Like I said in the other thread, I want the Journey lead character to be in it, but you control two, kinda like the Ice Climbers.

Well, for one, it's probably not the best idea to post a screenshot taken from blown up and a horribly encoded and compressed video of in-game footage and then compare it to a shrunken down bullshot of another game to try and prove your point.

Oh, so a direct feed picture will magically add polygons and detail to the character. Gotcha.

Nah, this will pass. The similarities are so striking that its going to ignite a lot of "Wow...." responses. Theres no way you could watch that video and not see it coming a mile away. Its shockingly similar. Its taken full on weeks of iPhone/Mobile thread dustups to get a garbage thread for that. Its been about an hour for this game.

Folks will say their piece and this will pass.
Naw it wont pass at all.

I'm just salty about how much of a shameless clone it looks like. It just looks gross. I'd be way more in to this had it been it's own unique game.

I don't know, really. A crossover game can literally be anything, but they just happened to make it look almost the same as the 10 million selling Nintendo version.

Well, I meant as a crossover fighting game. I guess I just see it like this: they could have gone the SSB route or the Power Stone route. If they had gone the Power Stone route, I could foresee many people saying how much of a Power Stone ripoff it is. Alternatively, they could go with the SSB route, which of course elicited all of the responses (not saying it's not extremely similar to SSB; nobody is saying that). In this circumstance, wouldn't it make more sense to go with SSB-style, considering how much more popular and better selling it is than Power Stone? There are many fans (including myself) of the Playstation line of characters, as much as many people in here seem to deny is humanely possible. While I very much enjoy SSB, I have always wanted to have a Sony-made version of it with Sony's character line.

That's why seeing this game makes me happy that it's similar, not upset that it's a ripoff. Too many people seem to literally be upset at the game's similarity to SSB, which is just strange to me. It's a gameplay style that works for this type of crossover, and it isn't done often.

Will surely be:

ratchet/clank
jak/dexter
drake
cole
nissan skyline

Could also be:

Lara
Kuro/Turo cat thingies
FF character(s)
Sora
old monk

I'd heard that this was extremely close to Smash Brothers and every time someone wanted to deviate a little from the formula they were pushed back towards a simple clone.

Guess I heard right.

Edit: As far as "what did you want?"...Nintendo basically invented a new type of fighting game with Smash. I don't think it's too much to ask to put at least a modicum of thought into the design. What if Nintendo had decided to copy the best selling fighting games instead of trying something new? Tekken with Mario? Mortal Mario?

Before Smash came out if you asked people what they wanted out of a crossover fighting game probably zero people would have said a game where you knock people off of stages and damaging them makes them fly farther. But that's what Nintendo came up with and it worked - you know, actual game design.

I actually doubt it will pass, people are going to be constantly looking for similarities to SSB with each new character and stage.

After finally seeing gameplay (thanks for the yt link) I have to say it's nothing like I imagined it would be, and I can see why so many are calling it a rip-off. Sony playing it a bit too safe, I was honestly expecting more of a fighting game but I am loving the stages, the Hades/Patapon one being my favourite. I really enjoyed Smash Bros melee so this could be fun too, and I don't get that it lacks charm, looks plenty charming to me.

I'm just loving the salt pouring in right now in this thread. Its a fun magical moment that I cherish in this board.

Yes, I know I'm part of the salty crew as well.

I played all the Killzone games and I had no clue who "Radec" was until I saw him lol

They should have just used a generic helghast solider, then they could easily give them different costumes.

But instead they are stuck with Radec..........
They could've used Rico.

And saying that Killzone is an FPS series is a TAD misleading, as the PSP game worked damn well.

Its probably more charming when you play it. Keighley said his team had a ton of fun playing it.

Yeah, in this case, charm is all relative. People find smash endearing because they love those characters. People who don't care for them though don't see anything special. The same applies here.

Nope, I mean Rico & Sev got way more screen time than either of those two so why not them? I mean they were pretty much stereotypical soldiers but /shrug at least I remember them.
I mean, I get that, but I think a fundamental aspect of gameplay in titles like these is personality. What would Rico's special be? Or Sev? We know Radec, because he was this grandiose, over-the-top final boss. Plus, he was the most aesthetically badass. Wasn't he also the voice during multiplayer? That's part of it.

I don't know what to think of this. On the one hand, it's exactly what we thought it would be.

On the other hand...

It really is JUST like smash bros, only now with 20 less proper characters.

Haha, butt hurt nintendo dudes. you guys are funny. I'm actually sad that this uses life bars instead of percentages. i wanted a smash ripoff damnit, not an almost off.

The game features a number of cool game modes for both single and multiplayer, with a focus on online play which features a robust tournament mode. Players will be able to compete against each other as well as play cooperatively. We can’t wait for you all to try it for yourself.

Until then, please stay tuned; there are plenty more features, characters, and levels we want to show. And you definitely don’t want to miss what we’ve got in store for E3!

Why does it only have to be the SSB route or the Power Stone route? Why not Capcom VS SNK? Or Clayfighter? Or Virtua Fighter? There are a number of different fighting games.

And of course, this didn't even have to be a fighting game. It could've been a crossover of another sort. But that would've taken a creative and talented dev team and a willing publisher.

I'm not denying that there are fans of Sony characters. And if you wanted a Xerox of SSB with Sony characters, then that's cool. But why do you have to pretend as if the only way to do a crossover is either SSB or Power Stone (which isn't even a crossover itself)?

I'm not going too deep into this whole debate but you think there are really no other options than going either Power Stone or Smash Bros. route? I'd like to think that there are forms of fighting games that don't exist yet. Would be pretty boring if we've seen it all already and this is what we're going to play for the next 100 years.
