Such nonsense. Even if you are the most pessimistic person possible, Dragonball Super is still the clear #2 for Toei behind One Piece. And Toei's had an anime power hour on Fuji TV for decades. Wanna know the series Toei/Fuji TV has paired with One Piece for the last twenty years? Digimon, Zatch Bell, GeGeGe, Dragonball Kai, Toriko, and Dragonball Super. So what series are paranoid people expecting to magically replace Dragonball of all things? Because it's not going to be nothing and it's certainly not going to be GeGeGe.

Toei isn't giving up on their obvious cashcow just because the One Piece special had better ratings than the Dragonball special.

Super is actually Toei's #1 money maker now.

Also it's not that the OP special had higher ratings, it's that both of them had much lower than average ratings that's making people lose their shit.
OP's special got really high DVR ratings were really high and Super's probably will be too, people who decide to watch Kamen Rider and Super Sentai over Super and OP are probably still going to watch Super and OP, just recorded or online. This is also completely ignoring the money DB makes outside of Japan.
At worst Fuji TV just moves the two shows to a different time/day where they have less competition, but Super Sentai and Kamen Rider are more likely to be moved.

Been lurking these OTs, might as well post some thoughts:

The love for Gohan and 17 here is massive. I guess it’s justified with their lack of appearances.

Goku hate is also getting bit ridiculous.

Zeno specifically erasing Frost makes me think U6 will make it at the end.

Freeza is definitely trying to mess up with gods. We saw him analyzing GoDs reactions on Ultra Instinct. Still not quite sure how will he do that. Maybe he gets a wish to have Ultra Instinct?

I think U4 is going to be big player. There are many clues, with Quitela being Beerus’ rival and having a secret trump card, as well as being so confident. It seems clearly like Toriyama is foreshadowing. Toriyama mentioned that Whis could reverse time in RoF and Zeno giving the Zeno-button. I think U6 Tournament Arc also foreshadowed that Goku has this weird thing where he befriends people easily, as to why Hit gave up. So Quitela winning the arm wrestling contest and him having secret fighters is too suspicious. So, the warrior stronger than GoD might be in there. As for Jiren, well Whis didn’t specify that he really is that one. Whis said that Jiren’s power “is like and GoD” but he didn’t confirm it. In fact, he just wonders that the rumor could be true with Jiren. So I’m totally expecting Damon and Co to be big deal.

Also, Quitela is desgined by Toriyama purely. A lot of Toriyama characters seem to have big roles. It’s why Ribrianne is still in. She screams so much of Toriyamas new design, idol theme, eye design like Cabba, being a parody. She is definitely the last of U2 to survive. Also, U3 will most likely be next one gone. Filler fighter universe, sadly.

Of course, there are potentially many plot points that could happen here, like U6 winning, but saving U7 as a thank you from Beerus giving Champa U6 Earth back.

It’s amazing how much fun Super has been.

Rewatching 110, it seems really super obvious that Jiren has mastered Ultra Instinct. The way he talks to Goku seems to come from a position of experience ("this heat is your limit,") almost like it's Snape-style advice. His God of Destruction also says about Goku running out of energy, "no one could have learned it that easily," as if he'd already gone through an unbelievably intense training process with someone who did learn it.

Well that's why I specified "most pessimistic". A rational person would realize that Dragonball is the bread winner.

And people shouldn't obsess about 2 weeks of ratings, especially since 1 of the shows was missing each week. Fuji TV isn't going to back out of a decades long partnership because OP & DBS of all things had lower ratings. Worse case scenario is that they just won't do these specials anymore, but I doubt that's even the cause of the lower ratings.

Fantastic post. The main reason I think Jiren might truly be the one, even if Universe 4 is packing a major secret, is because don't forget there was one other key element of what Whis said about the universe where lives a mortal even a god of destruction can't defeat. He also mentioned that the god of destruction for that universe is stronger than Beerus.

