Worst E3 moments?

Those mugs standing on stage and using their Wii remotes as musical instruments for the Wii Music presentation. Like the top Youtube comment says - "i'm sitting alone in my room and yet i'm embarrassed."

So, so, so very horrible.

Jaime Kennedy: enough said,

Kudo's "Project Natal" reveal(Wanna see the back of my shoe: BAM!)
Cammie "I'm a cool mom" Dunaway trying to look cool and snowboarding on Wii Board with Shawn White.
Nintendo's e3 press conference with Pac Man versus.
Wii music
Konami and Rock Revolution(Cover band can play the real song, just not in the game)
Ubisoft and the Laser tag.
Mr Cafeine... Good god.

That's off the top of my head.

Cammie Dunaway.

:O

Cammie was awesome! Yes she was a soccer mom who had no idea what she was doing, and she was insanely cringy, but she was so hilarious at the same time because she was so bad at it...

I miss her :(

Ah well, at least the #Regginator is still with us.

All on-stage demos of designated "casual" games and services have generally been atrocious. They're always hyping up an unexciting product, with bad "fun" acting and cheesy presentations.

From the girl with the tiger tickling, to Ubisoft shilling laser tag, to Harmonix' most pasty white nerd dancing up a storm, to Shaun White standing on a plastic rectangle, to the horror that was Wii Music, it's painful.

Sony have committed the least offence in this category, but even then a lot of their Move stuff was lame retreads of stuff we already saw (and hated there too) on the Wii.

Pretty much that one Nintendo conference and the last 2 or 3 MS conferences. They're so awful they all kind of blend together and I forget how many there have been now.

The Nintendogs reveal in E3 2005. There was some girl who talked to her DS like it was a real puppy.

Embarrassing as hell.

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.
Jamie Kennedy. Made even worse when I learned he gets mad when people bring it up on Twitter.

Sony 2006, Nintendo 2008, any Microsoft conference involving Kinect (even back when it was Natal).
Ubisoft 2009 (JAMES CAMERON DOESN'T SHUT UP!) and 2010 (Laser Tag!) At least they gave us games in 2011... but instead of Joel McHale we got Mr. Caffeine (ugh).
Disney conference and High School Musical. "Let's get two random people from the audience" *people already know the choreography*

I'm surprised nobody mentioned "Sega Saturn is already in stores".

Kevin Butler's terrible stand-up act at the sony conference a couple of years ago.
It was more poorly timed than anything else, making him get everyone hyped for some big announcement which then didn't come.

Nintendo's 2009 conference wasn't great, but I didn't mind seeing more NSMB Wii and Wii Sports Resort, since both games looked really fun. Also, Mario Galaxy 2 was announced, which alone makes the conference acceptable. Too bad the Vitality Sensor never came to be.

But yeah, 2008 for Nintendo was abysmal. Also, the Skyward Sword demo in 2011 was really bad and awkward (definitely a "worst moment"), but the conference overall was good. 2010 was the best in years though because it's focus on lots of games, and I hope it gets topped this year.

Probably the Wii U reveal. The name... good grief. What was that quote from Reggie? Something about bringing together the Wii and you, some shit like that. That was more embarrassing than the worst Kinect demo.

2009 wasn't great, but it was ok, for Nintendo, it was a vast improvement over the ire 2008.

2007 was weak, but not atrocious (still had some SSBB and Metroid Prime 3 goodness to help).

I would put it as

2006: Godlike
2007: Lame
2008: Hell
2009: Decent
2010: Great
2011: Good

Nintendo's 2009 show was brutal to sit through, up until the last 10-15 minutes. By default, that made it better than 2008 but the bulk of the show was just as awful.

NO!

Dont you talk about my Kevin Butler that way!

The worst moments would probably be those that are really boring, but those are also not memorable, thus I don't remember them. So in my memory everything has either been good, or bad enough to become good.

Did anyone in the industry ever question Microsoft/Lucasarts on that fabricated Star Wars Kinect shite?

With all the websites covering the expo and interviews happening, you'd hope someone would have the balls to call them out on their bullshit.

One of my favourite "worst moments" was when Macworld claimed that Apple unambiguously "won" E3.

Even though Apple weren't there.

The inaccuracies in the article (see the fabricated description of the Wii Goldeneye control scheme) strongly suggested that the writer wasn't actually at the expo even though he claimed to be. It was a low point for E3 related journalism at least.

Damn... that article... I'm laughing out loud here, it's just so wrong...

Sony 2006, Nintendo 2008, Microsoft 2010 and 2011.

I couldn't even pick out a worst moment from MS last year, but everything regarding Star Wars Kinect was just terrible.

I'm gonna have to look up Nintendo in 2009 because I don't remember it at all.

Edit: Was E3 2007 the one where they wanted it low-key? The Jamie Kennedy/Activision thing then would be a "worse moment" if it weren't for how his Twitter tantrum about it three years later with Gary Whitta. :lol

"2010 is the year of the reboot. As I type this on my MacBook Pro in my air-conditioned hotel room in Los Angeles, "

What a great start.

How about this:

"Sure, the 3DS has 3D graphics without glasses--but also without a sense of perspective. That is to say, Apple is eating their market and Nintendo's Reggie Fils-Aime is sitting in the white Buick with the devil as they go over the cliff, laughing, a la Thelma and Louise."

Seriously ridiculous...
