Hello everyone! Just got back into overwatch a few days ago after having owned it for awhile and have been playing alot, now level 11!

Anyone know any good youtubers where they can teach how to play a specific character well? I need some tactics!

While they don't have a guide for all the heroes (yet), you should definitely check out the Master Guide series on Overwatch Central.

Also, if you need any tips, feel free to ask.

Played a few rounds tonight in mid-plat on my alt account. A lot of really bad DPS players in a row. I had gold damage in 4 of the 6 games as Winston, Zen, Roadhog, and Sym. Unsurprisingly, ended the night 1-5.

At this time, Junkrat is a very fine hero to learn. Here are some general tips:


  • It's better to get in the fight when you can, and it's important to hit your grenades on targets.
  • Spray and pray will keep you from getting kills, which is the issue people have with trash damage characters.
  • Don't let those medals get to your head. If you're not killing, you're not being as effective as the stats/medals might make you think.
  • A confirmed grenade & tossed mine will always kill every character in the game under 200 HP. This is Junkrat's go-to combo.
  • Your concussion Mine doesn't hurt you. Use it as a jump booster to reach higher ground.
  • Your concussion mine makes for a great escape plan. Place and detonate it between you and your enemy to space each other out.
  • Keep a safe distance, Junkrat does not 1v1 well.
  • Try not to spam fire if Zarya is on the other team soaking up charge.
  • Don't run into your own fire, proceed through choke points with caution.
  • Junkrat does not do well alone. Make sure to be with the team, don't attempt to flank behind enemies unless your team acknowledges your actions.
  • Place traps on places you can capitalize and fire at as soon as you see the Triggered icon appear.
  • Placing/detonating Concussive mine near/on your trap can allow you to sabotage a point and deal damage while not being there.
  • Your RIP-Tire only makes noise when making forward contact with the ground, use this to trick your enemies by climbing walls with it, or waiting a few seconds idling before flanking behind enemy lines.
  • You can deal a lot of damage behind cover, Points like Point B on Temple are amazing areas to fire down a lane and deal damage behind a Reinhardt/Orisa.
  • Placing a trap in direct line of sight of a Reinhardt can stop a Reinhardt charge dead in it's tracks.
  • Learn the maps and common routes for players. Awareness is a Junkrat player's best skill.
  • Learn how to use your trap and rmine for close engagements instead of trying to setup traps. Save the trap for the same thing, stopping somebody trying to get too close.
  • It's fine to set-up a start of round trap for first pick if you're on defense, but you should otherwise use them to address specific threats.

It's also a good way to stop the likes of Doomfist rocket punching you into a wall, but make sure you create some distance between yourself & the enemy DF, as there are times when his punch did connect and I die a horrible death.

I tried learning a different dps other than junkrat, but i've come back to my senses. none of them match the sheer power of his kit.

though i still have no idea what my fourth golden gun should be D:

Why is it the games only started getting good at 5AM? By good I mean teams grouping up and fighting together. Not to mention two real 2,2,2 teams goung against each other 😛. Lagged out of a game and lost 50 sr. It put me in a game with golds. I played soldoer for the first time ever and destroyed. Literally had 4 golds and a bronze for healing. Had 8 deaths but 40 elims. We still came close to losing it.

I'm starting to think I only play this game for King's row. It's the only map I really enjoy. Slowly becoming a Zarya main :p

I take it to mean to not follow your shots in, because you're very likely to be met with people shooting there, expecting you to foolishly walk right through. Least, that's how I use him. I use his fire to bounce around corners and vary where I'm at so they can't just chase me down so easily.

Just had a Reaper try to abuse a glitch on Lunar & get stuck for the entire attack round. Lose more hope by the day with this community.

Don't play in the morning afternoon too many trolls and throwers.

Weekend socks sometimes as well.

And king's row is the best map for sure.

I've been maining him since S1 when people thought he wasn't viable at all. It won't phase me at all.

Do you mean Roadhog, the character with the second lowest winrate before this last patch?

Safer choice if you want to guarantee a loss, I suppose.
