I look forward to this greatly. They just put much effort into things I can't help but be anxious for the title. Even when giving out Halo swagbags during for charity events they were including little bits and pieces that teased this game. Bravo, can't wait to see what we have here.

And on what are you basing that exactly?

Bungie separated from Microsoft years ago. I asked how long you believe they have any control over Bungie, you said a year, a year has long passed.

Oh well they don't control Bungie, they'll just have a timed exclusive for their next project once its released is all. The IP is totally Bungie's and Activision is just strictly publishing, no creative say.

Just how the relationship between the 2 appears.....?
Which is what? They have no games announced for the PS4, but neither does anyone else.
He means a year exclusivity of the game being out on a certain platform. Game isn't out yet so that year hasn't started counting yet.
That makes some degree of sense, there's always the chance their contract upon leaving was two Halo games and a year's exclusivity window on whatever they make next, but I find that hard to believe personally.

How do you know that though?

That's what I love about it. Till PS2, I've never felt the scale of a war/battlefield in a game. Shits amazing.
Yah but it's gonna be insanely disappointing if that's all this game is.

Of course. Since the art we saw a while back was so delicious. I'll expect a hybrid, with it being slightly scaled down. By that I mean it would include a single player component.

The more I think about it the more I realize I'm more of a Bungie fan than a Halo fan. I honestly don't have any clue what this game will look like or how it plays but it's easily my most anticipated game right now, all because Bungie are the creators. They're not perfect but just like any good fan of a sports team I'll be there to the end. CAN'T WAIT!!

I think the MMO rumors exist because that's probably how they'll charge you to some degree. I'm very interested but will tap out if there is a subscription fee.

Interesting. Really want to see how that fits into the concept and universe. Be brave and face the inevitable (destiny) or be brave and shape your own destiny? I wonder if choice vs. inevitability is a theme in the game.

It wasn't though. Sub-HD resolutions, crap or no AA, really poor facial modeling. Sure they had some ground breaking online functionality like Forge and screenshots, but even their multiplayer was frustrating due to stupid design decisions (no JIP). Playing Halo 4 is a real revelation in what 360 can really achieve graphically and how fun a solid MP matchmaking system can be. Sure, 343's campaign balancing and map design doesn't hold up to Bungie, but their techical accomplishments do shame them.
Reach was released 2 years earlier, plus it had bigger scale, 3D backgrounds and high res animated skyboxes, theatre mode, SSAO etc. If Bungie made Halo 4 they surely would have improved on Reach, too.

So yeah, back in 2010 their tech was second to none.

I think they'll announce it as 360/PS3 and "future hardware". The point is that on the 20th the press are going to be asking Sony if Destiny is coming to PS4 and Sony might be forced to say no (or more likely, "ask Bungie"). Which is not a good look.

So I do think the timing is very favourable to MS because it's a reminder that the next gen Xbox is coming and it will encourage Xbox fans to keep the faith.

Any talk of it "overshadowing" the PS4 is just nonsense though.

Subscription fee is an untenable model. The entire genre sans WoW (which is also affected by the genre trends) is being weened off it. Microtransactions and DLC is how Bungie and Activision will probably do this.

The former I think, with what the rumors contains. Which is also more exciting to me personally.

Activision is paying for it.

But Activision has a contract with Bungie to publish, exclusively, for ten years, three games and three expansions. Then all rights are Bungie's. It's not as if Activision can say BUNGIE YOU ARE MAKING MORE.

Activision can only throw cash and beg.

Sans WoW (being still so big it works) and sans EVE (unique).

Doubt consoles subscription MMO would go well, not on top of Live cost. On PS3/4... *shrug*.

Sony wouldn't answer that, or any other similar question. They never announce additional SKUs of games they don't publish, certainly not off the cuff when asked in an interview. Even if it is coming, they couldn't announce it if they don't have permission from Activision.

Like every other Q4, it will be stacked with shooters. I don't think MS' new IP FPS will be ready by fall 2013, but there's also stuff like Battlefield 4.

Battlefield 4 is aimed for April-May 2014. The beta however, is aimed for Fall 2013.

Just wondering, was a Microsoft FPS shooter IP announced or is it speculation? Would love to see something new and fresh. There are already so many games announced, which I will definetely buy and play for next gen. I'm really happy, that next gen is comming. :)

MS Vancouver, now called Black Tusk, is working on 4 new IPs, one of them is heavily rumoured to be an FPS.

I'm very happy next gen is coming too :D Especially so since MS has so many games and new IPs in development overall, something I thought they'd skimp out on when they're going the media hub approach.

Which might or might not be that good? If your looking at just how the CoD relationship has been this gen.
Sony got all those games day and date, other than 2, but that's because the PS3 wasn't out. Small windowed DLC exclusivity is nothing compared to locking down a game for a year. It's like saying because Sony got some exclusive shit on EA games that Respawn's game won't be on XB3 for a year. It's not on the same level at all.

The contract that leaked (which is almost certainly not still accurate), doesn't seem to indicate it's exclusive for any real reason other than feasibility. That's why the PS3 port a year later isn't even required and would be based on market and technical viability. If it was just that MS has paid to lock it down for a year, surely there would absolutely be a PS3 or 4 version after the twelve months are up.

Not that it really matters, you can log-in with PSN, and it has PlayStation related logos. It's coming to at least one of them at this point. I think if the contract changed, but MS has paid to lock down just the next-gen version for a year, that'd be very smart for Activision and for Microsoft. And I think there's no better game to use to debut the XB3 hardware. If it's next-gen exclusive for them, it's going to be by far their biggest title at launch, to hold off to show the new console on some shitty Rare game instead of this would be kind of disappointing.

Ah okay, makes sense then.

I don't buy the "steal Sony's thunder argument". What motivation does Bungie/Activision have to lessen the impact of a Sony reveal if they're also going to be selling their games on Sony consoles?

The same motivation that they have to have timed exclusive map packs on 360. $$$

I think someone read a LinkedIn profile too quickly. It was a product manager who had worked on 4 new IP's for Microsoft, including something at Microsoft Studios Vancouver aka Black Tusk. Black Tusk might be behind 2 of those, but the majority will come from Microsoft Studios – Redmond Publishing.

Of course. But if it's not mentioned at all on the 20th (whether by someone from Bungie/Acti or Sony under permission) it will be conspicuous by its absence. If the Destiny trailer is good, and I'm sure it will be, people will be asking Sony about it, no doubt about that. And I think many of us expect MS to be featuring Destiny front and centre when they reveal Durango.

It basically becomes an implicit announcement of a next gen Xbox, before MS themselves are ready or able to do it.

It's all speculation and I'm not saying it's an MS conspiracy. I just think the timing is helpful for MS.

I don't know what someone will ask, but they would get the same answer if they asked about literally any other game.

However, I think this would be a good thing for MS, if they show a gameplay trailer on XB3 hardware. If they can announce they're even going to be on XB3. Because if not, it's not going to benefit either first party. That's why I think it's possible we'll get to see it on XB3. The idea we're just getting some CG bullshit, or seeing it on a 360 is stupid to me (not saying the people suggesting that are stupid), it benefits Bungie, Activision and Microsoft to show it on XB3, even if they have to say something like "The game running in real-time on the next generation Xbox console", or whatever.

I think those ARGs need lot of prepare time. I don't think it was last minutes, they planned it long time ago.
