Yakuza KIWAMI |OT| Translator's Note: "KIWAMI" means "EXTREME"

Since I already know almost all of the moves for kiryu and there isn't Majima playstyle.... in term of gameplay, it's pretty poor compared to Zero, no?

Content wise, Kiwami is relatively bare compared to 0. It is still a remake of a PS2 game with some stuff added in that has been either been featured in several other games in the series or with extra ties to 0. However, they did expand on the combat system a little by adding skills that let you switch styles seamlessly (without the startup animation for each style switch) during or after certain actions. So Kiryu sorta becomes a mini-Dante.

Stuck on getting stuff for the dog. Got the food but it's asking for water and the only thing I can find is vitamin water which it won't accept. I've already got the paper plate. What do I do?

EDIT: Nevermind I got the wrong water

You should've bought it on physical, that steelbook is an amazing addition to any Yakuza collection.

Now that I've finished last episode of Game of Thrones, I can devote myself fully to KAMUROCHO!
I wanted to man, but they sell these stuff at very unfair prices here. (the steelbook edition would've been $60 instead of the actual $30 price.)

I keep hearing that, but I do not understand what that means. Can you elaborate - preferably without spoilers?

Zero had
the real estate
questline for Kiryu and
the dance club
questline for Majima. Also, Majima's entire city is apparently not in Kiwami. And the main campaign in Kiwami is noticeably shorter.

But Kimami still has the smaller mini-games, many substories, collectibles, a XP perk-based leveling system, and enjoyable combat.

...Are there aspects that I've missed or misrepresented? ...I'm summarizing my impression on the comments of others; not directly informed myself.

Maybe bare wasn't the best word to use. To me it's noticeably smaller compared to 0, which is pretty obvious since you're only playing 1 character and there's only 1 city. The substories aren't as good compared to 0 outside of the new ones added. There are slightly less mini-games and the new one they added is basically the stupid catgirl fight garbage with a basic stats system attached to make it less annoying to complete. That's about all I can think of off the top of my head. To put it simply, as someone who goes for 100% in these games, it's been the easiest one to do so far.

I hope I'm not sounding too down on this game as it's still a great game, but I can see why they made this $30 instead of full price, coming off 0.

its a remake of the first game. It's only a single town, not two. Only one playable character and yes shorter in general. But its released on a budget price :)

Man I probably won't be getting a replacement PS4 until the weekend and even then I wasn't planning on playing it right away but I'll be Damned if playing along with GAF wasn't fun with 0.

I know it's crappy to say it, but this would have been the perfect distraction for me. Too bad store has been closed and it's flooding.

Got my ass kicked by the pocket fighter. Going to need to come back with the best parts later before I try again. Need to switch it off and get some sleep as I'm working early tomorrow, but looking forward to jumping back in and dicking about in the Casino.

My buddy orders from Amazon all the time never had an issue on a new release. First time for me and it's saying it won't deliver till Thursday. I hope that's just a conservative estimate. Amazon can usually do same day delivery for us.

Did anyone order from Amazon? My buddy who does it all the time never had an issue on a new release. First time for me and it's saying it won't deliver till Thursday. I hope that's just a conservative estimate. Amazon can usually do same day delivery for us.

I got an email from Amazon over the weekend saying it'll arrive on Tuesday via USPS. That means it's in my mailbox before noon, as per my mail carrier schedule.

Do these games have costumes, or are they dlc? I tried looking for some on PSN but can't find for any Yakuza game. Any ingame?

My bad. They're free DLC but you have to retrieve them in-game by talking to some guys dressing as clowns, haha.

I'm not sure if they're available yet, but if they're not, they'll be added in an update eventually.

I might wait to buy it next year since I will have to wait probably a whole year to be able to play Kiwami 2 next, than 3,4,5 and 6.

Ah. I'm also wondering about 0, 3, 4 and 5.

Gah, the one time I actually win the Best Buy Release Date Lotto and get a game in the mail early it's for a game that I'm not gonna play right away. Oh well, more motivation to finish Dead Souls and then move onto 5, I guess.

Boy, was there.

Can anyone say if the funeral is less infuriating in the remake? I swear I can hear the guards' dubbed voices in my head as I type this because I had to retry that thing like 30 times in the original.

I forget if its any easier, but they definitely changed up that sequence a bit so that you have to do things a bit differently in order to meet
Kazama
. Its odd, most of the main game questline remains untouched in terms of objectives but you do get (by my memory) three added/changed scenarios (including the funeral mentioned above). The other two are:
Flashback to you buying Yumi's ring right at the beginning of the game.

An extra fight against a load of goons where you team up with Majima just before his second story boss fight
.

In at some point. Copy arrives tomorrow, but my husband is playing through DQXI and Rabbids is also coming in. Playing through Rabbids first will give me something to play while my husband hogs the PS4. And Yakuza is a known quantity- I know I'm gonna love it. I even loved Dead Souls, for fuck's sake!

I've noticed that I'm using all the fighting styles minus dragon quite a bit. This wasn't like 0 where I usually stayed beast mode for most the game.

amazon says my steelbook should be here tomorrow! god we're getting spoiled with these catchup releases

again tight work OP, thread's got me more hyped that ever!

Don't want to give any spoilers for those who don't know but the Majima Everywhere system is hilarious and amazing. He really does show up everywhere in places you would never expect. Some of the best moments in this game are him just popping up in random stuff. There's also some moments where he talks about his past in call backs to 0.

I'd definitely recommend everyone to play 0 before playing this even if it's just to appreciate Majima more.

Did you not have the equipment in Zero that let you fast-switch between styles? I was constantly going between Rush and Beast. They should really make fast-switching the standard, and I'd make it even faster.

Jesus fuck it was frustrating. I thought the rest of the game would be nearly impossible because of this shit

I'm past the funeral (I'm on chapter 4). There was nothing frustrating about it, and nothing really stood out as being odd or bad design.

What was wrong with that bit in the original game?

Damn! My preorder had some payment problem meaning there is no way I get it tomorrow and I leave the country Wednesday. If I go into a Gamestop in Germany in the first couple of weeks will there be a steelbook and will it be in English?

Didnt that item in zero still make the game/kiryu stop slightly, it was just faster then the standard switch time

In kiwami its seamless ( from what ive seen ) and neither the game nor kiryu stop when swapping styles

Argh, was holding off on picking this up as I really have quite the backlog and just no time to play. Not to mention, still playing through 0. Almost want to get a digital code, but it's really a series I like to own physically. This should still be available in December for the holidays, I imagine, no?

PSA: I'm seeing some narrative details flying around in here, so I'd just like to remind people to SPOILER ALL NARRATIVE STUFF because many of us have never played 1. The Zero OT was great because YakuzaGAF was very respectful of spoilers, so let's try to repeat that. I'd rather not have to avoid the OT like I did for Persona 5.

Yeah, it wasn't instantaneous in Zero, just a lot faster than default. So you're saying in Kiwami that by default it's an instant switch? That's great!

Steelbook version? Amazon US? If so, they didn't have release-date delivery for that version. Only the standard version had release-date delivery.
