Also, really happy that they've swapped out for the high quality models for in game stuff. SMART MOVE.

They haven't swapped anything.

Right model has always been used in cutscenes only, left is the actual in-game model, and it was better filtered on PSV but still looks pretty much the same.

Indeed. The lower detail characters were also used in some less important cutscenes.

Just pulled this screen from a Youtube video:

So the new one is a huge improvement. Considering I expected no effort whatsoever and a straight port, I'm actually impressed.

I hope it's the International version.

I don't care so much about the better textures and more detailed models.

I'm amazed at their ability to just completely out class Valve in avoiding not just '3', but three whole numbers in the third set of their FF games rather consistently and without fail. I mean, I understand why, but damn.

I don't have a PS3 neither a Vita, but this game, I must ... resist...

F*#%

It's a system seller for me. Guess I'll buy a Vita after the release ASAP.

Thanks for that, much easier to see the improvements now.

is this even a trailer? i mean just character models standing and making it seen on a vita...

now they can't even make a proper trailer...what a shame...
how much they have fallen...

still waiting for FFXV, anything before it is pure vaporwave imho and doesn't interest me at all

Indeed. Like I say, I'm actually rather impressed. It's not 'Vita quality', but it's miles ahead of what the PS2 could do.

I wish they had shown better images to be honest. A year's worth of work or more and all you have to show for it is a blurry/filtered 720p video that makes it difficult to see the improvements without a comparison image? C'mon...

Framerate looked kinda wonky to me as well.

I'm not gonna judge that off a YouTube video, what with them being 30 FPS and all. It'd be in pretty bad faith given how... seemingly early the project still seems to be. :p

Well I wouldn't be doing comparisons off of youtube either since they usually have lower quality once uploaded.

The character models look even better than the in-game cutscenes models !
I hope they release a true trailer soon.

The Blitzball sign up on that rafter there is inside-out (as are the weapon and item signs). Was it always like this?

Also, I had almost forgotten that Yuna has two different shades of eye color. With these models you can really see it.

If that's only what they have to show, that's not a good sign. It reminds me of that FF7 demo for the PS3 unveiling. Looks like it's far off. It's weird it takes so much time, it's "only" a HD port.

I remember when i first played FFX a million years ago. I was like "YEAH, this Blitzball looks fun! Oh yeah, i read it all, i know all the rules! Cmon, lets play! It will be great!!!!!"

And then i played the blitzball bits.... and it was maybe the worst videogame experience i had in my life.

Vaan was definitely the protagonist, though he was merely an empty vessel to the player to step inside, storywise.

It's hard to judge how much has been improved from these screenshots.

I agree upon a second look I can see improvments but I had to look really hard because the released screens are terible quailty and I will be buggered by the devil himself if that video is even remotely 720p :(

Still a little bothered that after 2 years this is all we get, I was maybe hoping for a trailer or just something a little more

Just popped in the International version on PCSX2 with 4x uprendering and 4x MSAA to compare with the posted screenshots.

There's significant improvement in the game models used, you can actually see the individual fingers on Yuna's ingame (not cutscene) model in the posted screenshots. The PS2 model only had crude rectangles to represent her fingers.

EDIT:- What Dantis said and posted, good show ol chap.

One of the best FFs I've played on the console, great direction and character motivations plus a memorable plot and ending.

The Sphere Grid has yet to beaten in terms of completely offering full customization for your characters in ANY FF game. Not even the License Grid in vanilla FFXII can boast such flexibility, the Crystarium in XIII is also a pale imitation of the SG in X. (Remove Spheres and +4 Spheres to all stats)

The joy of making my characters into Demigods to take on the Dark Aeons in X International has never been surpassed in any FF since. 250+ to all stats, 80000+ HP on all chars, + crafting the Best Armor (Break HP Limit, Auto Life, Auto Phoenix, Ribbon) + getting the Best weapons.. Also the FF with the greatest Damage capable with a single hit (99999 damage).

I could go on all day why this is best FF.

I'm relieved to see i'm not the only one who finds this video unimpressive.I expected it to look a bit better.Maybe with some better lighting effects or something.

Still FFX is one of my favourite FF's ever so that means i'll buy it regardless.

I got an idea!! Let's work on a HD "remake" of the worst male protagonist in any Final Fantasy ever !!

lol
Tidus>Vaan, Onion Knight and Warrior of Light (based on their own games not Dissidia). And that's being very cautious in my comparisons.

But GILGAMESH isn't in it. So it automatically sucks.

So this will come to the west, right? ...right?

Model look good and I'm glad it's alive. One of the reasons I wanted a Vita in the first place.
