Let's just spam Frankie stuff until he unleashes the Halo 4 info to make us stop.

What's that on his head?

Still want a Mini-game playlist with

-Smash Ball
-Cat n Mouse
-Jump Rope
-Speed
-Armor Walkers
-Cloneball
-Zombies WITH ACTUAL ZOMBIE MAPS!

Everything DarthHuman has posted is great and so are the other community games The ForgeEpidemic posts. I REALLY hope 343i talks to them if they plan on doing a mini-game playlist

A FFA Action Sack would be great, throw some race maps and the best mini-games out there.

Yeah just throw race into the list I posted and we are all good to go.

Sadly I doubt we will ever see a playlist like that :(

Hopefully we get Race as our next task. But we never know what the next edict is - we tell all the communitieis within a day or two of getting the all clear to announce collection.

Also, because Race maps wouldn't be limited by a 4 split configuration. Minimum would be 2.

re: credits

I have like 5 or 6 million in the bank. Why can't I donate this shit. I want to give it to poor obese children like Juices so he can reach for the stars.

Would kill any form of digital economy, you could make 6 accounts max them all out per day and donate all the funds into a single account and have 100% armoury and max rank 6x faster than a regular player could ever hope for.

::sigh::

Oh, Elzar - I can understand folks who stick around here primarily, but you're supposed to be paying attention to the HBO front page. We mentioned this gametype back in October. :(

I never visit HBO, not sure why, i dont dislike the site at all its just not something iv ever done, Thats my new years resolution visit HBO more.

This is a serious question, being max rank for months now, why do you still care about credits? Is there some sub community who is having a contest to see who can attain the most?

And why would 343 carry over the garbage ranking system from Reach?
Being a regular player (and fan) of Halo and Halo: Reach, I am interested in nearly all aspects of the game, especially changes made after 343 Industries has taken over. To me, the handling of Halo 3 and Reach are a preview of things to come from future titles in the franchise.

While credits in Reach are pretty much useless to players who have reached the rank of Inheritor, the recent bug introduced by the credit cap change in early December had other effects, like killing commendation progress under certain conditions. Hopefully this bug has been squashed after yesterday's maintenance.

As for your comment that the ranking system in Reach is "garbage", I can't say that I agree. It was an incentive system that rewarded significant playtime, and curbed the stream of new accounts that plagued Halo 3, both improvements that are essential to bolstering the online playerbase.

That's probably the exact reason why they don't have a digital economy in Halo. Gold farming, being able to buy armor with real money, and multiple accounts.

Welp HaloGAF I just found out I have to have surgery and will be out of work for 4 weeks :(
I feel your pain, man. How long are you going to be in the hospital afterwards, or is it more of an outpatient thing? I ask because being in the hospital is fucking terrible, with the exception of the ICU nurses.

Halo does have a digital economy, the cR system acts as a digital economy, the only thing that separates it is you can put real money into it to gain faster credits.

Its still an economy and its still digital.

Work(playing) earns Money(credits) that you buy Goods(armor) with.

Heh, I have a very bad habit of not checking the front page, because of my bookmark, which takes me to the HBO forum.

I mean remember this from Grim?

But as of this moment, this has changed, the front page is now my first bookmark. : )

I would disagree that it's an economy, because there is no true trade and it's a closed system between two entities. But that's just semantics.

Player investment system =/= economy

Maybe, when you start thowing a money system into things and a shop ect its trying pretty hard to mimic some kind of economy even if that economy is one sided.

I agree however its no a true economy that "money" once used is gone forever you cant sell you cant trade its essentially just a Store.

It is NOT the credits that curbed the stream of new accounts it is the lack of a legitimate ranking system.

Tying player investment to skill ranking is not necessary to give competitive players something for which to strive. New accounts do disrupt matchmaking in many areas and are undesirable. The Reach system isn't anywhere near close to perfect, but it is better in some ways, and definitely not "garbage".

And what exactly is illegitimate about the Arena?

It's garbage.

The problem with Arena ranking (aside from the system itself) is that it's only in one playlist. If the system was used in all competitive playlists it'd be so much better. I'm not going to get a certain rank in a playlist that means practically nothing if I go into another.
Also, you have to go through around 10 menus to see what someones Arena rank is.

I didn't play near as much Reach as I did Halo 3 but it seems like there wasn't a night of playing Halo 3 where someone wasn't pedaling a level 50 account for MS points or whatever. Does this happen in Reach with inheritor? I think people were a whole lot more invested in the skill rankings than the rankings we have in Reach.

An incentive system that is purely cosmetic and ends basically halfway through the ranks. There's really nothing to keep you interested armory wise once you hit around the half moon rank, and then your only reason to keep playing and investing in it is to see your icon change about every 3-4 months. I don't think this system had anything to do with curbing alt accounts, the Arena being irrelevant and people generally just not liking the game as much as past titles did that. Even then, I see new accounts in the MLG playlist all the time, people do not care about Reach's ranking system aside from a few people who killed themselves to reach max rank before the game was even out for a year, I understand they need to justify it in some way I guess.

Um, that is a perfect example of an illegitimate ranking system. Was that a typo earlier?

Oh I am not saying the Halo 3 system was perfect either the problem was eventually it was impossible to increase your level even if your skill level improved. So to get around it people would make new accounts. I was just using the selling of accounts as an example that people actually cared about ranks back then. So I guess you were right people don't give a shit thus fixing the problem of creating new accounts. I just don't think it was the right way to go about it.

Don't forget about that Haunted Helmet! What more incentive do you need for playing, besides the
5
quality maps and the massive array of playlists. :-b

I don't like asking for stuff knowing it'll make the person waste time and/or work
Ah, so you'd rather subcontract it out. Gotcha.