For him to essentially reaffirm what he said about the mortal stronger than a God of Destruction, and qualify it with 'so the rumors were true" more or less tells me he was already aware of exactly which universe it was, and knew it was universe 11. That doesn't mean that universe 4 isn't packing a huge secret, though.

The cause of the lower ratings is because Super Sentai and Kamen Rider are now airing at the same time.

To be fair with Manga saying that Quitela beat Beerus, I think that’s why it’s U4 that has the GoD level warrior. Jiren is just really powerful on his own.

There are way too many options to truly guess what will happen.

A lot of people want Gohan highlight, so I tried to vision one:

Hit weakens Jiren a lot, but is ultimately beaten and kicked out of arena. Jiren is now weak and Goku regains strength to fight him again. U3 will be gone, and a lot of fighters will fall, leaving U2 having Ribrianne and U4, U6, U7 & U11 having 2 warriors each. U6 has Caulifla and Kale, U11 with Toppo and Dyspo. Cabba will probably be beaten by Freeza, to which Freeza will mock Vegeta by saying he was helping by getting rid of Cabba. Jiren might kick of a lot of U7 people with his clash with Goku. However, Goku and Jiren will end up in clash that is tied, leaving them open for attacks. Freeza then attacks super max power on them, kicking of Goku and Jiren at the same time. So, its 1 v 2 v 2 v 2 v 2, but then Quitela goes “kekeke” and reminds everyone that he has 2 invisible fighters who explode in an instant, being in massive advantage at tied character match. So, it’s up to Gohan and Freeza to win for U7. U6 might win in the end, but Champa saves U7. Meanwhile, Jiren is extremely furious and attacks Goku outside the ring, wanting to kill him for justice. Grand Priest allows it, as long as they don’t interfere with Arena.

Well that’s one-way things could go with.

Well, you are right about the Toriyama foreshadowing part. U6 might end up winning and Beerus Earth wish for Champa will be the reason U7 is back. So I guess I should put all my monies on Hitto. I think both U6 and U7 if they win will end up wishing all the erased Universes back tbh.

Nah, I'm still of the mind that U6 deletion will be the big "shit just got realer than real". Look at how many people have an attachment to either Hit, Champa, Kale, Caulifla, Cabba, etc... It would be very dramatic and it's one of the few things that would make Goku take things seriously, as now his "rival" Hit is gone as well as those nifty U6 Saiyans. Vegeta would likely be upset at Cabba being gone.

Let's not fool ourselves into thinking anyone other than U7 is winning this (assuming the tournament runs its course and isn't interrupted). The important part is how they get that win. IMO, whatever Frieza's going to do is more interesting than a U6 win.

Again, there are way too many options here. Maybe U7 really wins normally? Maybe U6 wins because Goku failed to beat Beerus, had to use Whis to restore Earth, was lucky that Hit gave up his win, destroyed Future Trunks’ universes accidently. Clearly he can’t win normal way. Things just work out.

Maybe Goku just asks Zenos why are they killing universes. They say there are too many. Then Goku asks, if they could be combined into “Super Universe”. It would be waste to erase all the fighters. Then Beerus gets pissed and asks what about GoDs. Then Goku says, just bring all 8 of them in one universe. Zenos agree, 5 is still much less Universes anyways. Now GoDs must share same Universe and are PISSED at Goku.

At this point, the only reason erased Universes would come back, is that they killed Gowasu. How could they just erase everyone’s favorite Kamituber just like that? Otherwise, these erasures seem permanent.

I doubt the erasures are permanent. I think you're on the right track that the Zenos are just going to listen to an idea someone floats and boom, that's just how things are from then on. Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't it been stated that U7 is largely empty?

Freeza needs to be the one who does it though, just because of how entertaining that'll be. He's been a blast to see in action ever since they brought him back.

Hmm, actually, that's right.
In the spoiler to one of the episodes from 112-114 it said the ToP is nearing its end, I guess this is actually the case now.

114 is also the episode which presumably has that new fighter being revealed.
