South Park Season 21 |OT| 'member Self-Contained Episodes?

Are people only calling this latest one a great episode because last week's was so shit?

The new one was OK, but nothing more. No laugh out loud moments.

Wut. Is this the general consensus? I loved it.
It wasn't really all that funny, though I appreciated what they were trying to do with the Randy plot, it just didn't really go far enough and there was one story-line too many in the ep.

Given the music in this ep, I suspect this one ate into the premiere.

IT is old news and we might get a Halloween episode but don't see it being Stranger Things if we get one.

They took on TFA like 9 months after it came out. And Stranger Things Season 2 will be in the pop culture consciousness by next month, so they could easily fold IT parody elements into it.

TFA fit in perfectly with Member Berries.

And IT would fit in perfectly with any Stranger Things parody elements when the highly anticipated season 2 kicks off next month. Matt and Trey generally like to mine the popular nerd shit that exists. And combining what probably will be the falls biggest show with the current #1 movie in America doesn't seem farfetched.

Just don't see a Stranger Things episode happening then again what do I know. Last time they did a Halloween episode was 5 years ago or so.

I seemed to be in the minority in enjoying last week's episode, but last night's was on a whole other level. Haven't laughed that much at SP in years!

Just caught the latest episode, thought it was great. The animation bump when the kid got hit by the car was wtf lmao

I've always loved the songs/covers that South Park does (almost always Cartman), and holy fuck were the songs amazing in this episode, especially "Put It Down".

It still baffle my mind that one girl that I know is insisting that Parker and Stone are cowards because they NEVER have mocked Trump

Mind you, it doesn't matter that they do it all the time, if they don't use his exact name, it doesnt count

How ironic considering they were one of the few artists who kept on doing what they were doing, and even doubled down, despite death threats received.

Another classic. Goddamn I haven't howled like that in a while. I have fucking phlegm in my throat, fuck!!

Don't you mean GAF? There have been entire threads with posters calling them cowards for "refusing to take on Trump", even though they dedicated a whole season to it. Funny how they all suddenly clammed up

I liked the first one okay (I laughed at Randy's dig on Daryl and the flag waving bits) but this one was great. South Park does such great songs. The dig on Logic and Hillary was awesome. The dark absurdity of the kids getting run over worked for me too.

Yeah I thought he was talking about Ekai and that one other poster who copy+pastes his same post into every SP thread despite it being off-base.

Have you seen threads on here?

I think Hydrophilic Attack is banned atm. So we have a short repreive from that same post where he rails against three episodes of the show in every SP thread.

Episode was a step up from last week, was thinking Cartman would tie suicide awareness with Chester Bennington.

There was a definite older South Park feel to this episode. Not like, season 1 or 2 old, but like, season 10-ish?

I don't mind the mild continuity of this season and the Lorde one, happy for that to continue as long as it doesn't turn into whatever last season was.

Just watched the latest.

I loved everything about the episode but it was disappointing that Cartman and Heidi were together again. I know everyone has their own lines and stuff to cross, but something about watching Cartman and Heidi's abusive relationship just really hits a nerve with me and I can't laugh at it. I understand how it is funny in a 'what should be absurd' way, but I've been too close to those situations that I just can't laugh.

I'm still loving the show, and I realize this is only my opinion on one specific topic so I'm not asking for them to change anything. It's just unfortunate for me specifically.

I'm sure other topics have struck a nerve to others in the past considering the format of the show, but this is the first time it's ever happened to me. If I was ever lacking empathy to any of you regarding that in a discussion, I apologize now. I didn't know how to relate.

Same. Last year seems like they wanted to take a shot and try it. Since 19 worked well. 20 played to heavy handed on the election. They assumed Clinton had it in the bag.

Man, I must be crazy because I think i preferred the first episode over this one... Did little for me and while Tweek can sometimes be entertaining, found him mostly annoying in this episode.
