I saw Icefrog at a grocery store in Seattle yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didnÂ’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.
He said, “Ribbit Ribbit?”
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

He's totally right though.
7.00 didn't come out til December last year.
That's not exactly a fair comparison. 7.00 was the biggest overhaul to DotA we've seen to date imo. It completely altered the game with the implementation of talents and removal of attribute bonuses. It stands to reason a patch of that magnitude would take longer than the average content patch. Given that Valve is adding 2 original heroes this is a pretty big patch, but it's also been longer from 7.06f to now than it was from 6.88 to the release of 7.00.

shame we have like 5-6 tourneys here that are all being played on

aight so evidently this screenshot is making the rounds dunno how true it is (if real or doctored/fake/old) but claim is it's from perfect world in response to chinese patch fervor:
claim is that the patch is coming in "a few days" or "near term" and that they are in the process of translating but it isn't finished yet (either the balance or translation)? my chinese expert said it translates to "near term" which i have no idea what timeframe that gives, the original poster of the screenshot said "few days." any chinese experts on gaf ??

When they announced at TI, they said (or strongly implied) it would be the same update. Not really sure what "TWO NEW HEROES" "THE DUELING FATES" update would mean otherwise.
aight hype train mb dead - my rd2l captain chinese expert said he originally misread and it doesn't even say anything about a timeframe (so looks like the original poster of the screenshot also jumped ahead), evidently it translates to:
"patch is so slow"

Seriously doubt this is real. #1 you have the off-screen nature of these things usually being fake.
Disregarding that though, at the top the headings "2 Heroes", etc. Those are exactly the same as the top bar of the Dota 2 blog right now.
The background image also is just a screencap from the trailer. While you could argue that maybe it's a placeholder, something that's allegedly releasing today isn't going to have a placeholder at this point.
Plus if Artifact was really coming out with this, don't you think it would have a dedicated section/page on here? Valve's style with these pages lately is to have one long thing to scroll through, maybe a seperate page for patch notes, seperate page for tours of the new heroes, but the summary would all be on one page.

definitely feels like they intend(ed?) to get the patch out before esl major with the "about a month" comment on Sept. 18 but i guess it's just not ready -- we'll find out in the next couple days

The few times there were legitimate leaks, they were like right before the actual drop. I specifically remember the 7.00 notes being dropped a couple of hours before the actual notes dropped, and no one (including myself) believed Talents were real.
