Regarding Bakbattahl there are three ways to get there that I know of:

- Go to checkpoint town and when the gate opens for a carriage, run for it. That's considered a crime and soldiers will attack you. You gain an achievement for doing that.

- There's a cave east of checkpoint town. I was actually looking for the missing kid. Entered the wrong cave and ended up in bakbattahl. That's no easy path and you will struggle if you're not well prepared. Unfortunately for the kid, my trip took too long and wolves ate him.

- Just keep doing the quests for captain Brant. Eventually he will give you a permit and a PORTCRYSTAL.
Lol, didn't know about the first one, that's quite clever.

There's another way: through the coast in eastern Batthal, you can directly access the city.

I think I spent 4 hours with the game last night and didn’t complete a single quest or task that I set out to do, lol.

I be did however come out victorious in a three way boss fight between the more powerful ogre, a golem and a griffin. That shit was intense.
ok but how many goblins did you kill? doesn't matter, not enough.

I haven't tried the archer but i heard that like half of its skills are based on consumable special arrows and that is a no go to me.

I would try the class just to try the kick move to kick mofos off cliffs :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

Btw i must be one of the few who really doesn't give a fuck about the grabbing\climbing monster mechanic...it is just super boring to me to just grab on enemies, reaching their weak point and just mashing a button over fighting in the traditional way with good positioning, using skills, mixing normal attacks, jump attacks etc.
I know they slightly expanded what you can do while being on the monster but it just feel too safe and boring as a playstyle even if it look epic sometimes, i tried one time in this one and one time in dd1 and never tried again.

I always have a thief in my group so he can do all the grabbing :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

Thief and archer have amazing synergy, cos archer gets the bonuses to surprise attacks and weak point damage. Unlock them and move to Thief for insane damage potential. Or wait for Warfarer and have both :D

For instance: A quest starts to find a boy who was dragged off by wolves. I had to talk to people in the town to get more info. Fine, there are about 30 or more people walking around, but I talked to everyone of them and 3 of them responded to the quest, eventually giving me a map marker where to look for the dude. I go there, but there's nothing and the marker disappeared as well.
The people you talk to tell you he liked picking the flowers there, another tells you the flowers glow at night.

I'm not gonna burn myself out of the game by leveling classes that i don't care for.

My program is to max warrior, then switch to spear dude and maybe try the trickster for the funny shanenigans.

When your pawn is hired with a quest, I'd assume if they kill an ogre or whatever the quest you gave them is they get credit for that towards the medal. But do they also get credit for any other monsters they kill? Like if someone using my pawn kills like 20 dragons, will my pawn get 20 kills towards the medal?

What even is the point of the medals anyway?

Playing as intended then.

dunno

They get better at fighting monsters. For example, I started noticing how my pawn would grab cyclops by the legs to make them topple over much more often.

Is that tied to the medals? I mean I guess it is at least indirectly because higher number = more fight experience, but I assumed that their skill is also dependent on what they see in battle. Like you can kill 50 cyclops, but if they never see you attack the head they also will never attack the head.

So much of this overlaps so frankly it could be as simple as each kill adding more fight knowledge/abilities and it would likely feel exactly the same. But for instance I've only killed 3 or so dragons but my pawn knows to go HAM on the heart when it is downed. Very obvious tactic, but I happened to never be a melee class when I've fought a dragon so I think my pawn learned it from the other pawns.

On a side note, watching two thieves and a warrior go absolutely nuts on a downed dragons heart is so, SO satisfying to watch.

They only get the medal for the quest you set when they’re hired while away. But you can do any badge by yourself and get credit for it; ie if you have a pawn quest set for a cyclops and you go out yourself (and with your pawn obviously) and kill an ogre it will count towards the ogre badge.

Monster badges make them a bit more aware of how to fight those monsters, field badges make them more aware of the area/caves/chests etc.

That's a bit of a shame, I was hoping they would get credit for all kills. It is fun just exploring and getting into random fights and I was thinking of taking some of my favorite hired pawns to boost their badges, but if they don't get the kills I'll continue to rotate and work the badge quests.

Ferrystone to Vermund.
Oxcart to Bordertown.
Oxcart to Bak Batthal.
Problem solved.
Ferrystones are rare lol

This is what i had to do just last night. I was in Bak Bathal and the main quest wanted me to go to the harve village. I had to walk all the way back to bordertown because there is no taxi, then take the taxi to vermund. from vermund, i had to walk all the way to harve village because again, no taxi there either.

meanwhile im carrying a bunch of gems i need to trade in over at the elven village but there is no taxi service there either. i put a portal there but i have no ferrystones because they cost $8,000 and i need every penny to upgrade my gear at the moment. oh and the stupid cave with the dragon crystals trade in is too far away from bak bathal. so i just wasted like 20 minutes just going there only to find out that i cant use the 10 crystals ive acquired because i havent fully upgraded my armor yet. thanks!

i basically spent 3-4 hours doing one quest. im sorry but this is trash. once you unlock a city, fast travel should be available there. even with port crystals ive put in bak bathal and elven village, i just dont have enough ferrystones to travel back and forth.

