COMICS!!! |OT| September 2017 | 25 Years of wearing a smile to work!

Browsing CBR headlines and I'm starting to think Guillermo Del Toro is a pretty weird guy.

"Del Toro Insisted, The Shape Of Water Is NOT An Abe Sapien Movie"

"Del Toro’s The Shape of Water Absolutely Features a Woman/Fishman Sex Scene"

Huh.

Silver Surfer by Slott and Allred. Man. IT IS UNBELIEVABLY GOOD.

It should be a Young Animal book. It feels like one. It is wonderfully weird and it has SO much heart.

If Marvel doesn't make an omnibus of this, I will be beyond sad.

Whoooooo! List time!

Black Hammer #13
Batman The Red Death #1
Batwoman #7
Cave Carson #12
Wild Storm #7
Angelic #1
Gasolina #1
Invincible #140
Bloodshot Salvation #1

Oh he just keeps making everything worse, doesn't he?
God this is a creepy variant:
Jesus fucking christ

I am so so sad
Red Hood and the Outlaws 1-6 would make a really fun movie.
Reminds me of a question my friend posed (because you really aren't wrong):

What comic book arc or trade (since they are usually just an arc) would you want adapted into a film?

I pick the Gifted arc of Whedon's Astonishing.

Secret Identity would be a really interesting Superman film

What are all the Catalyst Prime books?

The universe starts in a one-shot that's available for free on Comixology and seven books spin out of it:
The origin of the Catalyst Prime superhero universe is revealed, as five astronauts take on a suicide mission to save the Earth from an asteroid collision, leading to the rise of superpowered beings.

Noble:
Catalyst Prime has begun! One year after The Event, missing astronaut David Powell has resurfaced! With dangerous new abilities and no memory of the man he once was. While desperately trying to regain his identity David quickly finds himself a man on the run from shadowy forces as well as his forgotten past.

Accell:
Daniel DosSantos is a young man living at the speed of life. After gaining powers from exposure to an extraterrestrial object, DosSantos became the rapid action superhero called ACCELL. The first of a new public kind of self-apointed crime fighter.
Unfortunately, there are consequences to moving faster than sound. ACCELL about to learn that danger exists on the flipside of having super powers, and will have to grow up quickly to survive.

Superb:
After The Event in which Earth was saved from an asteroid, but a meteor shower hit the world. Youngstown, Ohio became a level 5 impact zone, with incidents of mysterious powers emerging in teenagers. Kayla Tate and her friend Jonah Watkins, a young man with Down Syndrome, have become the heroes Amina and Cosmosis, to stop The Foresight Corporation from kidnapping and experimenting on the new breed of superpowered youth.

Incidentals:
One Year after The Event that transformed a small portion of the world's population into superhumans, billionaire Bo Vincent Chen has gathered his team of enhanced operatives for secret missions. Their latest task: saving the life of the extraordinary teenager called Seven.
The world's first mysterious superteam of the Catalyst Prime Universe is revealed in this new series, but what secrets are they all hiding?

Astonisher:
The most dangerous corners of the universe live inside the nightmares of super-powered people.
Magnus Atitarn, heir to the Atitarn Satellite Corp., tried to save the world with his experimental one-man spaceship — and ended up a broken man. Now a celebrity joke suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Magnus has the power to travel inside the mind of super-powered people, where he discovers nightmares which threaten the entire human race.

Kino:
Major Alistair Meath of Britain's Royal Air Force sacrificed his life to save Earth from an approaching asteroid on the night of ”The Event".
Seven months later, Meath has resurfaced as the colorful, kinetic energy-powered superhero KINO, but something is very wrong with the world.
Britain's MI6 is on the hunt for Meath, and the terrible secret behind his return is revealed in this mindbending thriller within the Catalyst Prime Universe.

Summit:
Dr. Valentina Resnick-Baker is one of the most brilliant minds of the Catalyst Prime Universe. The doctor has a Masters in Materials Science, and a PhD in Theoretical Astrophysics, for starters. She had a good life teaching plasma fusion at the MIT Aero Astro, a girlfriend who loved her, and the respect and admiration of her employer Lorena Payan, CEO of the Foresight Corporation.

One year after The Event that introduces the means for super powers to the world, Val is the only known survivor of the mission that she took on with four other astronauts and Mission Control to stop an asteroid from destroying the Earth.

How Val survived, and her personal struggle to deal with the aftermath of the mission is at the core of Summit.

I would post the covers, but that's probably be a bit too much lol.

So yesterday I got a copy of The Amazing Spider-Man Omnibus Vol.1 signed by Stan Lee and got a Thor bobblehead at a Giants game.

Lashley

Why does he wear the mask!?
Can someone give me a short run down on what I've missed in action comics? I've just been reading Superman as I assumed AC was the shit one, but it seems a lot of shit has went down

I know about Oz and the reveal

What people here play Destiny 2 on PS4?

Is the campaign really as short as people are making it out to be? I keep seeing people try and sell the game on its end game and saying it only takes 5 hours to finish the story content. I figured I'd pick it up eventually when I run out of other stuff to play but I'm finding that kind of off-putting.

I definitely spent way more than 5 hours working my way to the end of destiny 1's original story content.

I'm not sure yet. I've been so busy with Yakuza 0 I haven't put much time in it. I will say the little campaign I have played is muuuuch better. It feels much more like a bungie halo campaign. And I hear it ends really well

Matt Fraction Hawkeye. All of it.

Court of Owls for Batman.

Would like a Long Halloween TV miniseries.

This is actually the first I've heard anything about these Catalyst Prime books. What is this, are they trying to make a brand new superhero brand or something? Didn't Dark Horse plan on doing this a while back?

Like Ross said, it's basically a modern version of Milestone. It's a universe of diverse heroes and the one-shot was even written by Priest.

Joe Casey is the figurehead of that thing?

Joe Illidge is. He worked for Milestone and is trying to continue what McDuffie was doing when he created the line. Dude even wrote an essay about how McDuffie influenced the line lol. Joe Casey just seems to be tight with the people at Lion Forge and they got him to work on a lot of books.

Seeing his resume, nothing that clicks with me unless you count his Wolverine run.

Weird, Extremity is $16 for the first volume. Is IMAGE not making the first volumes $10 anymore?

Still meh, NYCC better go in or Marvel is fucked for 2018.
I doubt they are going to delve too far into 2018 at NYCC. We will probably get some Avengers info though since the January issue will apparently be special.
I don't need convincing. But does anyone even care about either Jean anymore?
People care about her, but ultimately she's part of a team, albeit an important one. The other returns will be key.
