No, It's undisputed truth. Look on places outside the old GAF echo chamber and you will see that this sites reputation has been in the toilet for years now. And it was entirely because of one sided moderation that forced members to have to tow a party line and walk on egg shells or be perma-banned.
I myself had quit posting here for that very reason. Angry dog piles that lead to no sensible discussion, only quote bombing, playing defense and an inevitable ban became the status quo for anyone with a dissenting opinion.
Calling someone a gamer-gater, a nazi, or some other baseless, discussion squelching accusation is why the internet hates GAF. And it didn't used to be like that here. It doesn't have to be like that either. The only reason I'm back posting right now is because I hold out real hope that the problems mentioned above can stop. That there will no longer be a protected class of posters of whom the rules and TOS don't apply.
If things eventually become what they were, I'll calmly bow out again, no account suicide, just walk away, that's what grown ups do.
But for now, I'm willing to give GAF a chance because it legitimately was the best place for discussing just about anything on the internet and I think it can be that again, for everyone, not just a protected group.
Part of being a functional adult is dealing with the real world, and the people in it who all won't have the same opinions as you.
