I dunno, I think Romney is poorly positioned for the debates. He's moved his strategy over to lying and race-baiting, two approaches that work markedly less well when your opponent is right there and can talk right after you. Romney's gonna say "welfare reform gutted," Obama's gonna say "you wrote a letter to me asking for this specific change." Romney's going to need something better in response to that than "Nuh-uh."

Here we go again, SMH

People forget Romney was a pretty good debater in the primaries and has a ton to hit Obama on. It'll be interesting to see Obama defending his record versus just running on lofty rhetoric.

Yeah thats what I was expecting. Mitt Romney's come back won't be at the conventions, it will be a the debates. That where he can score some points on the economy.

How is Romney going to respond to "corporate profits are at an all time high and the GOP voted against a bill that'd give tax breaks to companies that hire people"?

Romney is a lot of things, but good at debating? Must we remind you of him being shaky against Rick Perry of all people?

Because he hasn't already tried hitting him on the economy? I fail to see that making any significant dent where as Obama can call him out on his bs.

I don't mean to alarm you but you have dogs on your face
I have a hard time visualizing Romney doing very well, much less beating Obama in the debates. What impressive moments did Romney have in the republican debates?

So many of the things Romney has hit Obama on have been bullshit, and it'll be fun to see Romney sling the same things at him to his face.

Expect Romney to go in with lots of prepared zingers.

Also expect him to completely blow their delivery.

Hey, man, I didn't hold a gun to your head and force you to run against the Civil Rights Act for fifty years. Lie down with Richard Nixon, get up with Karl Rove.

I suppose he lost those debates against Santorum and Gingrich intentionally, to build their confidence.

(I'm pretty sure this is the exact opposite of the truth.)

You're joking. I watched every debate. Perry utterly embarrassed himself in each one he was in. He dropped the ball even when it was handed to him by Romney.

The only person who outperformed Romney was Gingrich, and yet Romney managed to handily destroy him in the debate after his SC win.

Romney is a solid debater, and perhaps just as important he is smart; that can't really be said of previous candidates like McCain, who clearly didn't know anything about domestic policy, and W Bush who didn't know much of anything (but was an effective debater at attacking weak opponents). He's not going to get outclassed in a debate, or look nonresidential. That alone will ensure the response to the debates will likely be quite even, unlike with McCain where Obama clearly outdid him three times.

Chuck Todd just said with a straight face that republicans think Ohio is slipping away, and that they are now betting on Wisconsin as their path to 270...and he agreed with the strategy...

Laughable math

Ryan with a better fitting suit. Can't wait for the all important investigative journalism into the cost of his campaign wardrobe like we got with Palin.

Bahah. That really is hysterical. Romney's win is through Ohio or Florida. Without either, he's fucked.

That guy with no private-sector experience?

A man perfectly suited for a joke told by Pawlenty earlier in the evening?

If Ohio is slipping away, the map is going to get REAL tricky for these pundits to try and keep this close

And I rest my case. Liberals just can't fathom that a minority could actually think for themselves and become a Republican.
We know they think for themselves and that is why they don't become Republicans.

A few of them don't think for themselves . . . they let their pope/priest do their thinking . . . and those ones become Republicans.

The line between serious posting and trolling becomes ever more blurrier.

Still, if it would be so easy to destroy Obama, Mittens wouldn't have to resort to race baiting and straight up lying half the time.

Where did I say Romney would destroy Obama in a debate? My argument is basic: Romney is a solid debater and will look presidential, unlike McCain who clearly looked over his head. The debates will likely be close enough so that no candidate gets 55-60% when pollsters ask who won.

So, maybe (probably) this is just me being cynical, but I found Ryan's speech almost completely vapid. I really couldn't even determine the theme to it, unlike Ann "I love women" Romney or Chris "Vote for me 2016" Christie. Will be really curious to see the reactions.
