Final Fantasy 9 PS4 announced

Agh. Finally broke 300 and then lost on 330 even though I was perfect. I've gotten 1000 on two separate previous occasions and it was nowhere near this difficult. There's some fuckery afoot.

Well, yeah, she is basically Ichigo from Bleach. That's not usually considered a good thing tho.

To quadruple dip or not, that is the question. I will probably get it in the next FF sale since I got the new version on PC after all (and PSN for Vita, OG PS1 version).

I'll have the PS1 version, the Vita version, the Steam version and I'm still going to get the PS4 version.

FF IX is one of my all time favorite games and my PS4 is turning into one hell of a Final Fantasy machine. Between VII, IX, X, X-2, XII and XV,

I played this when it first came out and rebought on the Vita.

Are there any QoL improvements or whatnot that would justify this over the PS1 classic Vita version?

It's a port of the Steam version, which has numerous improvements both graphically and feature-wise (plus one or two notable downgrades, like the lack of analog movement).

Still debating between buying this for a 3rd time, and return to my version on Vita. But looking at those images posted in this page, WTF did they do to the font? It looks awful :/

I mean, compared with what they did to FFVI, it's not bad at all. It's at least somewhat reminiscent of the original.

Are people really not liking the font? It's a super-generic modern UI font, but the original one wouldn't have converted well to the HD era. They did a decent job of getting some style out of something 9 pixels high, but that weird-shaped lowercase a and the undersized capitals would look weird if they stayed intact while the font got more resolution.

(Incidentally, the Japanese original uses the same custom fixed-width font as FF Tactics did; it has some character but is still perfectly readable, and I like it.)

FF7's trophy set was actually really good, so I'm surprised to see what a mess this one is.

A bronze for 10k monster kills is just a slap in the face.

And the Tetramaster and jump rope trophies are just stupid.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
I got it despite saying I wouldn't till FFVIII was released and after half-hour my original opinion has been drilled further home that this is the weakest PSX FF.
It's amazing peoples love for the world has made them blind to how underpar everything else is compared to VII and VIII.
I'd say the Cast and battle system are the biggest problems, most FF's have a character that you have to question if the character designer was off and the Janitor had a go.
IX seems like he made Vivi and went on holiday for the rest of the production.
Still it's still the Final Fantasy we love and is still great.

It legitimately makes me so happy that they skipped VIII for IX. I've been thinking for a while now, "It's taking them so damn long to announce VIII, when means I'll have to wait even longer for IX."

Shame about that font though.

Final Fantasy VI on the SNES classic was going to be my first FF but I'm caught in the wave so fuck it, I'm jumping into this one.

I wish one of the quick cheats was "steal actually works"

People on the Steam forums were convinced that switching on 9999 damage affected the Steal rate. As someone who spent an hour in real-time with the game on fast-forward trying to get the Fairy Flute...no, it doesn't affect it in the slightest.

I really love this Final Fantasy. But I've played through this game 4 different times, and I always stop in the exact same place
when you get to Memoria

I don't know why but I always just move on to other things when I get there. Plus the jump rope minigame totally messes with my collect everything OCD.

My favorite FF, and it would be cool to replay it on PS4, but I don't think I can handle the music bug. Not to mention the absurdly high price.

Cheats are unnecessary; Ozma is the only tough fight in this game.

Also, who is the sadist at SE that included that 1000 jump rope trophy?

What's the music bug? :/

Music does not loop. It restarts after every battle. Some may consider it not a big deal, but I would rather just stick with the PS1 classic on Vita.

I don't know if there are any other bugs related to music playing incorrectly, but considering this is a problem with the FF7 PS4 port, I wouldn't be surprised.

Music loop from FFVII is in this game too? No sale. Fuck off Square.

Yeah, there are a number of things that make me think, "Good God, SE, why so hesitant to give this game the love it motherfucking deserves?"

But the port does a number of jobs, the trailer made me tear up a bit, and there's absolutely no way I'm not going to buy this game. Again. (Almost done downloading to my PS4.)

Thing is, the FF7 issue was a carryover from the old PC port from 1998, that they just didn't bother fixing. The FF9 issue is a brand new one introduced in a brand new port.

Yes, FF8 had that crap junctioning system. It was also great. Plus you got an actual airship to fly around wherever you wanted to, like the islands closest to hell and heaven to murder giant dinosaurs.

Did FF8 ever get a PC release? Don't remember. I'd really be happy with an HD remake though, with the original Nobuo music.

It's an annoying problem to be sure , the PC version (of FF7) had patches that fixed it though I believe they were fan made... for some reason I don't recall FF7 PS4 having the issue either but I may be mistaken it has been awhile since I played it.
