Finally something to look forward to.
What's everybody getting it on ( for those without PCs)?
360 or PS3? Have no connection to friend lists. Which is the better version?
These reviews are all spoiling a bunch of minor things I really don't want spoiled.

It's getting great reviews! Oh no! This doesn't bode well with my cynicism!
I was an honors english student through school and college (not trying to brag since I actually hated those classes and the amount of work we had to do, it's just one of the only subjects I excelled at for some reason) so I get most of what they're saying. It's just after a certain point they come across as really trying too hard to come up with new ways to praise the next big AAA game. It really feels like a verbal dick measuring contest between them.
Sounds like the consensus is slightly higher IQ on PS3.
Where did you read that? The only thing I've seen mention differences between the console versions was the GI review, which said PS3 does have a slight edge. Didn't mention why though.
So it's up to a 96 Metacritic on 360, with 38 reviews in so far for the PC version... 17 of which are 10/10s. I can't remember the last time I've seen so many perfect scores. Mass Effect 2, I guess.
I am so SO happy this game is getting favorable reviews. I wanted so bad for this game to be what I imagined it would be since it was first shown. It's starting to look that way.
Oh, and it's nice to love Adam Sessler again. G4 just made him, (and the channel itself) just plain unwatchable. Rev3 may just be my go to review site simply because it's a nice format for the review. It still gives a score, but the discussion is nice.
The default position on all reviews is that all reviews are basically valueless since it's impossible to know who is paid off in one way or another or who is sharing their legitimate perspective.
I don't think cynicism is the negative thing you seem to be implying here, considering the reason people are cynical about reviews is because of the 9 billion game journalism controversies over the past decade. Don't you think it's fair at this point to squint one's eyes just a tad and do the skeptics look?
I didn't have any hype at all from what i've seen prior to the reviews. But now that i'm playing it... Goddamn.I hope the reviews are right and it surprises me, because I haven't been feeling the hype at all despite preordering, we'll see when it unlocks.
Wow, Sesslers review is AMAZING. He is on a whole other level from other reviewers.
As you might expect, though, these are non-issues on the PC, where the number keys offer instant access to vigors and the mouse scroll wheel zips through your full list of guns.

Did IGN lie to PC gamers to make us buy the game? Their review said that there is no 2 weapon limit on PC. Quote:
Now they changed it to:
PCGamer's review reads like a snarky blog post, but for some reason they gave it a 91%. I'm very confused.
Score:You'll see a lot of BioShock in Infinite, but even if you try to make direct comparisons between the two, it's clear that Infinite is a far better game than its predecessor. It moves at a better pace, with more meaningful and more playable big encounters than BioShock. But it still carries that sense of exploration and the feeling of dread that comes with knowing that everything is just continuing to unravel before your very eyes. Watching Columbia fall while attempting to take Elizabeth away from the floating city is a fantastic way to spend a few days.
Just a tad? Of course.
Bending over backwards? Absolutely not.
Everyone can stop worrying. With BioShock Infinite, which goes on sale on Tuesday, Mr. Levine and his colleagues at Irrational have produced yet another video game that is a model of what the medium can achieve. This world an alternate history with a dollop of science fiction that is set in the United States of 1912 is dense, fascinating and inventive.
Not everything in the game is perfect. The world and the characters are so well drawn that small, video gamy things feel infelicitous. Why does Booker spend so much of his time rather creepily rifling through the pockets of freshly dead corpses, looking for ammunition and spare change? Why do some bodies turn into searchable lockboxes upon death? Why are there vending machines that sell weapons for coins (thus requiring Booker to spend so much of his time corpse robbing)?
A game like this, which demands a deep and focused investment of player time and attention, is powerful evidence that narrative for people with long attention spans is thriving. You just have to know where to look.
I mean at this point I'd bend even further than backwards; I'd break my damn back with my skepticism. There's just no way at all to hold reviews in any regard because I personally have no way anymore to tell who's legit and who is not.
Which is why I love neoGAF, of course. A core group of gamers, among them individuals I implicitly trust and respect even when I disagree with them, and in them I find a metacritic that actually matters
same here bro, same here
With reasonable critique.
Nice review, but this part doesn't seem reasonable to me. Complaining about looting? Really? Some elements in games need to remain, because they still need to be FUN, while having an amazing immersive narrative.

I see how it is

Curious, cause if true PS3 may be using MLAA, where as 360 could be using a blurry version of FXAA. This is what happened with Tomb Raider.
This is how I feel about Derrick. A few of my favourite games are ones that he hates with a fiery passion (and I do mean fiery) but we've always had good conversations on GAF and I respect his posts because he always articulates why he dislikes something.I do that a lot, too. DocSeuss hates one of my all-time favorite games Half-Life 2, but he articulates his problems with the game so well sometimes I even find myself nodding along with his posts, even when I disagree vehemently.
If this game inspires enough passion, I'm sure I'll do a big post you can judge for yourself, lol
