Anyone else not hating the whole 3D anime thing?

There's so much dissonance between Fam and the rest of the show that it's crazy. She's Ai Tanabe, but a billion times more annoying - mostly because of what they have done to the story/world.
I don't dislike Fam, she is extremely optimistic and cheerful, but she's not too annoying really... but yes, the show does have massive tone dissonance between Fam and the main plot. She's super optimistic, while it's quite depressing. The original season isn't quite as bad with this, as I said; while not exactly cheerful the tone and body count are not as depressing and high as Fam's is, and while Claude isn't a brooding depressed guy (it's Lavie who goes through a bout of that), he's not Fam-cheerful either. Also the villains' motivations make a bit more sense in the first series -- sure, the Guild aren't nice people, and their motivations are somewhat similar to the villains in Fam's, but their actions are somewhat different in some ways that matters (
they aren't trying to commit genocide, as far as I can remember
). As we both agree, the attempts in Fam to justify the villains' cartoonishly Air Nazi actions just do not work compared to the horror of what they have done,
and I just can't believe that Liliana would accept it. "I need to commit genocide against returners like your nation because there aren't enough resources on Earth to go around, and if you kill me it'll divide this nation in a bloody civil war" "Okay, I'm up with that, I care for you now!"
... Okay, that's not exactly what they said, but that's the general idea, isn't it? And it's stupid. What about, like,
telling them that, and trying to convince some to return to their hourglass worlds or something? I don't know, it could happen!
But he doesn't even tell them his issue, he just starts murdering them.

So yeah, I'm sad that she's dead, but it's entirely her own dumb fault.

Apart from that, I still think that Fam is overall about as good a lead as Claus is, though; sure, some people may find her more annoying thanks to the cheerfulness, but I do like that the harem element of the first series doesn't really exist this time (unless you'd say that there's a yuri harem here? I don't thnk it's quite as clear as the harem element was in the first show though.).

It's too bad, because they hockey scene way back in episode 10 or whenever was really enjoyable for me. It made the whole thing personal and kept everything to a small, believable scale. Now it's just absurd, especially given what they have done.
Indeed.

Could somebody with superior JP sleuthing skills help me solve this mystery? In Kozaki's Illustration book, KYMG, there's a section for something called "The Digital Anthem," and in the bottom right corner it notes "2003 Gainax". Any further than that, I know nothing, and my google-fu produces absolute bunk.

All y'all will need to educate me on this Nintendo video bs, because only 4 videos pop up and only 1 part of thanatos risisng is one of them. :(

Did you just buy a 3DS?

I saw the hnng and rushed to the sh- no I can't lie, I bought one last year.

they're releasing them weekly in pal regions ;_;

Deep down I was really hoping it was because I suck at Nintendo systems outside of putting a game in the console and hitting play. Curse your hatred of the EU *shakes fist*

Verify your connection again. It should start downloading the rest.

I did that even left it in sleep mode overnight seems like Nintendo just plain hates my region. T_T

After all that I learn nothing new.

Sakurai is an employee of Nintendo. I'm sure he eats better than all of us.

Technically, I don't think he is. A bro, unless the subset that is 'Project Sora' makes it otherwise. I'm not sure. Still, as it looks, he doesn't even reside under their banner and gets carte blanche to the war-chest!

Another 11

This episodes managed to piss me off a bit.
On one hand, it's good how all those morons managed
to kill themselves.
On the other hand, the idiocy in this episode was too much to take, with Sakakibara being so useless that it hurts my brain. Why the hell didn't he tell the dude that rushed into his room to
shut the fuck up and let Misaki tell who the dead person was?
Then there is the whole other problem in regard to the cassette. Why the fuck are these dumb-fucks
having every and each moron listen to that cassette after they understood what kind of ordeal would be necessary and understandign that finding who the dead person is sorta impossible (except for Misaki)? What kind of idiot wouldn't picture the kind of shitstorm such a thing would start when a bunch of mentally unstable individuals get told killing the dead person would fix things?
And Akazawa? Lol Akazawa. Her jealousy for Misaki is also another reason for part of that madness to start. Such a dumb character.
At least the reactions in this episode were funny and God, did I enjoy
Takako killing herself, like that other bitch that fell off the window. Too bad flea for brain Akazawa was quick to pin the blame on Misaki.

Project Sora is 72% owned by Nintendo and 28% owned by others, including Sakurai. So he's effectively first-party, since Nintendo holds the majority share of the studio. I'm sure Nintendo feeds him well.

Stop giving Nintendo money for shit they are already planning on revising!

Don't worry, I'll be buying that one too.

Gintama 251

Is it just me or has there been a Dragonball reference in nearly all of the last 20 episodes or so?

This also semi-confirms my suspicions that Sorachi has no idea what actually happened during the war and will just wing it if/when he finally decides to do Gintoki's back story.

Medusa and Palutena for Smash 4 plz. That series is a big sausage-fest.

To be fair, there really aren't very many female protagonists in Nintendo's first-party pantheon. I mean, there's Samus, and...uh. Yeah.

Peach is only there to get saved by Mario, Zelda's only there to get saved by Link, etc. etc.

