then what does "pet character" even mean??

"used by a writer"

lofl nonsense

"Artie and Leech were totally Hickman pet characters!"

Or do you mean like actual pets lmao

as in constant oversight on said characters. you dont think bendis was talking through luke and jen?

what the hell does lofl mean?

"Laugh Out Fuckin Loud"?

Constant oversight? Meaning they use them wrong in an oversight? Or they need complete control of them? Either way, how does that apply to Carlie Cooper? Were people hoping she'd show up as a member of SHIELD but Slott is standing in the way?

Really? We're going to have to go over that? The notion of one writer liking one character to the point where said character plays a prominent role in stories written by said writer, and said writer trying his hardest to have people look at said character in a positive light, no matter what the circumstances are is so foreign to you? It's pretty much what happened with Geoff Johns and Hal Jordan or Barry Allen, or Bendis and Luke Cage. Or, relevant to the current discussion, Dan Slott and Carlie Cooper, who had AT BEST a supporting character role in One More Day but rose to prominence during Brand New Day, which Dan Slott took part in, and kept getting more and more important as he became the sole writer on Amazing ?

Why does DC feel the need to change creative teams every week?

Lately it's been because the books sold like shit or were going nowhere creatively. And save for Firestorm, they can't really afford to have books that go nowhere and don't have big sales numbers to show for it.

This is where you go off the rails, as your prime assumption here tautologically is that there is nothing that anyone could possibly find compelling about the character.

no, i was replying to the implication that a character cant be someones pet if they werent created by said writer. i dont really give a damn about carlie cooper one way or another.

Well, she'd need to have some flaws to be compelling. But that would mean breaking Dan Slott's perfect super-awesome spideyman fantasy where a once middle-aged out of shape dude gets to be Batman with spider-powers.

So maybe I'm just that out of touch with Marvel stuff. But I don't recognize most of the Avenger's May #11 characters. Uh. Spider Woman, sure. Samurai Captain Marvel??? And then some other guys/gals??? Ninja On Fire Man? Yellow Ranger Robot? Guy With Nunchucks? Plz to halp me understand.

Edit: That's supposed to be Black Widow? o_O

Edit Edit: WTF @.@

I think finding out Peter's SI and then breaking up with him is a pretty interesting character trait.

To me at least. Must be all that tasty Marvel Kool Aid making me think a self-assured female character taking her life into her own hands makes for an interesting read.

LiQuid!

I proudly and openly admit to wishing death upon the mothers of people I don't like
I don't get the Carlie hate? She is a pretty cool character that can take care of herself.

Seems she is going to be the real star of superior!

It's ElNarez dude. You can't classify his hullabaloo as general "hate." He's just a loudmouth with a vendetta. Carlie's totally fine.

Maybe the new writer on Green Lantern is actually The Pope? That'd be a pretty unexpected and gutsy move by DC.

Well, the actual solicit names them all, but the guy with nunchuks is Shang-Chi, the guy on fire is Sunspot, and the robot-looking guy is Cannonball (though I don't recall him ever looking like that).

How similar is Carlie to Chloe from Smallville? Because I hated how Mary Sue that character was. Sometimes it can seem like a writer decides to make the most awesomest character everest do be so totally awesome all the time always. Some people naturally backlash against that. Or what they view as that?

Yeah I saw that when I actually read it (lol words). But I still don't recognize half of them. And I actually try to keep up on Marvel to some degree (as I play Heroclix and they are half the figures) but I don't always succeed.

Because Obviously The Problem Is That I'm A Chauvinistic Pig.

Seriously? What you described barely counts as a character trait, and it does not address my accusation that so far, Dan Slott has only written Carlie as a super-awesome cop who is super great and awesome at being a detective because she's so smart and awesome.

that's weird that i somehow find her super-awesome, as a reader

odd

The one on fire is Sunspot and the yellow one is Cannonball. Those aren't their real costumes. The cover is made to look like a bunch of Japanese icons.... despite the central character, Shang-Chi, being Chinese and the story taking place in Hong Kong.

That... is actually kind of amazing. In a really stupid sort of way.

Ended up buying a 1st run copy of Hawkeye #3 off ebay since it's the only issue I'm missing. Kinda hate paying 4x more than I should've but at least I have it now.
