NFL Off-Season |OT2| My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy Draft

Suicide is the selfish act of a coward.

You cant say this for everyone. It is impossible to know what demons or pain a person is dealing with. Especially in the case of people who have damage to their brians, like a lot of former players suffer. The idea of someone killing themselves seems terrible to me, but you cant say all of those people are cowards without know their exact situation.

This isn't the thread for that discussion.

While I see your point ez, the way liabilty is being stretched by lawyers nowadays, it's not hard to see why the NFL probably needs to offer such counselling along with the current Neurological follow ups once a players career is over.

I don't think so. I was thinking Reggie White possibly?

They can do whatever the hell they want. I don't see any possible reason why they would wait at this point.

I don't see any reason they would accelerate it. Guy is dead, not dying. I could see it for a terminal HoF lock.

I think the NFLPA should foot that bill. Their leadership is advocating extra pay for inflicting serious injuries and defending players who pay each other for "going after the head."

Reap the whirlwind.

It's just a nice thing to do.

I always thought the delay was primarily for voters and for the players themselves to look back and reflect on their careers, contrast to where they are today. In this case you can pay tribute to him and his family when it matters the most.

Right, it's more to separate the voters from being prisoners of the moment, so they can take a step back and view them in comparison within their eras and history.

Considering football players are dropping like old middle-aged wrestlers, then they might as well eliminate the eligibility wait for players after they die. What's the point?

I've had two very close family members commit suicide. Suicide solves no problems, but creates a whole lot of pain and suffering for others. You guys can all eat a dick.

I don't know about your family situation, but calling anyone who decides to end their life cowards is kind of fucked up.

So, the practice is specifically in place to guard against sentimental inductions. I don't think they should make an exception here, personally, but the NFL Hall of Fame is a joke so who really cares?

The NFL Hall of Fame isn't the joke that is Baseball.

Joe Namath notwithstanding.

They shouldn't make an exception, and I don't think they will.

Well golly I hope Junior doesn't catch wind of this.

Suicide is taking all your pain, and distributing it to your friends and family.

I agree with you slo, but probably not the place. And it always ends in bans for the person taking our stance

Shot himself in the chest. I'm guessing there is a 95% chance of note saying "study my brains" or Junior just really wanted to suffer.

Really bummed about Junior. Terrible news.

Eh, the Hall of Fame is generally good. There are very few "WTF? Him!?" inductees. Without that seven-year gap, it would definitely be in worse shape than it is now.

Honestly, the suicide/coward conversation isn't going to lead anywhere pleasant guys. Agree to disagree and let that one go.

RIP Junior. Tragic news if it proves true. Feel the worst for his three kids.:(

Damn Junior, hell of a player to watch. 3 kids? :(

How is that different than any other unexpected or early death?

You're choosing to do it. Think of how much more trauma his kids are going to go through, this may sound crazy but a lot more than if he happened to die in a car accident.

Future's right though.
