Chozo stuff being spread across many planets isn't likely something the main games will acknowledge. Besides that, metroids were made specifically to exterminate the X parasites on SR388 and the Chozo quickly realized they made a mistake, so having metroids in other colonies would be dumb.
Without Ridley they might as well just make it a new threat altogether, though.
Ridley was cloned accidentally by the conspiracy group, who also cloned Zebesians and planned to use them as bioweapons. The issue isn't that they can't come back. It's that they would need to be brought back first.
Well, in the way that Metroid means "Ultimate Warrior" in Chozo language, but if you're talking about her having Metroid DNA that ceases to be the case when she absorbs SA-X.

Sakamoto ran out of Alien movies to half rip-off essentially lol.
What we should have got in the 90s was Metroid vs Red Falcon (Contra) lol.
It's one of those series that has an unfortunate if in others ways great and solid, name. The series is really 'adventures of Samus' (one game aside), and so the devs have kept working out more excuses to get Metroids in them despite it making little sense.
Reality: There will probably be Metroids and Space Pirates again.
I don't think there is any changes between the two in terms of performance or controls.
I know L is free-aim, maybe there is a way to set that as the C stick in n3DS.

Ridley in Fusion wasn't the real Ridley though. His carcass was infected and you fought an X-Parasite mimicking Ridley.
The whole Fusion was about conclusion of most of Metroid stuff, even the Metroid was more of a surprise at the end than anything.
Started replaying Federation Force, since I've replayed everything else outside Hunters.
The music is decent, and I like the gyroscope controls. While the graphics are ugly as sin, I like the variety between the three main planets.
Man does the game suck early on when you have barely any mods or item space. I haven't even tried to do any missions online since I doubt anyone is still there, and anyone who is will probably be doing the later missions.
I'm not sure why people act like destroying the BSL means they can't make any more Metroids.

Fusion was a pretty finite end for Ridley, at least. He came back from annihilation in Super because he accidentally got brought back by the scientists in Other M from DNA collected off Samus' suit, but after getting sucked dry by a Metroid Queen, getting absorbed by an X-Parasite, and then having the BSL and SR388 blown to oblivion I think that's the end for him. Unless the Federation has samples of his DNA and clone him again even though they didn't mean to the first time. But hell, they thought they could control Zebesians, Metroids, and an AI based on Mother Brain so I guess they'd be full enough of themselves to try making a subservient Ridley. I'm pretty sure Ridley has genetic memory, though, so his clones retain his personality. He certainly remembered Samus in Other M.

A little thing like total molecular annihilation isn't going to keep our ol' pal Ridley down. Metroid needs a dragon to fight, just like Zelda needs his big green guy and Mario needs the angry turtle man.
The only way Ridley could actually die is if Samus Returns and Prime 4 bomb and Nintendo shelves the franchise for good

Man it's been so long, and this to me will essentially be a brand new Metroid game.
Reviews are gonna be great, reckon we're looking at a clean 90/100, hope the sales reflect the effort, and then we'll get a brand new 2D Metroid in HD on Switch!

Man I sure don't. I remember being (and still am) hyped as hell.
Yeah, the initial reveal, it not being a Switch game and MercurySteam as the developer receive a lukewarm response. Then, as gameplay and impressions started to roll people realized we were getting something really good. I went for Yay, Metroid to hype overdrive.
I feel like the amiibo unlocks will be a lynchpin for reviewers, depending on what kind of content is behind the Art Gallery (I'm guessing there's no special endings behind this; if there is, that's a BAD MOVE for Nintendo to do) and Sound Test. The reserve tanks really don't mean much, and Fusion Mode just seems kinda...there.
Concerns? 30fps is always a big one. Considering the 3D effect, it could be too intense for me to handle (like in Pilotwings and DKCR by Monster; I forget how Lords of Shadow 3D's was) as well as potential ghosting effects 3D does bring up at that low poly screen. I'm also concerned that you use the slide pad instead of the D-pad in a 2D game.

The special endings are not locked by Amiibo.
Well that's one concern wiped away.
