No, it looks like a generic modern update of ED that no military company would ever design let alone put on a battlefield.
Omni Consumer Products versus Omni Corps. The whole thing starts to fall apart from that change because it's missing the whole point of the film which was satire and a consumer company getting it all wrong.
I haven't been following this remake much, but doesn't that just mean that this film is focusing less on the rise and dangers of consumerism (as was more relevant and original in the 80s) and more on the rise of a permanent military state and militarized police force, complete with private contractors?
In that context, ED makes perfect sense as an overdesigned military-industrial boondoggle (complete with critical flaws) being sold to police departments that don't actually need it.
