Gundam Extreme Vs set for PS3

thetrin

Hail, peons, for I have come as ambassador from the great and bountiful Blueberry Butt Explosion
Outside of the mission mode, is there are an offline practice mode to get acclimated to the game before hopping online?

I thought that a training mode was confirmed a while ago...

I believe you can go into free mode and set the enemy AI accordingly.

Also... found the GEXVS wiki: http://www29.atwiki.jp/arcgundamvs/

If you can read Japanese, that's definitely the go-to site for all your info needs regarding moves/combos/etc.

Still working on it, but here's a little teaser of the control scheme translation:

In order to save space and not make the OT an image dump, I'm just linking to bigger images (they don't link to anything just yet). I'll add the arcade notations to the arcade control pic as well since I've already done so with the PS3 controls. The wife's been really kind in helping me translate a bit of this as well, but of course big thanks to those who are already contributing. =)

I suppose the hardest thing for me, going into this game, will be choosing a whole new set of mains for my stable. Because beyond Master (whose cost has been raised, so I may not pick him as often as I do in Next+) and Virsago CB, most of my go-tos like Epyon, Virtue, Shining and GP03 are gone now.

Though, I thought I saw that GP01 does have an Izuna Drop now, right...? :lol

Thanks a lot, everyone! Here's to hoping the |OT| will be as good as the hype. xD

The Hayabusa clan would be proud. :3

As for mains, I've been back and forth about it as well. Been playing a lot of Destiny Plus and Next Plus lately and I'm leaning more towards the mid-range to long range characters. Destiny is still a top tier unit apparently going by older tier listings and was always a fave of mine in Next Plus, but I'd like to see how HeavyArms and the Crossbone Units fair, especially X-2 with its rather balanced moveset.

Excellent work on translating the images! This is actually all the info I'd need to decide on whether or not to pick up this game.

Good stuff. I also dislike image dumps but in a case like this I think it is super useful to have these translations. It will help out a lot of people.

There were not this many suits in the arcade version right? It seems like every series in represented in this! I must have it!!

ds, are you going to make custom stick art for this game?
I'm thinking about it. Dunno quite yet considering I don't necessarily want to mess with the Pedostick anytime soon. Maybe with my HRAP... hmmm.

Yeah, it's been rather tough going back and forth getting the proper translations, but people here and the wife have been helping me out a lot with them.

The easier it is for people who read this to jump in, the better... granted the battle system is easy to get into once you get a gist of the basics.
Sorry for dumb question but does this play like Virtual On?
Kinda in the sense that it is very much a battle arena type fighting, but on a grander scale. EXVS is 2v2 team battling and there's a bigger focus on melee versus VO.

There are only three console specific units on top of the original arcade units, so not really. But yeah, all the televised/movie/OVA series are covered with some manga sidestories in Crossbone and Seed Astray.

BTW, I love multiquote. Fucking finally!

Green homing?

It was kind of a glitch in the older games where when you've locked onto a unit and it's so far away that the lock on color is green, you shoot a weapon while locked on and before it is released from your unit, you switch your target to another enemy unit. This essentially makes the attack have the same homing ability on the enemy like it was a red lock on and increases the tracking of the attack from long distances.

Also, are the CPU commands the same as GvG Next?

Pretty sure that isn't in the game. In most cases that, would definitely simply be a glitch.

AI commands are the same as Next

Ah that's cool. That glitch made units with great long range attacks OP in the older ones since it took longer to traverse distance.

Awesome commercial.

Anyway, I should have that basic move list translated by Thursday, in time for the official thread to go up. I have the 1000s done already just got the others to do. It's a basic list of what moves are mapped to what buttons and no descriptions though, lol.

That's totally fine. Considering there's 60 units to go through, people can just assume what they do for now through the names, lol.

Big thanks again!

Also, another quick question you may or may not know. Will we have dogfight replays and other similar arcade aspects?

It just dawned on me that the Sentinel isn't in this game. Strange, it usually gets so much love from a vast majority of other Gundam games (namely the G Generation titles). Maybe it will end up being a DLC suit.

Up until this point the VS games were the main OVA and TV series. It wasn't until this game that some of the other stuff got into the game like Astray, Crossbone, and Igloo. So maybe they'll add Sentinel or they're saving it for the next game.

Outside of the Generation games, don't really remember Sentinel ever really getting any coverage in Gundam games.

:lol

This is right up there with the "Destiny is something we ALL must deal with..." series for me.

Hehe, thanks man. Made sense really, lol.

But yeah, new thread for new news and all that: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=452759

Linked it to an 18 minute presentation Namco did with Tekken's Harada about the console version of EXVS showing Hi-Nu, Dynames, and Blue Frame gameplay plus splitscreen arcade mode and some trial mode action.

Do you guys think the game will reduce in price to (60 to 40 dollars) after its released. 100 dollars is a bit expensive for an import or any game for me. :\

only other option is to wait a long time for it to be rerelease as the BEST version. it'll still be 60 dollars and you'll be waiting for awhile

Probably not. The lowest price you'll get is around $80 for the asian version (same exact game though): http://www.play-asia.com/Mobile_Suit_Gundam_Extreme_VS/paOS-13-71-bp-49-en-70-4ddf.html

That is tempting. Will the Japanese DLC suits work on it?

Will that include all DLC suits? How long of a wait are we looking at 6 months to a year? That would be awesome if so.

Also what chances are there for this to be Best version to release in the first place?

depends on if namco will include them or not. No, it's a long wait. I don't know when they'll do it. Tales of Vesperia has been out for awhile and namco still hasn't done a budget release for it yet.

Also not sure if you know but BEST version = Greatest hits in the US. I probably should have just used budget rerelease instead. Sorry about the confusion.

As of now, all the suits are on the disc via some unlock in game. No DLC suits have been announced. The only DLC are missions that will be free. As for them working... dunno.

As for a Best version, it took a year for Next Plus on the PSP to go Best.

Yep. You just need to have a JP PSN account setup. Though technically, the "DLC suit" is just a first print run code that will unlock HiNu from the jump instead of unlocking him normally.

I don't see any issue of the Asian version not accepting JP DLC considering they're the same game, but you never know with Scamco... even if it is free.

Didn't one of the Tales games have DLC available for the Japanese version but not for the Asian one?

Question to people in this thread who have pre-ordered this title. Did you use rush shipping (EMS, FedEX, UPS, etc) or regular air mail?

I used EMS. I figured I'm already spending nearly $100 so what's another $20 for rush shipping...

Went through AmiAmi and am using EMS...same logic as you. Probably the only game I'd be willing to spend this much on in the first place.
