Indicated 111F on highway 101 on my drive home. Stopped at costco parking lot in redwood city... 109F.

Ya, it's really hot here in RWC. It doesn't feel like 110 in my apartment, but I came home after circulating air all day so I think that helps. Only essential electronics on, turn everything else off lol.

Yeah, I'm thinking it's time to put my desktop to sleep and go laptop all weekend. It's just too hot.

SF are you guys okay? 106 for y'all is insane. I don't think it even got to 106 in Sac today, unless I was just indoors at work at the time.

Sitting here at SJSU and the AC's broken in this lecture hall, class wasn't cancelled, waiting for someone (probably me) to pass out so they can sue the university :p

Its hot AF

yow. what class is it?

Process Control Systems. First example the book gives is a thermometer (extra funny because the one in this room shows 67)

update: professor called it quits after an hour, and thank god, cause I don't think we would've been able to hang on for 45 more minutes PLUS a 3 hour lab right afterwards

What's the risk?

Eh, I don't feel good about my TV and computer creating a ton of heat while the fan at my window continues to pull in only extremely hot air from outside. But yeah I'm probably just being paranoid.

Also I've been playing a lot of Elite Dangerous lately and I have heat management on the brain lol

There's a nice cool breeze coming in now from the ocean. It's a lot nicer outside than it was 2 hours ago.

I wonder if my regular UPS driver called in sick because of the weather. It was a different guy today and the contents of my package were extremely warm to the touch. I can't imagine how hot it is in that truck and lugging doing that sort of labor in this heat. I gave him a bottle of water from the fridge and he seemed happy to see it.

Still gross in SR.

Wunderground sensor at the park 1/2mile from me says 89.5, and iOS says 95.

Feels closer to 95, the park has a lake and lots of shade.

We have the most the windows closed still but will open them full hog in like an hour.
Blech. Drinkin a bud light.

You guys have AC though.
Not really. You'll be surprised how many single family homes don't have AC, especially those made in the 60s and 70s. Apartments started putting in window units, but they're not great.

LA's weather was actually pretty good until the mid to late 00s.

About 90 here in Livermore, out grilling a late dinner and it's actually quite pleasant. Never got over 110 for me today. Definitely hot but I'd still be doing stuff outside this weekend if it wasn't for the smoke.

Definetly recommend opening all windows full hog to let the breeze come in once it gets dark.

I need to move like post haste. My old place in San Mateo was practically on the water, and it was so nice there most of the time. This new place in Redwood City gets stuffy and stagnant.

How is it even possible for SF to be over 100? It doesn't make any fucking sense.

It really only needs the wind to change. Without the cool breeze blowing off the Pacific SF would be hot.

In other news, we missed the CA peak power usage record by a 100 MW and change today, but one of the highest in the last 20 years.

Just had to rush to the vet hospital because one of our cats got heat stroke. It's awful, there's no way to cool the apartment down and nowhere has ACs in stock. I don't know what to do the rest of the weekend.

Check your city hall website for cooling centers. Should be something set up that's pet friendly.

Geez, this takes me back to July 4th 2013 (in Plumas Lake). Our three year old house had an almost complete AC failure. It was 105 outside and we had guests in from Phoenix, they thought it was pretty nice. lol

As it turns out, our kitchen was the only cool room in the house. I feel for the folks dealing with that 110+ stuff. Especially feel bad for the folks who just don't even have AC!

I was very uncomfy with the heat.

But holy crap... these microfiber cooling towels I impulse-purchased at Costco a while back actually work!

I don't know why I was so skeptical and never tried till now. I guess they sound weird. You wet it, wring it out, and then snap it a few times. It then becomes nice and cool.

There are tons of similar products available online.

This is really good.

Huh, interesting... got a link to the costco ones you're talking about?

Not too bad here, but hottest I've felt it since moving out west. 82 in my apt right now (east bay). Almost reminds me of summers back east, but until the walls start dripping, it's not even close.

My hotbox room doesn't seem to want to get rid of any heat even with fans and my door open for now (my only window is a tiny arrow-slit one, not very good airflow). I never study on campus but this weekend I'm going to be making a temporary home there just out of necessity, can't concentrate on anything here.

If it weren't last minute on Labor Day weekend I'd be heading to see my mom in Vegas, at least she has AC lol.

"Patchy smoke before 11am. Sunny and hot, with a high near 108. Light west northwest wind becoming north northwest 5 to 9 mph in the afternoon."

Patchy... smoke? 🤔
