New Super Mario Odyssey trailer

I now regret seeing the direct footage now though, since they showed off quite a lot of the game but I hope there will be still many surprises.
You probably won't remember the vast majority of the specifics by the time late October rolls around, unless you keep watching this over and over. :) Plus, in the context of the game and actually playing it, I think we're all going to be thrilled and surprised all over again.

Fucking people were freaking out about everything they revealed about Breath of the Wild, and in the end it was less than 10% of the whole game lmao.

Yeah, Nintendo doesn't normally like giving too much away content-wise (usually focusing more on gameplay mechanics). That they've shown so much just leaves me to believe that the game will be of gigantic proportions. Oh yes.

Damn, this looks so unbelievably good!

Has there been any confirmation yet on whether there will be linear bowser stages (like in SM64/Galaxy) between the kingdoms? I really wish for them to return in Odyssey. :)

Join me and the many of us who go on 'media blackouts' to make games that much better when they're out ---- everything is a complete surprise.

It takes a lot of willpower to be on of us.

I didn't like the e3 showing that much and thought the visuals were messy (incoherent), but this trailer sold me. Some of these levels look visually pleasing and the gameplay looks fantastic. I also like the premise of the game a lot.

I'm getting this game just to play as a Cheep Cheep but I'm hoping they let you play with the best Mario and that is Luigi.

I just realized that at the beginning of the video when Koizumi presents the final game of the Direct and Mario appears throwing his hat to the screen as if he had just posessed Koizumi wich is why he then appears dressed as Mario, Lol! That's a nice detail it took me a whole day to notice.

Not sure how I feel about going through each world linearly in a 3D game.

Isn't that how it's always been? You start in one level, get just enough stars/shines/moons to unlock the next, and then you can go back and forth between them all to get the remaining stars/shrines/moons.

Yeah, but I reckon this is only the case for the first couple of kingdoms, until you get to bowsers ship in the desert kingdom. After that story sequence I bet you're free to go wherever you want providing you have enough moon pieces.

You can unlock worlds by collecting stars and shrines but you weren't forced to go through them in order. Like you can get a lot of stars in Bob-omb battlefied to unlock three more worlds but you can go straight to Cool Cool Mountains without visiting Whomp Fortress and Jolly Roger Bay first.

But if I heard Andre correctly, it sounded like you have to visit each world linearly like 2D Super Mario style.

This is also possible too. Maybe there are multiple neighboring kingdoms that get unlocked at a time too.

I just hope one of the remaining, unrevealed kingdoms is a haunted kingdom. Got to have Boos and haunted mansions in my 3D Mario!

Isn’t that the cap land place? (isn’t cappy a ghost?)

Is it? I just figured it was a kingdom the Cappys resided in. Not sure if Cappy is a ghost or not. Were there any Boos in the kingdom? I honestly can't recall any footage showing them.

Ahh, shit. Okay. I do remember this. The lower body definitely looks like a Boo's body. Makes you wonder if Cappy "died" against Bowser while trying to protect Tiara. If so, will completing the game bring him back?

???

I know this game has a good chance of being my GOTY just by watching the trailer. Beating BotW as my favorite game this year (this gen?!) would be quite an achievement.

Remember when people said the game looked weird and bad on reveal. Always gotta get those cheap shots in before reality comes knocking.

Status quo for almost every 3D Mario post-Sunshine afaict (I have no memory of the reaction to Sunshine's spaceworld reveal)

Until they released that dope af October trailer with the big band jazz music and the crazy cloning cherry power-up, a noticible amount of disgruntled gamers were calling 3D World a lazy glorified 3DS port during the summer of 2013.

It looks like there are 69 in the Sand Kingdom. Nice

69 moons in a kingdom on average multiplied by let's say 15 Kingdoms total = approx. 1000 Moons. Nice round number?

Given the Cap Kingdom is likely one of the first ones you visit, if not the first, it's likely to be quite short and and unlikely to be the spooky world.

I can't be the only one who's always assumed Cappy was some kind of rabbit. Not only does he look like one in this shot, but there's the whole "rabbit out of a hat" thing.

I might actually just do that, since there's no need to convince myself to buy the game (as if I ever had to, lol). :D

No doubt this game will be a masterpiece and it reminds me of how much I love this series.

Anyway, see you all in one and a half months!

Some of the kingdoms have mini levels that are linear and more platform heavy like 3D-world.

We had better be able to see Isle Delfino off the coast of the Mushroom Kingdom on the world map. Yoshi's Island, too. The canon, Nintendo, THE CANON

If this is 1080p I will be so happy. I kind of doubt it but I want it to look as good as possible on my TV.
It probably will have a dynamic resolution just like other first party games. Max probably will be 900p and that's mostly to keep it running at smooth 60fps.

Yeah, seems like 900p max and dynamic resolution. It has worked well for Nintendo 1st party titles so far.
