What's the worst game you played all year?

Mega Man. Yeah, the first one.

I never got the love for Mega Man. I suppose it's super challenging, maybe that's it.

Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.
Borderlands 2 for me. Hated almost every single thing about the game, but especially the story, characters, and awful attempts at humor.

Syndicate. Great potential, but terrible pacing(SP wise) and so boring. MP was actually decent, though I could only find 1 game up at the time I got it.

Halo 4, easily. To be fair, I've only played 4 or 5 games this year and all of them have been great, except this one. The campaign is so ridiculously boring; it lacks set-pieces and memorable moments. I thought the entire plot was completely contrived and unnecessary. Most of the level design consisted of me killing 5-6 enemies, pressing a button, and repeating. I don't know how many terminals I activated.

The multiplayer is still there, the gameplay feels like Halo, and it is absolutely beautiful, but the drawl campaign balanced all of that out for me. It's a solid game but juxtaposing it to the other games I've played makes it worst.

Probably a tie between Darksiders 2 and Dragon's Dogma. I'm not very far into Dragon's Dogma though, but I'm really not feeling the pawn system.

I try not to play bad games obviously, but my least favorites were:

• Deadlight
• Chasing Aurora
• Spec Ops: The Line
• Assassin's Creed III
• and... Dishonored :X

Rhythm Thief for 3DS. It wasn't awful, but I regret not getting Theatrhythm. I'm personally alright with that being the worst; it means I had a pretty good year.

This thread is almost a carbon copy of that other thread we had with "Most Disappointing" game, in terms of trends. RE6 taking the cake in that other thread and here is basically the wind blowing at this point for a lot of people, I'm in the minority that loves RE6.

Regarding "worst" game that I've played it has to be Ninja Gaiden 3. It's not a good sign when upon finishing a game (NG3 in this case) that I really wanted to go back and play Ninja Gaiden Black or NG2. The game was certainly playable and fun at times, but it got boring to the point where I didn't even bother replaying on the higher difficulties. Probably due to the lack of the upgrade system and lack of weapons made this game that much more annoying that they're fixing this in the updated version for the Wii U which should of have there from the start. NG3 is not a terrible game, it still has its moments, though far and few between.

Fracture - bought it for 10€ so my expectations weren't that high. But the game is so godawful it's amazing. I already accepted that ever since the commercial success of Gears of War this gen early every goddamn company tries to cash in on the TPS hype but at least put some effort in it. Honestly I don't even wanna remember why I hated it so much. Finished it anyway cause after it drove me so mad I at least wanted to see the ending. Generic would be awfully nice to describe the game. Frustrating unimaginative piece of shit probably more accurate. God I hated that game.

Just for fun try to find a copy of Turning Point or Darkest of Days... you might actually change your mind about what is so bad when it comes to shooters :) Fracture is like a AA title compared to those two butt gems.

Its between Resident Evil 6 and Diablo 3 for me. I think my hype was for to big for the later so thats probably the reason why I left so disappointed. But at least I was able to finish it, which didn't happen with RE6, so I will have to go with the first.

L.A. Gridlock (PS minis) - It's a simple tower defense game that I got free from PS+. I'm not at all a fan of the genre and after playing it for 20 minutes I still couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. It might still be worth for others to try, but I personally didn't enjoy it at all.

If I had to shit on a more popular and acclaimed game than RE:ORC, I'd have to go with Borderlands 2. That's a sixty dollar purchase that really burned me.

A game that tries and fails to be humorous and edgy with it's crass and unfunny characters and dialog.

An open world game with a large, but barren map with no incentive to explore.

An RPG with fairly limited and binary character building and predictable, MMO-esque quest design.

A first person shooter with monster closets out the ass and brain dead AI. There's no thought put into encounter design and combat often feels like a mindless slog.

A co-op game that doesn't allow players to work together in any meaningful way.

What is there to like, aside from the loot? And even then, so much of it is junk, aside from the novelty of collecting guns as loot it's not a particularly great loot game.

I guess with Borderlands the "pro" argument would be that the sum is greater than the individual parts, but to me it just feels like a soulless, dull mish-mash of currently popular elements of game design. I played the first game and the loot-on-a-stick was enough to keep me going till the end, but this time I just couldn't do it.

I played Red Faction: Armageddon for the first time a few weeks ago and man was it a huge disappointment... and the final 2 hours of the game were just so ridiculously tedious and boring. Was expecting it to be so much better. Easily the worst Red Faction Game to date in my opinion.

As for games Released this year... Probably SSX, even though I did enjoy it for the most part, I wasn't a huge fan of the campaign.

Journey was shit. Sick if things getting a pass for being good just because they have a unique art style and are from an indie developer.

Toss up between Darksiders II and Dishonored. Very similar circumstances for both:

* Was completely uninterested until shortly before release, then became mildly interested during last minute promotion
* Bored me so much so early that I only got 3 or 4 hours in before being distracted by something shiny

I was also only able to play a few hours of Xenoblade before calling it quits, but in that case I think it's more down to me simply not being able to stomach JRPGs anymore (after loving them dearly for almost 20 years) than any flaws the game itself may have.