I'd recommend you advance the main quest, get that gate in the bordertown to open and start enjoying the oxcart rides between Bak Batthal and there.

Have you gotten the port crystal from the guy at the cave? Also, come on, already in Batthal and no ferrystones? Explore more. :messenger_winking_tongue:

The armor sets drakes drop in the end game are really nice looking. I’m going to put in the time to collect them all. Wonder if there are any weapons and I just didn’t find any.

You know there's also the sky pulleys right? They take you a great deal of the way, and yes just ignore the harpies until get off.

I accidentally ended up killing her…bad time to cast cutting wind 🤪.

Surprised they allowed the players to kill kids TBH, but I guess with the wakestone system it wouldn’t cause too much of an uproar.
Same here, she ate my pawn's greatsword and got yeeted away. Spent a wakestone and everything was fine tho.

lol that's weird. What happens when you wait at the oxcart post in Battahl?
Yeah I used a wakestone right away too, but thinking back on it grabbing/tackling them might have been the cheaper option 🤪
Weird, my pawns didn't attack her, I just had to wait a bit till she got tired and then tackle her.
oh, so you could do that? I started attacking her, maybe that's why my pawns joined in too?

People are sleeping on how good ranger is by mid-game. Its very versatile but if you use it early on the weight/encumberance limits can make it seem like hard work. Special arrows are absolutely devastating and it really makes short work of any sort of flying enemy.
Yes that’s nice and all, but with thief I can just do this:

There’s a post to wait for the ox cart right across from the inn when you cross the gate at the border, it will be slightly on your right after you go down the steps, usually there’s a woman with a back pack standing slightly back from it.

I dunno I haven’t tried, it just struck me a while after the fact well after I saved over everything. But the carry mechanic ends up being a unique solution to a lot of quests. But you could probably come up with weirder shit than that.

Some people are asking what the point of NG+ is when the enemies stay the same, while I’m itching to play NG+ to find out what happens if I pull out the medusa head in that quest 😈

Well, if they want the child to shut up about magic and be quiet then than sounds like the best solution.:messenger_ok:

Yeah. I’m not sure what the issue is. Maybe he’s wondered too far too soon?

This. I had two port crystals by the time I went to Bakbattahl. I put one in the city that I didn't even have a permit for(past the gates) and another in Bakbattahl near the shops. Granted, I almost fully explored the first map before heading down there.

Now, about that ending... Man, I wished we could have fought that...

Man, what post game and what are you talking about here? I did fight what you mentioned in the spoiler (twice). I guess I'll look up how to get post game because the credits rolled for me and the game ended after the boss.

Does your title screen say Dragon's Dogma II? Or just Dragon's Dogma without the number?

Felt a little anti climatic for sure. I spent a few minutes preparing myself for the dragon and it was a cutscene. Was laughing my ass off.

The cutscene was hype though.
So, I'm not sure what you guys are talking about. I finished up every quest last night and started on my final quest. I get the dragon and he tells me to fight at this battlefield. So we do. I ended up closing the game because I'm pretty sure I should have done a thing on the trip to the battle field, and I'm going to load that last inn save and try next time I load up.

Medusa head for what quest? I used mine for the sculptor quest. I'm not sure what the regular outcome is, but it didn't seem to do anything better than have this guy say something about me having a medusa head.
Which spoils in about a day and a half, it appears.

You're fine. Fight the dragon and then use your instinct to figure it out. You'll see.

R Reizo Ryuu I redid my assassin quest and what I thought to do, was correct. For some reason, the same outcome, but she doesn't kill herself. She just gets arrested.

I also tried once to use the decoy as the decoy, and of course she notices it's not the real person.

You can get multiple ‘preserved medusa heads’; which lasts long enough if you stick it storage, but wondering what people can do with it to come up with weird solutions in other quests. The other one I’m interested in is how people can manipulate the ‘Sealing Phial’ item too.

Do the fight again and:

when at the heart, use the godsbane sword from inventory.

And c’mon guys it isn’t exactly spelled out…not surprising people miss it going in blind.

I’m just busting his balls obviously… but THE GIANT GLOWING HEART THAT SHAKES YOUR CONTROLLER didn’t cue you in? Come on. We’re pro gamers here.

To be fair it took me three tries to figure out what I needed to do exactly, but I knew there was something.

Yes, I was wondering why he said he wished you fought the dragon. Was that a dream sequence? I took a screenie of the finished dragon, me on the throne, and then I walked out of the throne room like a Chad. Credits rolled.
Dude you missed the really good stuff. Give it another go.

Edit: not a dream sequence.

In the lore you either play your part or break the cycle. You played your part in the ending you got, you didn’t break the cycle. Breaking the cycle is when Dragons Dogma 2 truly begins.

I'm doing it, I thankfully I marked the save when I am being congratulated. Save manager rocks!
