Bioshock Infinite | Official Spoiler Thread |

Glad the game ended the way it did and the characters choose not to remain ignorant as to how Elizabeth's finger was mutilated. We would otherwise have had threads on the wincest that would had happened.

Regarding The Vox, I think there's really two reasons why their story wasn't fleshed out more. One being that it doesn't really serve the purpose of telling Booker's story and the other being that I don't think Ken or the other writers felt they could accurately give this faction a voice that wouldn't seem contrived. I mean people are complaining about how they went from oppressed to violent without exposition to detail it but I think any attempt at excessive exposition would've made them more like a token literary faction.

It's easy enough for me to understand that after decades of blatant and disgusting abuse.. once given the ability they unleash hell on those they blame for their treatment. I don't recall The Vox ever standing for equality so much as just the end of the current Regime.

Edit: Also.. I'm addicted to this. <3 me some solid Barbershop.

I'd really love to see more of the 1984 timeline as DLC. I really loved the 2 big timeline jumps where you have Booker as the martyr and Old Elizabeth being "bad" basically. Those sort of "what if?" timeline scenarios are awesome. If all of the DLCs were basically variations of different "What if?" scenarios that would be pretty neat.

As for the Vox, ultimately they're not that important. Same with Columbia and the Founders too. All of those trappings kind of become irrelevant past a certain point when the story becomes more about the individual characters like Booker, Comstock and Elizabeth and less about the larger goings on of Columbia. So fleshing out the Vox or Founders might be interesting but I can kind of see why those factions weren't necessarily given more screentime. They end up being background noise for the larger narrative of the game.

There's a poster in the beginning that's clearly Fink, that's like those Uncle Sam posters. "I want YOU to come to the July 6th Raffle"

To get back to things I actually enjoy about this game, I love pretty much everything about the intro, right past the beach scene part. Some of the most effective opening hours to any action game I've played before, and seems even better on a second playthrough when you understand all the seeds they planted right in front of you. AD for the false prophet, "He DOESN'T row" "the seed of the prophet shall sit the throne and drown in flame the mountain of man", "Is it a new one?" "It's always heads", "I know everything about you...Booker DeWitt" *nosebleed* etc. I love it's fairground that's part-world building, part-tutorial, and totally optional. I love that there's a parade of floats that celebrates Columbia's history but is also informing the player of the broadstrokes of Comstock's narrative. I love that even when Elizabeth isn't there, she hangs over all the proceedings with the giant Monument Island watching over everything. ALL the music is great, from the imperfect crowd "Goodnight Irene" rendition when you're walking up the stairs to the impending violence, to the fantastic escape from Songbird. That distorted voice the Prophet speaks in "The Lord forgives everything...but I'm just a Prophet...so I don't have to. Amen" and that crazy escape from the Zeppelin. The entire presentation to the Murder of Crows head zealot fight, with the scratchy Air on the G String in the background

Neiteio mentioned that BS1 starts out really well, then ends flat, and BS2 starts really slow but ends very well. For me, BI begins spectacularly, has some peaks and valleys throughout the middle, then sticks a very satisfying landing. I'm only so critical of the game because I like it so much.

to where or when, and why?

To Comstock House in the "bad" future where Comstock successfully bends Old!Elizabeth to his will. You are brought there by Old!Elizabeth so she can give you the melody with which to control Songbird. This will help you avoid the "bad" future.

You see tears in the sky as you cross the bridge.

EDIT - We were all beaten.

Wait for the next game. Levine is clearly working his way up from child-killing, to racism, to de Sade :p

I know it was mentioned earlier that "There Will Be Blood" was an inspiration for the soundtrack and for me, that was most apparent playing the game during the Songbird segment and the Fink segment.

The Songbird track in particular reminds me of Convergence in how it all builds up. This was probably the most reminiscent.

While Lions Walk With Lions seems similar to Proven Grounds and, much, much more apparently to Future Markets. EDIT: Not that they're the same by any stretch just in case it looks like I'm trying to suggest any form of plagiarism, just that I thought the inspiration could be felt.

It's certainly not a problem though, the soundtrack is excellent and There Will Be Blood seemed like a perfect inspiration for it.

EDIT: Also, there's not really spoilers in the videos as they're merely parts of the soundtrack so if you've not seen the movie it should be ok to listen to them (although, if you've not seen the movie, you really should).

