Might be a little late, but a fun story about finding out who we were playing:

We were all brought into our big team meeting room where we had ESPN playing on the screen. They were going to announce who we were playing. There were ESPN cameras all over the room, and at Bama and (I assume) OKState. They were to get our reactions. They announced it and I swear you could have heard a pin drop. We all WANTED to play Oklahoma State. But, I remember Miles standing up and basically telling all of us that we were about to be on camera and to get hyped for playing the second best team in the country (or something like that).

So we get a signal from the camera and we all go crazy. Extremely excited, jumping around, clapping, etc. There was about a 30-second delay and we saw our reaction on the big screen. I just remember thinking how interesting it would have been had they just started filming instantly.

To which he responded:

Rumor. There are too many stories to tell about Lee. He was genuinely the nicest guy there. Most people on that team were pretty shitty or mean people. Lee was the coolest guy. The irony was, I hated watching him in HS before I made it there. Helped him warm up with some passes every few practices and we chatted. Just a really cool guy.

In the hotel, the morning of the game. There was a banner that was hung up that said “Thank you Jarrett Lee.” We were quickly removed from that room. It was a big open hall area where we were going to do walkthroughs, Miles seemed pretty pissed. No one really knows why he didn’t play Lee.

I know Miles has become a meme on here and people love him and some even consider him one of the best coaches alive. I know that I have zero respect for that man. I won’t go into detail but I actually refused to even watch LSU football until he was fired. I am convinced that if we had any other coach who wasn’t so stubborn, we would have won that natty in 2011/12. I held up that deal and only started watching again last season when it seemed like he was going to be fired.

Halftime was bizarre. I remember suggesting to some people that we come out in a five-wide formation, Lee in at QB and air it out for an entire drive. Even if it was three straight incompletions. Saban doesn’t respond that well to instant change, and that’s why we beat him the first time.

Miles thought the reason we beat him the first time was because Jordan was an athlete and ran the ball a lot and froze the linebackers. The true part of that statement is freezing those big backers. They didn’t know what was happening because they didn’t spend a lot of practice time on it.

By the time the Natty rolled around....we just decided to do the same exact shit. Expecting Saban wouldn’t be prepared. Boggles my mind to this day.

Deferred when we won the coin flip instead of taking the ball. 5 run plays and only 1 pass, and the "pass" was a shovel pass that was basically a jet sweep for -3 yards.

We're keeping up the strategy we had in the second half of WVU last week and I don't get it. We're going against the entire almost two decade long identity of the team.

I want to believe Jackson can be Watson 2.0 in the NFL. I really do. But Watson never had the accuracy issues that Jackson does. Watching him overthrow that wide open guy was painful.

How are so many coaches caught sleeping on close okays like that? It the first half, call a timeout to force a longer look at the Texas play.

Was a heck of a play on part of Texas, but you have to ensure it's looked at closer if you're OSU.

lol at that takeaway from why they won the first game in which they didn't even score a TD. Somehow I think Bama having a FG kicker who couldn't make didley squat had more to do with the result rather than "Saban doesn't respond well to instant change."

In two games, they scored a grand total of 9 points. People focus on the NCG because they were completely shut down and lost, but they never moved the ball consistently in the first game either and iirc Jefferson was way more effective in that game than Lee ever was. I'm not saying they shouldn't have ever put Lee in, but acting like he was going to come in and win that NCG is a laughable notion. Bama was a better team.

Are you talking about the same Deshaun Watson who threw 17 interceptions in his junior year at Clemson?

Not only do the service academies count as universities, but during World War II flight schools and training programs fielded college football teams. In 1943 Iowa Pre-Flight finished second in the country.

Also threw for 41 TDs at a 67% rate, but sure, let's ignore that bit. Meanwhile, Jackson is throwing above 60% for the first time in his career this season, and he's barely hitting that.

I love Watson as much as the next guy, but keep in mind that he had a RB that got drafted in the 4th round to hand the ball off to, a great offensive line, and 6 NFL-caliber receivers to throw to, including Mike Williams who got drafted at #7 overall last year
I think Lamar's done pretty well for himself given what he's had to work with

Yeah, I thought that was funny. We were the better team in the first game, but, Foster.

Still, thought it was interesting to read, especially the bit about the team being told they were playing Bama again and them being sick about it lmao

Yeah, Lamar's supporting cast is garbage, but the constant overthrows are all on him.

He's an incredible weapon but he routinely misses throws most above average QBs make.

Jesus that spin move. Certainly not saying he isn't fun to watch.

Is he constantly overthrowing people? Not really paying attention to this game, but he's seemed reasonably accurate downfield this season. Not great, but it's hard to be when he's got pressure in his face every snap.

It was really noticeable during the NC State game, and he's had a few bad ones this game. There was one in particular where he had tons of time but didn't set his feet properly so he missed a wide open guy.

I think that was our first drive with more than one throw past the LOS, and we ended up with a touchdown. Funny how that works.

I have no clue how BC put up 24 on UVA in the 1st half. The ACC is weird man.

The message boards have already started. I suspect FSUTwitter will stick to shittalking Kelly for now.

I just turned on the FSU game, I don’t know why. I suppose only giving up 28 points ain’t bad, still a quarter left for Kelly’s D to show its true colors

It's not all things considered, but FSU doesn't have the horses to keep up on offense.

That's the thing, though. They do. They absolutely do. Only Alabama and Ohio State are more talented than FSU is top to bottom.

Jimbo needs to take a hard look at his staff.

With Blackman running the show, they don't. This might end up being a blessing in disguise for FSU though because Francois isn't around to cover up the holes in the coaching.
