"Right, done tinkering for the weekend" I said. "No more, just sit down and play", I said.

Even though it's not soft-bricking anymore, overmounting the file clover-canoe-shvc prevents any game from launching, even if I overmount it with an unchanged copy of itself. Dang it, I just want to try the horizontal linear filter.

Mhhh, no thank you then. Waiting for fan fixes.

You do realize the GUI for the games won't change right? It's just the underlying core that makes the game actually work that changes.

Tales of Phantasia is a special case being that it's the largest SNES game using a 48Mbit cart that doesn't use a special add-on chip / mapper. There is another 48Mbit game which is uses the S-DD1 chip, that being Star Ocean.

Fan fixes can only go so far, especially in regards to the native emulator part of the SNES classic. Enabling something like S-DD1 or Seta ST010 chips is probably outside the scope of the SNES Classic emulator as that would essentially get to the point of trying to emulate specific hardware that probably does not even exist in the native SNES Classic emulator code.

Especially since the game's built in the SNES Classic are based on existing VC releases (Megaman X 2 for example exists as part of the VC hence why the Cx4 games work on the SNES Classic)

I think a point should be made because the internal emulator in the SNES Classic is an official release by Nintendo doesn't necessarily mean it's more accurate or capable of running games better than the existing options that are available. Nintendo may have created the original hardware and knows the ins and outs of it's full capabilities, that does not mean the same consideration applies to how the SNES Classic internal emulator works. The same stipulations apply for VC releases as well. Just something to keep in mind for the sake of realistic expectations.

Maturity, bitches.
you're using Australian boxes, the notoriously "inbetween" territory in terms of box design and naming.

EU version of YI > AU/NA version

Technically, the UK had a yellow bordered box for Yoshi's Island similar to Australia's.

It's been so long since I've played SMW on an original SNES but did it always have the slowdown and dropped music notes? It drives me nuts on the overworld because the song cuts in and out.

I haven't messed with shaders in RA yet, but if works the same as it does in Retropi then I don't see any difficulty in getting a basic CRT Shader working.

I'll need to do more research on it. I haven't explored all of the potential that can be done with the specific build of RA for the SNES Classic.

Oh so you can actual access the RA UI then?

Sometimes when i shut my mini off i get a C8 error, does anyone know why?

Its only when i shut off after playing, everything still works, i can switch it on after and play.

Should i be worried?

I haven't figured that out yet. I think the configuration for that stuff has to be done via Hakchi.

Because as far as I'm aware only the official GUI is viewable. I suppose there will eventually be work arounds with custom GUIs eventually. Something I really don't want to do, I want to keep my SNES Classic as pure as possible. As I said I'm only using RA just as a workaround to get certain non-working games to be functional.

Sorry my knowledge isn't more in depth on this subject.

Slowdown, yes.
Dropped music notes is a soundbar issue. Same thing happens to me and it sucks. They power off during silence, and the short silences in SNES music trip up the soundbar a ton.

Thaaaaaat would explain it, I do have a soundbar. Oh well. No big deal.

Yeah totally agree with keeping it as pure as possible, would just be nice to had a nicer CRT filter than the current one used

Alright guys quick question about Super Mario RPG; When you have a party of 2/3 etc, does the EXP gained get distributed throughout the characters or does each one get the EXP (for example 2 EXP for each or 1 exp for 2 people) Thanks!

Does this have the option to map home button to down select yet?

I need that in my life

Yes

Do tell. Also, do you have any sort of guide for adding new frames? Dimensions and whatnot.

If the SNES Mini is powered by your PC, just pick "Take Screenshot" in hakchi's Tools menu.

As for the borders guide.. I will maybe write something up tomorrow. It's not entirely simple, and hopefully hakchi will get the feature automated.

I'm not hacking mine until I beat the base 21 games. :/

Same. If I fill this up now with Axelay, Hagane, Turtles in Time and all the others, I will never properly enjoy the core 21, I will just jump in an out of games. By the time I have played all the core games the emulator issues will be sorted out

Still have this error with the new final version.

Could it be that i have too many games on my main menu without folders?

So it’s official now?

Super easy to add new titles, just like with NES Mini? Plug in and copy over?

If so then my night is screwed.

Huh. I would have assumed it's just replacing the images on the ftp server or add new ones. But it doesn't seem to be that simple, hm?

They're not in a writeable area by default.

But if you're feeling confident..

Make a file called "p8173_ownbgs" (no extension)

Use Notepad++ to edit it, Notepad and Wordpad mess it up. It should contain the following. You also need to enter down to line 2, or the file won't work and you will soft-brick your SNES.

Code:
overmount /usr/share/backgrounds/

Now FTP in, copy the backgrounds folder to your PC from /usr/share/ and reupload it to /var/lib/hakchi/rootfs/usr/share/

The file you made a moment ago needs to go into /etc/init.d

Restart your SNES Mini and if all went well, it will be using the new folder, which is writable.

So on the PC, just create new folders following the examples set by what you see.

Here's what my SNES Background folder looks like:

I think your tongue slipped there, the idiom is "weeding out the kinks".

No it isn't. You iron out kinks, a kink is a crease or an imperfection in material. Perhaps it's been changed by our American cousins? We'll have to file it with "TIDbit"

Edit - I think you may be joking, forgive me.
