Picked up my basic model and still have two deluxes in route from target online.

So my GameStop decided they were not going to open at 9, like they told me two days ago, and instead they're opening at 11. No phone calls... nothing... to say the time changed (they knew since yesterday). Said fuck it, walked over to Target, and picked up their last deluxe system there.

Checking with a couple of friends to see if they need one but if not, just going to go back to GameStop and cancel. They won't care because they'll sell it anyways but man... they always find some way to rustle my jimmies.

Picked my system up at 10:30. Installed it and turned it on at 11am and the update was done and installed by about 11:50. My daughter and I have been playing NSMBU for the last hour or so. Great so far!

Hype rising. Woke up early and went to a Fred Meyer to check out what they still had. Didn't preorder Mario Bros. and decided I wanted it, so popped in (especially since I still remember watching almost every game I wanted for the Wii launch selling out within minutes). They had goddamned near 50 copies of the game still and a stack of Basic sets; someone was buying the last Deluxe when I was leaving.

Liking this kinda-relaxed launch, because I was fearing it would be a shitshow of lines at Gamestop; maybe not now.

How do you check out the storage left on your SD card with the console. I have the option to check my hard drive but not the SD card. Probably just completely missed it. I think the idea of using the gamepad as a remote is awesome but I can't get it to work with my HD-DVR from DirecTV. Works great as a remote for my big screen though.

I'd love to give you impressions but this update hasn't finished and now my GF is heading over. Doubt I'm going to have much to play anything today.

This just worked for me too!

FOR MAC USERS: Go to "System Preferences". The "Gateway" is "Router". My Nintendo Customer Service Rep told me "Gateway" was my "IPv4" number. That's what went wrong.

I can't really comment on everything so far because I'm still updating but using the controller as a TV remote is simply amazing. I can't believe how easily it works.

Doesn't work with Mario, cause you need to tilt the controller in some parts of the game,

but I thought it worked with Sonic Racing, at least I thought the developer said in the Sonic Racing thread that it supports almost every-type of controller option

Seems to be what I've noticed as well. You may be able to find a basic model here and there but the deluxe is unavailable.

The interesting thing about this is Nintendo mostly shipped Deluxe models. Hardly anyone wants the Basic.

At least the gamepad carries audio out if you plug in headphones. Still silly that the AV port seems to be totally disabled when you're using HDMI, though, unless I'm missing something.

Can we get this added to the OP? It seriously fixed all my problems, meaning the Wii U can't figure out what the fuck it's doing with auto obtain settings.

1. Go into connection types, Hit "Manual Configuration"
2. Input your SSID
3. Input the correct security type, this is key.
4. Put your password in properly
5. For ip address "Do not auto obtain".
6. open up cmd in your computer, type in ipconfig
7. Now input that ip address but add 10 to the last number so "192.168.0.1" will be entered as "192.168.0.11"
8. Enter the rest of your info inside such as subnet mask and default gateway exactly as you see it in your ipconfig.
9. Now hit next, hit configure now for your DNS. When asked about DNS hit "Dont auto obtain".
10. For the first server put in 8.8.8.8
11. For the second server put in 8.8.4.4
12. Hit Next, when asked about a proxy hit no proxy / "Don't Use"
13. Leave mtu as the default (1500)
14. it should work, if not check the ip and that it is the internet ip + 10.

So just now, on a whim, walked into the micro center in Cincinnati. They still had 3 deluxe systems in.

So without really planning on getting one, I know have a new deluxe Wii U, new Mario, and Zombie U.

Welp thanks to this post I know have a Wii U basic and a copy of sonic and sega all stars racing. Microcenter had 3 systems left when I got there. Don't know whether to thank you or hate you. I figure I can gamefly Nintendoland and buy a good external drive for less than $50 somewhere online black friday.

Yes and I didn't get a 3DS until that price drop. But that thing was being sold for a pretty big profit at launch. This is being sold at a loss. And nintendo hates selling hardware at a loss. Also I remember 3DSs being way way easier to find at launch making me think this is less likely to flop so hard it needs drastic messures.

Picked up my deluxe preorder from best buy with NSMBU and ZombiU and pro controller (used 3x reward points coupon on the whole transaction wheeee)In and out no hassle. This Best Buy had sold out of deluxe but there was a huge number of basic sitting there waiting.

Then ran to TRU and nabbed Darksiders and Blops. So I can shoot people whole on the toilet.

My biggest complaints so far: UI is super slow and I REALLY wish Nintendo had made the Gamepad multi-touch.

They're not usually good at it at all. I love them but they're shit at making snappy UIs. Even their best games are full of "Press A" to acknowledge / continue moments, and horribly styled buttons and text. The 3ds transitions from home menu to any piece of useful software like the eshop, swapnote, friends list or internet browser way too slowly..

if Wii U is transitioning slowly I really hope its something they can fix with updates
