Sin And Punishment Developer Treasure Working On 3DS Exclusive

If you can't grasp the controls of Kid Icarus: Uprising, the problem is with you, not the controls.

I disagree. The controls in Kid Icarus are cumbersome and involve holding the 3DS in a way that necessitated bundling the game with a stand.

I find your comment a little too dismissive. I played KI right through, enjoyed the multiplayer for a few days afterwards, but nothing about that control scheme has me rushing back...

I got the controls, but having, for instance, a powerup enable jumping in the most cumbersome fashion imaginable is a joke.

I would totally be okay with a sequel to

one of my favorite treasure games.

Yeah, that´s the first title I wished for upon reading the news.

Uprising would be unplayable with two sticks.

It'd play fine and it would open up the available buttons one could access on the fly.

One thing that I would miss that I actually quite enjoys about KI was the "flick to spin" the camera functionality from the touch controls. I really thought that was ace. I don't imagine losing that would break the game but it does give one a competitive advantage in MP.

Sin & punishment 2 was so overlooked that finding much needed superplay footages is a quest in itself. I should look now if there are new videos showing an all medals run.

I tried to do those bits stealthy but never really figured it out..

It's not hard. I've even done it co-op with a friend.

This guy even does it without destroying cameras, making it harder on himself than necessary.

Now this is pretty hard

You can play the stealth stage as an action stage through and through, though, as far as I can tell

You can. Just plays out like a regular stage when you do. No idea why that part ruined the game for him

I forget if there's a score bonus for not triggering the alarm though. Been a year since I played

It would be like playing Sin and Punishment 2 with the classic controller and not the remote. Why would anyone want to go back to that?

I thought they designed the game in such a way that some segments were easier with the other control scheme.

They made Ikaruga and Radiant Silvergun. Gag.

"I was also struggling with the dilemma of 'I know that we can’t do better than Ikaruga, so why are we making a game for the same platform, and of the same genre?' I really worried about this. But finally, I resolved it by rephrasing the problem: 'the hardware’s graphical power is not going to improve no matter how much I struggle with it, and I’m never going to be a genius that can make a game like Ikaruga, so worrying about it is just a waste…'"

It's just that Japanese humbleness, I bet he didn't actually mean it.

Loves Robotech S1
i think i would like another game like alien solder.

but really i'd be interested in whatever they do as long as it's not just a sequel.

ikaruga is a b-tier shooter, but at least it has a sane chaining system that doesn't encourage the player to ignore 2/3rds of the enemies in the entire game like RS

Top Tier:
Sin & Punishment: Star Successor
Gradius V
Astro Boy: Omega Factor
Guardian Heroes
Gunstar Heroes
Dynamite Headdy
Mischief Makers

Silhouette Mirage Tier:
Silhouette Mirage

Mid Tier:
Alien Soldier
Radiant Silvergun
Ikaruga
Wario World
Gunstar Super Heroes

Low Tier:
McDonald's Treasure Land
Stretch Panic
Advance Guardian Heroes

Didn't play lol Tier:
the rest of 'em

S&P2 is the best game ever in the best series ever so I'm definitely looking forward to this. Probably the game that'll make me buy a 3DS.

Swap Mischief Makers for Alien Soldier and that's pretty much my list.

Maybe drop Guardian from top

Oh and original Sin and Punishment needs to be up there too.

Please, please make my ridiculous dream of Mischief Makers 2 for the 3DS come true. It's been pretty much my most wanted unrealistic game desire since the 3DS was announced.

Why isn't Mischief Makers in your top tier?! :(

Honestly

never played it. :x

Been waiting for virtual console port forever

and now that I think about it keep Guardian in top. I really liked the rebalance in the re-release

Treasure is king. Even their bad games are far more imaginative and interesting than 90% of the shit out there.

Alien Soldier is good, but I'm not a huge fan of the Boss Marathon side-scrollers compared to the more traditional kind. I think that's a pretty unfortunate trap that Contra: Hard Corps and Shattered Soldier fell into, that I'm glad Uprising changed. Same thing for shmups with really short levels, song-long boss fights.

Fair enough.

You just listed my favorite contra games so I guess that's just where our tastes differ.
