Besides, in the magazine also say this:

EATS MEETS WEST

The combat controls feel weird at first, but work well once you get the hang of them. Things get interesting when your team's skills are combined: burn the wings off a harpy and warriors can finish the job on the ground. Get an enemy wet and they'll freeze when hit with ice magic. This takes the rules and depth of JRPG combat and makes it work in third-person combat. Deep, clever and incredibly fun.

BLABBER JABBER

Your party has a tendency to talk all the time, which is why it's vital to turn the subtitles off as soon as you start the game. To begin with the babbling is constant and pointless, but as you progress it starts to get useful. Pawns with experience fighting certain enemies will offer invaluable insight in a fight. Trolls always attack women first, for example. Misogynist trolls. Imagine that.

Thanks for sharing. I like the wet-then-freeze part. Reminds me of Magicka.

Yeah, you can find buckets or jars of water laying around, pick them up and throw them at enemies and ice spells do more damage. Also, the same goes for oil and fire.

I want to get this for PS3 but I want to be able to buy DLC without a credit card. Does PS3 let you use paypal or buy credits from a store yet?

You can get Playstation cards from wallgreens, rite aid, and of course the big game places like Target, GameStop. I always pick then up at the drugstores since they are nearby. Amazon use to sell a download code but was stopped for some strange reason.

Dragon's Dogma |OT|: The Path Is Safe... Oh That's a Giant

Man, I really have to buy the OST for this. First it's a game that comes out of nowhere for me and now it's a soundtrack I can't say no to? It's sad to think without this thread I would have never known about them.

Not sure about that...I don't remember stuff in the other Capcom streams being Letterboxed...sounds ridiculous...the sub HD I can understand,it won't be the first current gen game that is not true 720/1080p but Letterboxed? nah,bad rumour me thinks ;P ;)

Well if you could understand sub HD then letterboxing makes sense, it's pretty much sub HD but they didn't want to stretch the image, I think it would be annoying depend on how the camera is, it might feel too narrow, especially when camera is a problem with action games, every screen estates helps.

I hope it's neither sub HD stretched or letterboxed, I don't know which one I prefer...

I've never seen a game with so many fence sitters.

I bet we're all going to be like"Oh what the hell, what could I lose?" and buy the game at release, and that's great, becasue I'm sure we won't be very spoiled at all.

woops missed this, thanks, this guy keeps trying hype the game, I kind of hate him, everything sounds so great that I have a feeling it's one of those things that exceeds his expectations but not mine

If you want to get into the nitty-gritty bits, you've got upgrades, equipment crafting and item combinations. Job classes can be levelled up and switched between at will, and all the quests we've tried so far have been epic undertakings. Ten hours in and we've barely even touched it.

I think framerate is going to be a problem, I've seen slowdowns with some of the videos and he kind of confirms it

As with anything of this size and scope, there are imperfections. The frame rate isn't always great, and characters sometimes pop in from nowhere as the demo build struggles to keep loading. Even with these issues, Dragon's Dogma is astounding - a fascinating take on the genre that could be more exciting than Skyrim. Where the hell did this even come from?

I have a feeling people might miss all those details and depth with the combat system and overlook them

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
All Of Capcom's eggs in an awesome action RPG basket

Getting kinda excited for this game now, even though it feels a ways off. Definitely feeling like a highlight of the first half of the year anyway with other such woeful action adventure offerings.

Dragon's Dogma |OT| of Thick Calved Women

Dragon's Dogma |OT| of Hot Pawn

all lame suggestions.

Dragon's Dogma is going to be my first current gen game purchase (borrowing my brothers 360). Unless it comes out on PC, I'm going to be selling some shizz to try to get it day/month one. I'm so used to Steam and Amazon sales... 60 is ridiculous for a game

Oh well, I shall not sit on thy comfy fence!

Seems like this dude has been playing it:

@ultrabrilliant
Dragon's Dogma does that Dark Souls thing where you think something's impossible, then you come back later and totally boss it.

@ultrabrilliant
There's no hand-holding at all, and you have no idea whether enemies/quests are too tough for you.

@ultrabrilliant
You have to feel around in the dark, learn the rhythm, adapt. Really satisfying.