Journey wasn't exactly a profound experience for me, but you're pretty far off. Yes, people love the art style, but that's a valid reason for enjoying a game. Especially when we're talking about a $15 "experience". I don't think people really give two shits about the indie angle, if anything it gets a little extra love for being a first party title.

This is the absolute worst game I have played all year. It controls poorly, there is no real method to winning, you just press some attack buttons and hope that you kill the opponents. You have very little direct controls over the mechs, the system just kind of does what it wants to do even though you're supposed to be in charge. After the very playable Macross PS3 hyrbid disc titles, this is an absolute pice of shit.

Giving a game higher praise because of how little it costs is about as bad.

but in the end RE6 is a horrible game... It just that bad.

Saints Row 3 is the only purchase i regret.

medicore gameplay
medicore story
stupid humour

the only saving grace was the 2 - 3 epic scripted moments.

Hydrophobia.

Do you like check points?
Very linear and a short game.
Enemies all look the same.
Clunky controls.
Pitiful starting weapon, getting killed a lot. Enemies accuracy is high while you have to get close or use the environment to take them out.
Last boss fight blows. Took several attempts to beat because the controls suck.

Only good thing is the water.
Totally forgettable. Even for free, it sucks.

I'm just saying that I have different expectations when it comes to a $15 purchase vs. a $60 purchase. I wouldn't give a game "higher praise" because of it's price. That's silly and you should feel silly for suggesting it.

For me, Journey was a unique experience with very pretty art and music. I enjoyed it, but it's short and lacking any depth or replayability. If it was a $60 retail game, I might be disappointed with that aspect of it, but at $15 the price of entry is low enough that a shallow, but pretty 3 hour experience is acceptable.

Spec Ops: The Line. Yes the story is fascinating to watch play out but the game is mechanically junky. Still looks ok and I would even recommend people play it for the narrative but it isn't much of a game. 6/10

Deadlight. The first half is actually fantastic. The decline begins when you do the sewer maze and peaks when you are being chased by the helicopter while following the kid. It forces twitch design into a sludgy animation driven control scheme. 6/10

The worst games you played this year were 6s? Do you work for game informer? :lol

I'd give my pick a 2/10 easily, possibly a 3 if I want to be nice.

RAGE. Some interesting ideas, some lovely art direction wrapped in an utterly boring corridor shooter. It's not terrible, I just lost the will to live a few hours in. Gave up when I got to the races bit. I least I got it super cheap.

id haven't made a good game since Quake 3.

The only reason the worst game all of you played this year wouldn't be Resident Evil 6 should be that you haven't played Resident Evil 6.

Unfortunately, I'm sure Capcom will learn nothing and Resident Evil 7 will be even worse.

Probably Epic Mickey 2 Power of Illusion on 3DS. I had such high hopes being a sequel to Castle of Illusion and all (which still holds up btw). In the end, we got a half-finished platformer, devoid of charm, mediocre level-design and just an all-round lack of imagination. A terrible waste if I ever saw one.

Well, the most disappointing would be Assassin's Creed III but worst game would probably be Painkiller: Hell & Damnation... I just did not like that game.

I got into the beta for hell and damnation. I knew it was a port of the original. It played horrible, and felt horrible. Porting that game to UE3 benefited no one.

I had fun with Resident Evil 6 outside of Jake's storyline. Dissapointment is different from worst game. The game I nominated is a good example of an actual bad game, not just fans being upset.

I still want to play it. :(

Beneath all the QTE's and bullshit cinematics, there's still a fun combat system, right? RE5 had plenty of issues, but methodically battling hordes of zombies never failed to be enjoyable (well, until they started whipping out guns...). If RE6 at least delivers on that end I feel like it could be a decent rental or discounted purchase.

Assassin's Creed III. I didn't even make it to Connor's introduction in the story. The first few hours of plot via the one-month trip overseas was a cool idea, but everything fell apart shortly thereafter. There was nothing interesting about the world. It was an open-world with no interactivity. I ended up just petting cats and dogs in hopes that I'd unlock some cool little secret or something, but nope. The narrative never compelled me to keep going. Boston looked cool, but it was essentially a flat backdrop.

Runner-up: Dishonored. I quit after the brothel stage. Nothing about it kept me wanting to play more.

Second runner-up: Far Cry 3. I'm trying to give it another shot, but I stopped playing it a week ago and haven't had any desire to keep going.

I bought AC2 on a Steam sale, I reall wanted to like it, but just couldn't. I should also check the date I bought Cliffs of Dover, if it was this year it steals the title, otherwise it gets last year's.

Really? I actually find it to be mechanically solid and fun (especially with mouse and keyboard). You can move very smoothly from cover to cover and it feels good taking out enemies quickly. It's not best in class in that regard but it's definitely good.

Its Hitman: Absolution, at least so far. Its actually a pretty solid game but I keep comparing it to Blood Money. I've also heard that RE6 isn't that great but I've yet to play it myself.
