What does that entail?
Playing a lot and submitting a lot of bug reports. As far as I know anyway.

All right, time to start working on that new thread. Any subtitle ideas?]

Star Citizen Alpha 3.0 | Pow! Straight to the Moons!
Star Citizen Alpha 3.0 | One Step Closer to Hamill-Time

Edit:

All Concierge are Wave 1 PTU from now on. Awesome. :)

Is this the version worth playing? I don't mean this in a troll way, I just honestly lost all interest and have no idea of the significance 3.0 has. I dabbled around with the version out now, but didn't really feel anything towards it.

It depends what you didn't like or what you missed in 2.6.
3.0 is a lot more worth it due to planets, cargo basics, and a lot of other stuff, but it's not there yet for everyone, and it might still miss stuff that you're looking for.
Still, a lot of new features/updates.

No Squadron 42 at CitizenCon. Targeted for the holiday stream in December.

"With Star Citizen Alpha 3.0 in Evocati test phase and a lot of our developers working on wrapping up the remaining features and polish needed to get 3.0 into everyone's hands, we have decided to focus CitizenCon on Alpha 3.0 and beyond.
Squadron 42 will be the focus of our Holiday Livestream in December, where we will preview some gameplay and share our roadmap for its completion."

Other CitizenCon schedule details:

At least they're giving more notice this time, and actually setting a target for it. Getting a roadmap for it will be nice too.

Hahaha, that's what, the fourth year of delay?

And they don't expect it to come in 2018 either? So 5 years delay! Fucking hell.

And Citizencon is going to be another hilariously padded filler presentation of 3.0 again. Brilliant.

Squadron 42 at the holiday stream ? never heard that one before.

Well at least this time they communicated it in advance which is an improvement.

As with other communities, the Discord invitation link had to be disabled. I've sent an update to existing org members who filled out info in the roster - please check your SC account.

I've transferred the NeoGAF Star Citizen org ownership to an alt account. If any existing org members would like to take it from here, just reply here.

If no one else does, I might. But give other folks a chance first. I felt like the rush to start a new org was premature and just served to split the orgs size. I am still debating joining the new org or sticking with the old one. Or just striking out on a new one altogether.

I’ve got a ton of ships at this point... but no time to actually play. Can we loan ships out yet? Prob not I suspect.

I came for the usual salt and ill informed FUD from our resident "currently not employed in game development in any capacity what so ever no ever have been" experts claiming its all impossible and lies that tends to follow anything CIG do, yet this is remarkably serene and tranquil.

It seems this new style of presentation where they shove what they are actually doing right down your throat has proved that some people have been right all along, and some people have been embarrassing shitlords.

I backed Star Citizen years ago. I think I've got a Redeemer or a Warden as well as an Avenger in my hangar.

I always expected it would take a long time given how ambitious the concept was and how Chris Roberts laughs in the face of feature-lock down. But si Star Citizen something that could be considered a game yet? Or is it still very compartmentalized?

The last time I touched you modified your hangar content through the website and you could walk around your ship feeling cool and fly some smaller craft around a giant orbital laser thing. It was cool, but it was a tech demo/sandbox

I'm still looking forward to it and I don't regret the money I did sink into it, but it's been a long wait, that's for sure.

As you can see above they have come a long way. Soon (TM) they will release Alpha 3.0 which will be more like a game yet. Though it is still missing a lof of its features. I'd say if you come back in a year (or two) it should be close to finish its alpha state and you can call it a real game.

I can't wait!

What I posted above is an entire city planet they made, of course not everything is explorable, not enough VRAM in this video cards to support though.

But yeah, they've come a long way.

Next patch is 3.0 the "Jesus" patch, it only gets better from there.

As explained elsewhere, the action wasn't taken purely because of the state of NeoGAF. That simply acted as an impetus to put what we'd previously been discussing into action. Members of the org - the most active ones at least - were becoming increasingly dissatisfied with the state of SC discussion on GAF. (There's a reason 90% of the SC conversation happened in the Discord server.) As such, the [NEOGAF] org SID didn't really feel like it was representing us anymore. We might have all come from GAF over the years, but the bonds that had formed as a group had transcended that origin. A new org would allow us to have an identity of our own.

Beyond that, a large number of org members were effectively in hibernation - having not seen a login for over a year. By moving to a new org we were capable of purging the people that were members in name only and get a better feel for the real size of the org. Those that don't respond to the transfer were either against it ideologically or weren't following SC at all anymore and likely won't be back any time soon. In both cases, it works in our favor. Interest in the game and unity within the org are more important than some inflated member size.

Meanwhile the decision to purge the org of all members rather than rely totally on invites was dual purposed. Some people have new invites blocked, and there's no way with the limited org tools to communicate to the org members at large announcement style. A Spectrum post is about as close as it gets, and that's useless for those that haven't logged in. Being expelled notifies a member no matter what. Beyond that, it's simply not the org that many joined anymore. The most active members are gone including all the ones that were doing management. There'd be tons of people with zero leadership. The vast majority of the larger org-related ships also went with the core group. While there's certainly nothing wrong with an org starting out with mostly starter packages and organically climbing there way up, members could have very well joined knowing we had the fleet infrastructure to hit the ground running. Once we left, that simply wasn't the case. You and Mylene would have been the only ones remaining with larger ships, and Mylene has been MIA for what feels like ages.

So yeah, you're more than welcome to take the org over if you want to rebuild it from scratch. The only reason we didn't outright dissolve it was to prevent the SID from being hijacked by other communities with a longstanding hatred of GAF.
