FPS or TPS? Please be TPS. Please be TPS.
Why? Third Person Shooters are better for jumping, and that's about it.

Edit : I admit that I'm biased. I've always found TPS to be clumsy and counter intuitive, while FPS feels fluid and seamless.

When I first heard murmurs of the MMO angle I wasn't happy, but with the landscape of MMOs in the market now they'd be sending it to die if it's subscription based. While I still hope it's not a full on MMO, I'm more open to the idea now.

Just got up from a nap, came as fast as I could. Everything I'm reading/seeing looks great. Can't wait to get a proper reveal though.

Kinda sucks for Bungie but at least they're making headlines. No such thing as bad press right?

edit: Duncan how giddy are you? lol

Absolutely love it, but I just hope there is no monthly fee.

I looooooooove bungie and there games but if they want to kill it their will not be a monthly fee... $40 for live is too much as is...

This is honestly so exciting. Massive Bungie fan, so it's great to see some more light shed on their next project. Hopefully we get to see something at the VGA's, or early next year.

With the way sub-based gaming is going, I like to think that they would not be so foolish anyway. It is just a concern, but the game looks fantastic based on what we have here.

Any game with a required subscription fee being released into the current market is being sent to its death, Bungie obviously knows this.

Is that Chimera there with all those eyes? :p

Love the concept art and the overall concept of the game. I really really hope they take the 'exploration' part of it serious. No more of this zone after zone bullshit.

There is nothing indicating that kind of consumer intent on the consoles, probably because no one tried it. One huge IP could pull it off. Maybe.

Look at any EA game that required the pass for online multiplayer. No one wanted that crap aside from EA. And that was free if you bought the game new.

I thought that stuff worked great for publishers? Push consumers to buy games new and kill off the used game market?

Wonder what the budget is. Can't fucking wait. Anything that deals with aliens, huge ships, exploration, Bungie, huge ambitions to be as big as Star Wars.. Well sign me the hell up. 2013 will definitely be a memorable one.

Lol i got burned once with concept art of Codename Kingdoms.
And that turned out to be marketed as a kinect only roman street brawler :;p

well we don't know what Ryse is now. Phil Spencer said Kinect is now "part" of the game so it's probably playable with a controller now.

Nextbox and PS4, or Xbox 360 and PS3?

Strange that they would release the game on two dying platforms.

Dying platforms? MS just sold 750,000 360's last Friday. On a single day!

The install base of this generation is truly massive as video games continue to expand as an industry and we are 7 years deep in the generation, unless they wanted to wait until at least late 2014, but probably 2015, not releasing this on the 360 and PS3 is simply flushing money down the toilet.

That said, I hope the contract stuff lines up for a dual release at a launch window game for the Next Box next fall. That and a possible Next Box version of BF4 would make me buy that new console at launch no questions asked.

I'll be F5'ing your page. I added a little addition to my thread, but I've yet to update my OP on the matter. I'm afraid I won't have a lot to add to your update. :(

Funny thing is, I've had an update (mostly) typed up and ready to go for weeks. Finally had enough tidbits to warrant a decent news roundup... and this happens. I was hoping to finish my writeup on Halo 4's Global Ordnance, but this new Destiny stuff comes first. (Right after I edit/publish the latest HaloGAF Radio we recorded last week, wherein I speculated that Destiny WON'T be at the VGAs.)

After Geoff knightley's tweet, I think it might be at the VGAs, but I really don't want it to. This is why.

That wording in the contract about yearly releases ("Comets") and DLC on top of yearly releases is frightening.

Can you imagine paying $50~ for Live, $10-15 a month for DLC + $60 each year + micro-transactions + "value-added" garbage?

Clearly we don't have concrete details about anything yet, but that would set a new record for milking a franchise dry, and the most macabre part of it all is that it will have been built from the ground up as some ungodly cash-generating machine with the pretense of being a game.

It would be baffling if it came to that as it would be an amalgamation of everything Bungie hated about their relationship with Microsoft.

I actually knew people that were. They'd raid 3 nights a week but they'd raid only for 3 hours a time. That was it. The rest of the week they'd just casually play. It's not that uncommon. More so when your kids are young and go to bed by 8 or 9 at night.

Well I guess good parenting is subjective.
