I always assumed it was a follow up to the previous comic, American Dreams. I guess Dark Horse will drop it with the next game. Hopefully they got Faith Erin Hicks back, although this one does look more serious in tone. The first series was fun, if a little disposable.

Hm this poster combined with the trailer indicates that the main environment will be the woods not the cities. I loved the forest part in the first game

I think that Hammer is for Ellie seeing as she's the playable character.

The claw marks on the tree in the trailer must mean there is going to be mutated wildlife. with LoU2 and Days Gone, 2019 will be year of the mutated bear.

So this is interesting, the hammer imagery could be be a reference to a classic post-apocalyptic story "Earth Abides", which isn't entirely out of left field, given that Last of Us has a diary entry character in Pittsburgh who shares the name of the novel's protagonist (Ish). Wonder if Naughty Dog might use some of the themes the novel explored:
*Spoilers for like a 50-year-old novel*
Ish is a survivor of a plague-type apocalypse aided by his trusty hammer. He tries to rebuild a smart scientific-minded semblance of society back through starting a family, but his words are powerless behind the religious significance his children place behind symbols like his hammer, whom even Ish begins to question whether or not the hammer is his tool, or if he is a tool of the hammer.

So maybe seeing concepts like revenge taking ahold of characters' minds, when such dramatic measures should honestly be ignored in a post-apocalyptic world since such measures require sacrificing of calm lives and often literal lives of friends helping them to accomplish this task, which fits with the tone of the trailer. Or maybe I'm reading into this too much and we get to beat the shit out of goons with a hammer.

I saw it on the US PSN about an hour ago.
It is, downloaded it this morning.
Not feeling the theme. It looks fine, but the ambient noises seem more annoying than anything. I would have preferred a sample of new music/title track (I know that is asking too much), but even a mix from the old soundtrack(s) would have been good. I'm going to pass on this theme and hope they come up with a good one for the last of us part 2's release date.
