Ah shit, I forgot how much of an emotional shotgun FMA is. Sorry you two. D:

I'm glad there are fans in here though

No, no worries. I've had my cry for the week. It was good. And the memories were good too.

...

So, uhh.. how 'bout them NPD numbers? Looks like the Vita's DOA, eh?

Anyone heard of any new 2.04 sdk as it seems to have settled at 2.03

Well, from my last week post and the following searches of wsippel, we can narrow the release of the SDK 2.03 at the beginning of april, maybe very late march for some middleware (as others and big third-parties were still on the 2.02 at the end of march).

They were on the 2.02 version for a few months, maybe it will be the case for the 2.03.

Music in original was better, story obviously got a little messed up. I'd say Brotherhood was better by a smidgen.

Anyways, sorry again Tom and also for getting us off topic!

Sony will be as laughable as always this year.

I hope not as I want them having final kits out before then.... shouldn't they be in production soon to have launch numbers for November?

45 was an assumption. It's just that even if there will be layers of increase until their projects releases, it won't be to a point of doubling the framerate from what i know at the moment.

Don't forget the context, and the more important point, this fluidity was witnessed while another view of the main screen was rendered on the padlet, a pretty demanding thing resource-wise. Use the DRC for a 2D inventory/map/virtual buttons, and studios will be able to tap into a non-negligible additional pool of capabilities, with positive results on the main screen (+fps, +IQ, we can even imagine +more intricate scenes with a dynamic engine).

For these titles, you'll basically have a 1x Xbox360 on your TV + a 0,3/0,4/0,5/0,6x Xbox 360 on your hands (480p "current gen" content in terms of complexity + the fact that calculating a different angle of what is displayed on the TV is though as some techies explained in thread 3) + 0,3/0,4/0,5/0,6x Xbox 360 thanks to final graphical polish, additions of effects in the end of development, better image quality, better framerate, thanks to new dev kits, sdk, further hardware and software optimizations, better handling of the asymmetrical hardware setup, improvement on the method to "dual render", etc.

And all this for third-parties ports or titles using inhouse engines already seen before, so expect more from first-parties.

It will be a noticeable leap in the hands of competent & serious & at least a tad ambitious and not-lazy developers.

In other words, we lack the info to build a complete picture.

We need to go deeper.

At least Sony gave PR. :/

The only year I remember them being really bad was 06.

Though "Jeremy" was pretty silly.

Well, this picture is pretty complete and accurate for big third-parties at least serious and motivated for their Wii U ports, "extended" ports, and exclusive titles using already-used-before engines.

Now, i haven't witnessed first-parties masterpieces, i can just try to make informed speculation about it :)

But we'll be impressed. Not 10x-xbox360-impressed, but not just Nintendo-on-a-1x-Xbox360-hey-look-they-were-already-great-on-wii-imagine-what-they-can-do-on-their-xbox3601.2-repackaged-impressed either. The Wii U will bring some things new to the table, hardware & graphical features wise.

No matter how much you preach some people don want to know... like religious people and God or Hipsters and Apple.

Just thinking about what retro has in store for us, gets me all shaky...

Although i wish it wasn't an FPS... and if it has to be an FPS i hope they find a way around it so it's not just shooting around, and a military story slapped in (like most shooters nowaday).

In that regard, i think the only shooter I liked in these late years has been bioshock... hmm.

This is precisely how I feel about a Retro FPS.
If it's a military shooter, my three-word stance is: "what a waste."

Gimme adventure!

I'd like a FPS done differently.
maybe some puzzle elements thrown in and some upgrades and some flying monsters.

They could call it Metroid Prime 4... :)

Well, didn't somebody at Retro say a few months back that the thing they were working on was something that the fans were specifically clamoring for from them?

It's fuckin' DONKEY KONG COUNTRY

Why would you need to hire a 3D environment artist from a company that pretty much exclusively makes first person shooters for a side scrolling platformer?

This plausible FPS must have a cool identity, ooze of personality. With their art guys (+ all their recent recruitments), they can do it. Don't want a generic western sci-fi/anticipated present/current days shooter.

I'd go for a really inventive alternate history first person shooter. That way you can have some crazy background on the Roman Socialist Nation and why they're staging a secret invasion of the Iroquois Empire. Also the weapons are screaming skulls that explode on impact, why not…

The above is a terrible idea, but I hope you get the point of creativity over samsame

God is sad because He wants to know more about the Wii U but Yamauchi somehow has managed to block omniscience.
God saw Retro's game and died a little... he then saw Mario Galaxy 3 and died and went to heaven.

But as he invented heaven as a means for others to get to him, he hadn't planned him needing entry and became stuck in an infinite loop call... this crashed the entire human race for a few moments just as Nintendo sent out the OK to post WiiU news. But as we all crashed, everyone missed the news and we have nothing.

The moral of this story? Its God's fault we have no WiiU news.

Bolded=Awesome, unique game. Won't sell.

Underlined=Same shit everyone else is doing. Sells more.

Can't have both.

Every time someone says something like this, it makes me wonder where the heck all the hype around Retro came from. They release two great games (at least one of which had heavy handholding and revamping by Nintendo of Japan), help with a couple decent games, and work on a bunch of games of such low quality that they get canceled, and that suddenly makes them worth all this hype?

Especially wishing it wasn't a FPS, as a first-person shooting adventure was what made Retro famous in the first place.

Holy crap! Today's real megaton is that more than two people can have the same first name.

Same here.

Mario Kart 7 - which they helped with - had some terrible glitches.

I have high hopes for RETRO's next project. Everything so far points towards it being a FPS, but i just know they are not going to make "just another FPS". It'll be different. It 'll have richer gameplay than your average FPS. An interesting hook on the genre. I'm very excited for it.

Eh, been avoiding this thread (its not you, its the thread!), miss anything?

More discussion on the new Retro hire. IdeaMan tried to state his basic rundown of how the Wii U will look, performance-wise. People are confused as ever, and he's now asleep. General chatter on how the 3DS is doing in Europe and the Vita in America.

There's some amazing video footage just posted there.

Watch - they're going to make a console version of Professor Layton. And we're all going to eat it up!

Go C-stick!

Anybody who likes the Z button should just walk away and never come back to the Internet
I like

Everything about the GC controller, and I mean everything. So should I leave?

They aren't gods by any stretch of the imagination. But so far they have put out good games, and they're at an environment where they can do good things (with nintendo's help).

Plus I would like to believe they have enough experience by now for nintendo to let go a little bit and let them be more independant. Some hand holding is to be expected though.

Other than that, it's one of few big studios from nintendo that can output something "different". I guess what i mean by different is western... not too japanese.

I wonder what an RPG from them would be like. Their artists would shine there imo .

Vice versa for me. The wavebird is still to be beaten to this day