Nintendo doesn't like making female characters playable in SSB... I mean, Brawl added solely male characters (no, Zero Suit Samus doesn't count as a new character), after all. I complained about that when the character list was announced and some people made the excuse that there weren't any good female characters to add, but that's ridiculous, of course there were... they just didn't want to add them.

But anyway, yeah, Palutena would be a cool addition. Pit was my favorite of the new characters in Brawl, and it'd be great to see her in the next one too.

Hell yeah, another Pit player! I would like to see one or both of the two ladies join in the fray. They'd be a nice addition.

Peach had her own game (lol), Zelda had that one game where she didn't need saving till the last dungeon. And there was that Dixie Kong in that other game as well.

Dang I'm really stretching it.

There's also Midna and...the reporter from Rhythm Heaven Fever.

Lyndis is the best Nintendo female.

Yeah, when Lyn wasn't a playable character in Brawl but was instead announced as an assist only was when I knew the game had a problem. As you imply, she absolutely should have been playable. Well, either her or Micaiah should certainly have been. (I say Micaiah because, as the co-main character and lead female character of the most recent FE game at that time, and as a mage too, it'd have been great to see her in the game... all FE characters in SSB so far have been sword fighters, and while Lyn uses a different style from the others, it is another sword fighter. Some variety would be nice, and I prefer mages and archers to swordfighters.)

Peach is usually useless, but Zelda has helped out a bit here and there, in some games... but sure, Nintendo doesn't have enough major female characters, but they certainly could have put in Lyn or maybe Micaiah instead of stupid Wolf or something! I mean, seriously, Wolf made it in but not Lyn? Really?

As for my favorite female Nintendo character... I'm not sure, really. I'll have to think about it. But my favorite Fire Emblem character probably was Florina from FE6; Lyn was my second favorite character, but Florina was my favorite, and the first member of my party who hit max level too (20/20 that is). In FE7 Lute was my favorite. As for 9/10... I don't know, maybe Ilyana. Yeah, Ilyana.

There's also Midna and...the reporter from Rhythm Heaven Fever.
OoT Zelda and Midna are probably my favorite female Zelda characters... Midna was the best character in TP's story for sure.

It wouldn't surprise me if Sakurai were close friends with Hosoda too.

That would be OoT, and yeah, OoT Zelda is the best Zelda. She only needs to be rescued at the very end (gets kidnapped right before the final dungeon, then you rescue her in it), and is Sheik, and in that guise she helps in resisting against Ganon, too.

WW Zelda is the second best Zelda. She only needs saving in the last quarter or third of the game or so, and was a pretty decent character before that too.

The one thing Zeldas have come to commonly do, even when they do next to nothing else of use through most of the game (like TP Zelda), is help out in the final battle -- WW Zelda does that, TP Zelda does, OoT Zelda... not quite, I guess, if I remember right, but she is there, and she helped you get through the tower... the first instance of this I know of though is the LttP-inspired comic from Nintendo Power, where Zelda shoots Ganon with the Light Arrow, freezing him so that Link can strike the killing blow. Of course, in the actual game Link did it all himself, but her role was expanded there in that comic.

And there was that Dixie Kong in that other game as well.

Dang I'm really stretching it.
Dixie Kong is the lead in DKC3 and DKL3, yes. And of course some other Nintendo-published Rare games have female characters in the group even if they're not the lead -- both KI games, D64, JFG, DKR, etc. all have that.

There's also Midna and...the reporter from Rhythm Heaven Fever.
Midna's not entirely playable of course, but I guess you do attack with her when in wolf mode, so maybe she partway counts as a playable character...

There aren't a lot more playable female characters in Nintendo games (outside of the Metroid series of course), but there are others. First, obviously all of the Fire Emblem games have lots of female characters, and several have female co-leads -- FE8 and FE10 have both male and female lead characters. FE7 also has Lyn as the lead in the first part of the game, too. And in Magical Starsign you can choose your main character's gender. This is true in all of the Pokemon games since Crystal, too. I think it's also true in a few other Japan-only Nintendo RPGs like Oriental Blue and Magical Starsign's predecessor, but I'm not certain. And on that note, Nintendo published (in Japan only, despite completing but not releasing a US translation) ASH, the strategy game with the scantily clad female lead.

Apart from that, obviously there are playable female characters in the Wario Ware series, though they aren't the lead... one with a female lead though is Drill Dozer, the GBA platformer by Game Freak with a female lead character.

Oh, and CluCluLand's main character is female. Not human, of course, but female. I'm sure there are a few more. I do absolutely think Nintendo is quite sexist, but their games aren't ENTIRELY devoid of female characters -- they're just a lot less common than they should be.

It wouldn't surprise me if Sakurai were close friends with Hosoda too.

Please remind me, Hosoda's made what?

Def. She'd make an awesome addition to the cast. TP spoilers:
full-formed, however. They'd probably make it a transformation ala Zelda-> Sheik though, and I'd be cool with that.
I also wouldn't be surprised to see SS Zelda in as a separate from OoT Zelda, much like they did WW Link to TP Link in Brawl.
