Wow how pathetic.

Frankly I don't understand why anyone believed what he was saying(especially the mods), what he claimed never made much sense.

Looking at that guys post history, lol, it's pretty crazy to think he was trying to pass himself off as a professional VA. Seems more like a crazed fan / otaku that met Jerry Jewell at an anime convention one too many times and has some weird fantasy of being the guy, or I guess being a voice actor in general.

Now Lion King III, that's a different story!

Good to see this whole thing resolved. The beta leak set off a pretty nasty chain of events that killed the hype for this game, a damn shame. I'm still pumped for it regardless, but I think the community needs some of Gale's final characters to be confirmed to resuscitate the hype, lol.

Hah, these kind of people are everywhere. There was also another gaffer that claimed to work for Cartoon Network on the new Thundercats cartoon, which turned out to be false too.

I posted some pictures of myself on a men's fashion forum in a "what are you wearing today" thread. Someone used my pictures and posted them in the fashion section of 4chan. When someone who was familiar with my forum called him out, he used my name and defended himself and even tried to prove that he was me by showing he posted things around the same time I did at my forum.

And I'm just a dude, not a voice actor with my name in the credits somewhere.

There are weird people out there.

it´s actually quite funny to look at "Sovietprince´s" Post history (the guy that "outed" Afro).. he has only posted about this game he has 58 posts or something like that... lol..wtf is going on with this game..? is this all some crazy marketing scheme like that new Justin Bieber music video..?

It's not just being a Nintendo/Sony/MS/Sega/Apple fan. He decided to dedicate hours of his days not just posting fake things, but actually constructing an identity, trying to be some sort of insider, just to post a false rumour about PSASBR with Paul Gale involved. HE EVEN MOCKED PAUL FOR HIS TAG HERE ON GAF, DESPITE HE BEING THE FIRST ONE LYING. :lol

I know you're joking, but one of the only reasons, besides being too much involved in games to lose contact with reality, to do this is the fact he has been paid IMHO XD

No one would believe that SuperBot would suddenly start to work on characters to add to the roster just to meet the "leaks". That was ridiculous and pretty much the telling sign that this rumor was fake. Afro Gunsou claimed he was not the primary source of that rumor so it could be his friend that was lying to him. But now that his supposed identity was disproven then he is just a liar trying to spread some FUD. Pretty sophisticated FUD though, made some posts in unrelated threads to create a believable forum "persona", used a secondary source to his claims so he couldn't be directly confronted, really crazy methodically.

And what's funny is that I wasn't even invested in this game, I had no interest in it, but all this noise surrounding it just feels weird. And this Paul Gale character also contributes to this weirdness. It's just baffling that what should be a simple feel-good game from Sony, a tribute to its brand and characters, a fan service game, has so much bullshit around it.

Haha, I KNEW it! Good on soviet prince for finding this out. I'd like to add, though, that I had been doing detective work of my own on Afro Gunsou. I had my suspicions from day one that he wasn't who he claimed to be. He just seemed...REALLY into Pokemon and Monster Hunter for a 36 year old voice actor who never alluded to being a huge gamer in any of his con panels or interviews. If you go back and look at the drunk thread Afro Gunsou made, I even straight up called him out on not being Jewell. We exchanged some PMs where I explained to him why I thought he wasn't Mr. Jewell, and he really didn't do much to make me think otherwise. Just gave me some halfhearted excuses about "just getting back into Pokemon", etc. (one of the things I called him out on in the drunk thread was that Mr. Jewell didn't know what a Mudkip was in a con panel video, yet he was supposedly a huge Pokemon fan).

Glad to see this has all been resolved, though.

Unfortunately its been like this since this game was announced the amount of hate/negativity levelled on has been staggering.

However, I feel like I need to clarify something. I posted what I did in that thread because yes, I am a bit suspicious about whether or not you are who you say you are. It's nothing personal, mind you, definitely nothing personal. Hell, if you are Jerry Jewell, I'm actually a big fan of a lot of your work. But with the nature of the internet being what it is, anybody can say they're anybody and most people will believe them without a second look. I suppose I'm just not as trusting as most, y'know?

Anyway, I sent you an e-mail through the contact form on your official website (which is very nice) specifically inquiring about NeoGAF and gaming. If I receive a reply, that'll be enough for me, and I will sincerely apologize for my suspicions. I did, yes. There wasn't really anything there that made me think you wouldn't see the message, though I wasn't necessarily expecting a reply because I know VAs are busy people and obviously can't respond to every bit of fan mail they get (I've actually talked with Kyle Hebert about this when I interviewed him for a site I used to write for).

Anyway, for real, this whole thing isn't really a huge deal for me or anything. I've just seen it happen in the past, where fans of one thing or another are suckered in by someone claiming to be someone they're not. Even here on NeoGAF, someone claimed they were part of the production team for the recent Thundercats reboot, and got everyone in the thread excited, and spread misinformation, and were later proven to be just a slightly crazy fan. So I really do hope you can understand where I'm coming from here.

As you can see, I did get a little bit suckered into thinking it might be him, but for the most part my suspicions remained intact. I know we're usually discouraged from going all DetectiveGAF, but...I don't know. Something about the possibility of someone's identity potentially being stolen just pissed me off enough to look into it.
