Wii U Speculation Thread The Third: Casting Dreams in The Castle of Miyamoto

It was basically Nintendo saying "Hey! See here?! We can get third parties on board too!"
The same reason that had the CEO of EA come on stage and basically say nothing.
EA's end of year output on Wii U will be interesting though. Madden, FIFA, NFS '13 and Medal of Honour Warfighter will be there I suppose.

Well, then if it's good on the other systems it will be good on this one then. That's fine with me because I only by games for one system.
Sure thing. It's going to be the best version for this, but it's not going to be a shiny game for the system in the long term.

(gonna buy it, too!) :)

Well guys we posted 6 pages so far today...

If we end up posting an average of 3 pages a day we'll only make it 66 days. We're going to need a 4th topic for sure.

Sucks at viral marketing
And yet this thread moves like there is all kinds of news happening...
It's not the thread itself, its a very small group of posters keeping this thing up. The top 5 together make up more than 1 in every 3rd post and are posting at a rate of about once a minute. Guek already has his own page (for those 50 post per page people).

Seeing the Konami-Seinfeld.gif makes me wonder in what ways Konami won't support a Nintendo console and/or handheld. I mean not even a peep about a 3DS Castlevania. Igavania is dead I guess. Maybe we'll get lucky and get Lords of Shadow 2 for Wii U.

On the other hand, it's Konami. "Hey guys here's MGS SE 3D! Cool huh? Oh and here you have the HD collection including 3, 2 and Peace Walker lol"

My final predictions from LAST YEAR's E3 thread.

Final predictions:

-Cafe/Controller Reveal

-Pikmin 3
-F Zero
-Smash Bros teaser
-Skyward Sword release date
-New Super Mario Bros 2
-Kirby Wii
-Super Mario 3DS
-Zelda 25th Anniversary
-Mario Kart/Paper Mario 3DS
-Retro's new game
-Grand Theft Auto V (MEGATON)

Got the bolded.

Hilariously enough, I expect nothing more than the non-bolded this year. Retro's new game will be either Zelda or F-Zero for Wii U, we'll see Pikmin and a Smash Bros teaser, and GTA V will be confirmed for Wii U (not really a megaton anymore, lol).

Maybe a date and price. November 18 for $299.

there was a questionable interview posted at the tail end of the last thread though

I still don't see what the problem is with it. He seemed to be paraphrasing so as to protect his source, and rumors are rumors they're supposed to be taken with a grain of salt anyways. Not only that but it is in line with a lot of other rumors seen in the last thread.

What stands out to me is that it claims to be an interview, not just an insider source leak. It's just suspicious because it really does read like a summary of our last thread

That's the thing that annoyed me the most last year. I was all hyped up (OMG a new generation of Nintendo games HERE I COME) and Iwata only teased Smash Bros. Well, at first I was annoyed but afterwards I kind of laughed because in some ways the Smash Wii U announcement is somewhat similar to the Smash Bros. announcement back in 2005 :p

My first post in here will be about my predictions for this year's E3 (Wii U-wise):

Pikmin 3
Super Smash Bros Teaser Mention
Crytek are invited to talk
Ubisoft are invited to talk
Assassins 3 trailer, remastered versions of 1 and 2 to be released online
Hands-on with the finalized hardware and OS
Netflix, Youtube, Twitter, Facebook support
Metroid game announcement

This is not how Nintendo operates. After E3 there will probably be another 3 months of silence and then they release all the info about everything on a some random day.

It happened with DS and Wii.

We'll have time to dissect every Wii U footage on every gaming website & video sharing platform, we always find some shiny gold nuggets news-worthy AFTER the E3 storm, like dormant-interesting-infos.

And developers will talk more freely about their projects, time to dig the interviewer's jacket & 80's rayban's & 60's recorder out from my customized pinky treasure chest.

The most exciting & thrilling & tantalizing time is right here guys, PROFIT ! When you'll have the padlet in your hands since several days, it will not be the same, you know it.

Oh yeah i'm only on page 3 :p

Guys think about it. March is basically over. Then we only have april and may. Throw in weekends, showers, sleeping, eating, school/work, etc...and april is really only like 3 days long. Same applies to May.

It'll go by like this *snaps fingers*.

Time does indeed fly. The part after E3 when we're dissecting everything with exquisite precision is going to be fun. And then we'll move-on to speculate about preordering, price, release date, "how many units is your GameStop getting?" "what time are you getting there to line-up?" etc.

Quoted some interesting stuff:
Wii U already can run something akin to Unreal Engine 3.9 but I find this whole topic much less noteworthy than many are making it out be. While details on feature requirements for the new engine are nearly zero, comments from Epic suggest that there should be no reason why the Unreal Engine 4 won’t be able to scale “down” to work on the Wii U. Just remember that that it’s not power that is the main factor for an engine, rather, it’s the features offered by the hardware and the age of the hardware. For example, in theory, if there were to be an Unreal Engine 4 right now, it possibly could be scaled down in terms of power to work on the PS3 and 360 because they support the features that are considered standard across the industry. However, in reality, when the Unreal Engine 4 is released we probably won’t see much Unreal Engine 4 on them because those systems are aging. The modern hardware going into Wii U could be new enough to support the Unreal Engine 4 at least on a scaled down level in terms of power.

See, this is specifically the issue that was encountered with the Wii, which Nintendo wants to avoid. The problem wasn’t so much that the hardware was weak, rather, it was that the hardware didn’t follow industry standards at the time and therefore impossible for developers to easily port the newest engines to the Wii. The Wii U solves this and more. More than a year ago, the Wii U dev kits were already souped up Xbox 360′s in some ways. So, developers were basically just “dragging and dropping” their PC and 360 code onto the early Wii U hardware last year, even before any new software and projects had begun development. This is how games like Darksiders 2 were up and running on Wii U hardware for E3 2011 after only a matter of weeks in development, though Nintendo finally decided not to show the “instant” port those developers had completed.

From the 360? But what about Direct X?

Many 360 and PC games run on engines like the Unreal Engine 3, and Unreal Engine 3 runs great on Wii U. Remember, DirectX, like OpenGL, is not an engine, they are API’s. Most games are made with an engine like Unreal Engine in order to be easily ported cross-platform.

ahh the lurking days...
i remember when they showed some gameplay videos and people were saying the graphics were worse than ps360....then they figure out the gameplay vids were from the other 2 consoles XD

Have there been any rumblings at all if EA has an exclusive, even timed, in the works or are they just going to launch with extensions of their fall line up on Wii U?

So Assassin's Creed III is going to suck?
Assassin Creed is a Game developed with X360 and Ps3 in mind. It's the third (BIG NEWS!) of a well known serie.

I don't like the serie, but this is another matter XD

Thinking about Ubisoft and it's approach with Nintendo console, we can do a comparison with Red Steel and the first Rabbids thing.

I feel so sad the only "Brand new" game announced till today it's an Ubisoft experiment :(
Starting from the contrl scheme, it sounds to be a step backward from Wii Mote :(
