Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
I doubt that Masuda will be tweeting about his appearance for an announcement that Corocoro revealed just recently - KELDEO.

It wouldn't surprise me, they've done that sort of thing before.

If you can't trade back and forth and battle with Black and White, it most certainly does not make sense.

Why wouldn't they let you do that? There's no technological reason that Black/White and a theoretical 3DS game couldn't communicate.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Ok, at this point it's better for it not being just Keldeo. Come on, Masuda.

Keldeo = Water Horse.

Hippopotamus = Greek for "river horse".

Therefore, Keldeo = Hippo.

The big announcement is that Game Freak have been given the go-ahead by world leaders to genetically redesign all the world's hippos so they look like tiny unicorns with blue croissants stuck to their heads.

Theoretically, sure. Reality, Black and White would have to have been made with 3DS communication in mind. It's a possibility but I just don't see it.

It's unlikely at this point, Masuda doesn't make blog posts like that *before* the show for stuff like that. It's almost definitely a game at this point.

I mean, heck it's been two years since B/W were announced. GF is nothing if predictable, even if they've kinda shaken things up a bit by putting B/W on DS.

Lemme just throw it out there that I hope that there are RSE remakes this gen, they come before Grey. Having the final "definitive" games in a generation being remakes strikes me as a little weird.

From Bulbapedia..

.."While it is not known to evolve to or from any other Pokémon, it has a second Forme called Origin Forme, revealed in early February of 2008, whereas its original physical appearance in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl is now called Altered Forme.."

waaaaaaa! x))

What about DS to DSi communication? Keep in mind that GF were (one of the?) first to get their hands on a 3DS dev kit, so they would have time to prepare a workaround a la IV->V.

Doesn't that make Grey even more likely? If not this week, then in the coming months.

Not really, the 3DS game just has to behave like a DS game when interacting with a DS version. It's not a problem, just like how Gold and Silver communicated with Red/Blue.

I kinda hope they leave RSE alone, personally. The first two generations were remade because there was no way to connect them into the current lineup of video games, but RSE is still connected in that you can transfer them into the fourth generation, and thus the fifth. I don't think there's any reason to remake Pokemon games anymore, I'd rather see them continuously move forward from here on out.

Gold and Silver were gameboy games with GBC enhancements. Not quite the same thing. The base technology was identical.

Again, Black and White were DS games with DSi enhancements. The communication code was exactly the same.

You can't compare either example to a 3DS Grey communicating with a DS Black and White. I'm not saying they couldn't, I'm just saying it's a very different thing. I'M JUST SAYING.

What about Crystal?
Good example. But was Crystal a wholly Color game? I mean, I know it didn't run on the original gameboy, but was that because it was actually a color game, base and all, or simply because the enhancements on top of it couldn't be paired down to a gameboy form? I never played Crystal so I don't know how much it differs from Gold and Silver.

They didn't have to code 3rd gen games for future compatibility with Pal Park, did they?
This isn't, though. Pal park isn't the same thing at all. All pal park does is read the data on the battery save then selectively delete it to give the illusion of 'migrating'. It's not the same as true two-way communication needed for battles.

GameFreak would glare really hard at Nintendo if they made the 3DS not able to import data from DS games.

Dunno about direct communication though.

If the announcement is about the next mainline Pokemon a lot of people are going to be disappointed ;D

Let's see if my prediction/rumour was right!

There was supposed to be an "if" in there. While Gen III is still connected, actually transferring things over is increasingly going to be a hassle.

Pokémon FireRed/LeafGreen and Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald coming to the 3DS store with a code wrapper that lets it work for PalPark.

Honestly buddy I see Gen 5 being a short one, with R/S/E coming out as Gen 6. I don't think anybody expected the DS to have as long a life as it did, hence Gen 5 was made.

Exactly my thoughts. While I really want to play through Hoenn with the physical/special split, it makes magnitudes more sense to wait until Gen VI.

Grey's still coming out on 3DS, though.

Black & White 2 on DS. It can't happen!

...I hope :p

We already had a Crystal remake. HeartGold and SoulSilver contained all the plot elements of Crystal.

Pokemon HG/SS can't trade vice versa or do battles with Pokemon B/W.

If the next step is to provide full compatibility between all Pokemon 3DS titles in the future, Game Freak will have to remake "third" games such as Yellow and Crystal *with the exception of Emerald for which R/S remakes will come out next year 2013*

What?

Of course HG/SS can't trade or do battles with B/W - they're different gen and don't have the Unova region Pokémon programmed into them. How would remaking Crystal (which wouldn't happen as you don't just release one singular Pokémon game, you release them in pairs/trios) remedy that situation?

I actually don't understand what you're asking for.

I'm not asking for anything. What I'm saying is that if Game Freak wants to have a full compatibility with their future Pokemon titles then they'll have to remake old titles such as Yellow and Crystal to match with Grey and R/S remakes.. assuming that they're coming.

I'm lost. Between all the titles that ARE compatible, you don't need the third versions to get anything that's been officially released. Crystal and Yellow's added features are part of the series now, so that would have been unnecessary either way.

For the love of money, of course they'll do that ;)
