Picross S will contain 300 puzzles in Picross and Mega Picross modes. 5×5, 10×10, 15×15, and 20×15 puzzle sizes are included.

Unique to Switch is a new two-player mode, in which users can cooperate to solve puzzles or compete to solve squares. Various helpful features are included like the hint roulette and navigation feature. Jupiter also promises a renewed Picross and Mega Picross tutorial.

Picross S is launching sooner than you'd think, with a release planned for September 28. Pricing is set at $7.99 / €7.99 / £7.19.

Pretty much a direct sequel to Picross e7 then.

Hell yeah! I still haven't bought any of the 3DS games past Picross e2, but I'll definitely get this.

Woah, there's the handheld support I've been waiting for! :)

Hopefully they'll support touch screen controls too.

Huh, I expected them to stay on the 3DS a while longer. And, honestly, I'd hoped they would; I really don't like Picross without a stylus.

Seems like a waste to stick with 20x15s, too, on a 720p screen.

The 3DS is pretty much dead when it comes to new low-profile releases. Releasing a new Picross on eShop would mean they are sending their game out to die.

Have never played any Picross. Any pointers to how this specific game would work compared to others in the series? Or does all Picross games work the same way?

The 2D games all work the same way. You can just download the free Pokemon Picross on 3DS to try it, or just search on the Apple Store or Google Play Store for "Picross". Then you can play some free Picross apps on your phone.

The phone versions just don't work quite as well due to the small screen size and larger size of fingers compared to a stylus.

Yes! I must have put in 100s of hours over Jupiter's many Picross games.

I always preferred dpad controls too, so the lack of stylus is fine by me.

Paint it Back > Any 3DS Picross.

This includes both controls and board size (hell and presentation I'd argue). You are not taking in to account the phones can use stylus too also and run in like 10x the resolution of the 3DS so you have an actual usable zoom feature.

Holy crap! I didn't see this happening so soon!

The eShop folder on my 3DS looks like that, but I bought Picross 3D Round 2 digital because for some reason I was sure they didn't release it physical :D

Anyway, more Picross is always good news, but I'm not sure about the gameplay without a pen.
Of course you could still use the touchscreen (even with a capacitive pen) or the button like in old titles, but I think it will be inferior to the feeling you have on DS/3DS.

Happy for more Picross anytime, however...with Jupiter I wish they'd just invest more into putting all their effort into 1 game or at least more effort per game, compared to making probably S1-10 relatively small games.

I never like to use the zoom feature, nor did my phone come with a stylus (nor do I own one).

You're killing me, Jupiter. I love Picross, but you're killing me, Jupiter.

Where is a new Pokémon Pinball? Where is TWEWY 2? You've done Picross to death now, it's time for a resurgence of other games we desperately want back.

hungry cats colour or whatever ruined regular picross for me

just kidding, i'll totally get this, but you guys should check that out if you haven't already

Is this likely to be a good entry point for the series? I never played it. I also don't take my Switch out of the dock much so is this likely to be a good TV game? I could just pick up the original on DS for about the same price.

Looking at their Wikipedia it looks like they do a lot of other games. Maybe this is just something safe to pay the bills?

You can start at any point, but the later games in the e series have more QOL features and options. Picross DS has a stupid amount of content and better presentation than later games. It's a great place to start.