This Polygon roundtable is pretty entertaining but listening to them try and explain why Booker dying at the end kills all the Comstocks is killing me.

Going through the game again I can't figure out why the one peacemaker knows Elizabeth's real name is Anna. Why would she know?

I think I stole it whilst browsing /v/, so it probably represents something horrible and offensive :/.

I just thought it fit a theoretical post-ending Liz :)

I thought it was just some sort of cosmically ironic codeword for alerting the rest of the team. It's kinda implied that this group were handpicked for the task, however, so perhaps they know more than the average soldier? I think it's the former though.

What I want to know is... why anna? was there some hint that only she would be a rightful heir to Comstock or something like that? Why wouldn't Comstock get a baby from his own world?

Due to the infertility it would make sense to still want 'his' own child. Even though, yeah, he basically fucked up everything in the process.

Maybe he wanted his own biological child? He's relied on science and the tears for everything else.

Comstock was sterile, so he couldn't make his own. The archangel Columbia said his line must rule Columbia, and getting his alternate's baby is the next best thing, since Booker is technically him.

Mm, I think the relationship between his infertility, Lady Comstock, and Anna could've been fashioned into something a bit more fleshed out. There was a lot more space for character development for both Comstock and LC.

Because he saw a vision from the future that it was his seed that would rain fire. So in order to fulfill that future he needed his own child.. he couldn't father a child in his own timeline... so he improvised.

She does ask her if she is "Annabelle", which might be unrelated to her being "Anna" and simply be a trick to verify that the girl is Elizabeth considering that the tower where she was kept has been abandoned for quite some time and they might not know exactly what she looks like.

Yes it's just funny in retrospect.

Also Annabelle, Anna (her real name) + Belle (the Disney princess she looks just like)

For sure. I seriously dislike how wishy washy the whole Vox stuff turned out because it feels wasteful as other elements of the game could have been fleshed out in its stead.

Owh...ok.

Man that scene when Elizabeth brings him to Rupture blows my mind.

Well, that's their theory at least. I think there's a number of logistical holes in it, and prefer to believe that any Dewitt's that went to baptism were drowned, and we just experience a different timeline's Dewitt. Or maybe Liz altered something in our probabilities past to stop our Dewitt from going to the baptism, saving us from drowning, and allowing Anna to still exist.

There's ton's of theories, but no hard truths.

So basically there's only 2 Dewitt---one who go through baptism and one who rejects it.

Anna made those who go through baptism drown, thus Comstock cease to exist and Dewitt-reject-baptism still live with his daughter debt ridden.

Oh, yeah, that's right. I didn't link the fact that it was supposed to be his line who should run Columbia with the fact that Booker is actually Comstock.

There's 3 DeWitts I guess.

Comstock
The Player
The DeWitt from the Vox world who died a martyr

Edit: but yeah the last two are both from the same branch, where he chose not to be baptized.

Anna drowned ALL dewitts. She even says that it must be done before he makes the choice.

The martyr Dewitt is still him who rejects baptism.

That would make no sense in regards to the post-credit scene.

Well that's when the paradox takes place, destroying all the comstock timelines.

Least that's how I believe people are interpreting it in the op.

That's a bloody good point. I like this alot, it ties in nicely with the idea that "Columbia is a monument to Booker's sins".

That's what I've been trying to tell people.

The revolution is more of a symbolic metaphor to the state of Booker, rather than the state of Columbia.

If the coin flip thing is any indication, there's minimum 244 Dewitts. 122 that flipped Heads, and 122 Comstocks to buy those 122 Heads-flippers' babies.

In game, at least 4, possibly 6...Dewitt's from Player Universe, Vox Rebellion universe, possibly Old Liz universe...and complementary Comstocks'.

In most implementations of multiverses, there's an infinite number of Dewitt's. The probability of one becoming Comstock = probability of a Dewitt reaching the Baptism with the probability of Dewitt accepting baptism.

That's what I took away from the end as well.
Having Booker being killed by Elizabeth before he becomes Comstock contradicts both timelines and when the universe recovers from the paradox it cancels both out.
The Booker in the end should neither be the one we know, nor the one that became Comstock.
It's an entirely new timeline that is everything, but the contradicting ones.
