i'm sure the DLC something that they both approve of.

they don't mind making the extra coin, but the support for the game is in Relic's hands and they haven't bothered to fix widespead bugs that have been a problem for months.

there's a 10 page thread on their forum talking about the slow motion bug, and they still do nothing about it.

shabby support on their part.

Given the financial state of THQ, and thus Relic and its recent layoffs, I wouldn't hold lack of support against them. There simply isn't any money.

I liked one of the Serious Sam games when I tried it -- great performance, crazy action, looks good, play with friends -- and you can also jump in TF2. You can also jump in Mirror's Edge, and I think it would have been a much worse game if you couldn't jump.

It drove me NUTS not being able to jump when I tried the Arkham Asylum demo. I assume there's some hotkey to climb over obstacles or glide though.

I'm not talking about bunny hopping. I'm talking about exploration or just like, how you traverse the world.
It took some getting used to the sliding instead of jumping, but the game is designed around the player not being able to jump, I see no problem there. It's not like they removed the jump from a game that needs it...

I've been trying to buy Might and Magic Clash of Heroes for the last hour 1 and 1/2.

I have a 66% off coupon in my inventory but it doesn't get added at checkout. Have tried it in the web store and through the Steam client. I opened a ticket like an hour ago and no response yet. Anyone else have problems with coupons before?

EDIT :::::

I also have two 50% coupons for Assassin's Creed Revelations. I don't want the game, but I tried adding ti to my cart as well to see if the coupon applied. Same result...no discount.

It's odd to see some people praising Serious Sam 3, which is at best an awkward compromise between older and modern shooter design and mechanics, while poopoo-ing Bulletstorm, which is an amazing marriage of the two different era's. The lack of jumping in Bulletstorm is a non-issue, the game wasn't designed around the mechanic, complaining about it's omission is pointless and nonsensical. Bulletstorm was designed around running, sliding, kicking and using your whip. It's an incredibly fast paced and kinetic experience. The characters, story and dialogue are all tongue-in-cheek absurd and over-the-top.

Bulletstorm only truly begins when you gain access to the skillshot and upgrade systems. It brings to the table a combo/scoring/upgrade system that's more akin to a Japanese action game like Devil May Cry or Ninja Gaiden. Bulletstorm rewards skill and creativity. It provides you with a weird and wonderful arsenal to accomplish all of this.

There's a reason there's an achievement for ignoring the modern game design mechanics. ;) I'd rather Croteam didn't bother including them at all, though.

The coupon has probably expired. It was valid till April 1st I believe.

Oh god, how does Block works in RoA? Harder to roll?

I played it today and it rolls just like you'd expect a block to roll downhill. It's incredibly clunky, difficult to control, and slow as hell. Although you can actually still win on some of the courses because it does a ton more damage than the spheres. It's hilarious though, great idea for April Fools.

there's a strange slow motion bug in Space Marine that the devs seem to refuse to fix.

you'll be running along normally and then all of a sudden your character will start running in slow motion/bullet time ...but the frames per second remain a constant 60fps.

really weird, and many people report having experienced it.

the devs would rather release DLC instead of fixing bugs that have been around for months. its a bit of a piss off.

Yep. DON'T BUY SPACE MARINE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. If you're one of the unlucky ones to suffer from this bug (like me), the game will be basically unplayable and your money will be wasted. I got through the single player (restarting the game every 5-10 mins to get rid of the bug) but obviously I couldn't play any multiplayer at all, something I was really looking forward to. Devs like this don't deserve to be supported.

But you said that the combat specifically was bad because of no jumping.

I'd rather say THQ or publishers like this shouldn't be supported, rather than the devs. Saying Relic doesn't deserve support is kind of counter-intuitive as a gamer. Relic is a pretty amazing developer, imo.

Well.. Relic is a THQ owned studio.. so yeah.. I'd say blame Relic, it's not like they're an independent studio being screwed over in their publishing contract to not be allowed to release patches beyond the scheduled 1.1 and/or 1.2 token updates that are scheduled into the original development plan ;)

non independent studio's can still get the squeeze and get contract limits on game time frames, they probably want to fix it but don't have the time to do it due other projects as well as not getting paid to do it so it's a waste of resources if there doing another project.

I shall try this.

It's not that easy. If a bug needs a huge time investment and only a small percentage of people are experiencing it, then you have to weigh it.

You haven't read the Fargo interview have you? This should be mandatory on GAF.

- THQ owns Relic
- THQ decides what Relic's development resources should work on
- THQ does not have any money whatsoever
- THQ decides to only allocate money to the bare minimum of areas which produce more money
- Post-release support gets under-prioritized
- Relic has no say in this matter.
- Conclusion: Relic is not the entity which should be criticized.

Seriously THQ is so deeply fucked financially and Relic has been losing a lot of staff recently, so I wouldn't expect anything at all regarding Space Marine or other recent Relic titles. I'm even surprised the servers are still running :/

Edit - too much negativity ;)

One good thing I did today was find LotR: War in the North retail for $5 aud.. it's now on my Steam list - yay! Focus on the positives. One thing each day right!

Sleeping Dogs is in the Steam registry, should be my GTA fix for this year hopefully.

I have a feeling this is going to be a sleeper hit. Awesome name as well, but the change won't have done it any favours. From what I read it has the the driving of Just Cause, the combat of Arkham City, the shooting mechanics of Max Payne and an awesome setting.
