I think maybe we should start thinking about some low level stuff.

I think at some point, probably this weekend, we (as in this thread and any lurkers willing to help) should start tweeting a link to the website, the OP and include the hashtag. Maybe even add June 5th just to get anyone curious that is looking through the hashtag feed on twitter plenty of opportunities to see that something is cooking. Something akin to:

Phase two of #PS4NoDRM is coming June 5th. Click for more info (website link) (op link)

(obviously we need to figure more stuff out and have it in the OP and website before we push this...)

We also need to figure out some of the smaller details like what is the opportune time of day to for good US/Euro balance. And I'm guessing we should start a few hours before that so it can be cooking already when the most potential people to help are on.

Should we make a new thread? I say no. I don't know how much residual traffic we will get from the old thread, reddits, news stories, or whatever... but it will come to this thread. Maybe we can, at the proper time, get a mod to update the title.

We will need volunteers to contact the press in the lead up to this. I personally would rather have it done this way.... people volunteering and then we'll split up the outlets based on how many volunteer. I think this is better than just trying to blast the press with tweets (though we can do that as well as it's starting...). Like I talked to the videogamer.com guy who interviewed me and he seemed open to the idea of doing another story about phase 2. So if he and I can work together to get something up wednesday morning that would obviously be a huge boon for us. And the more stories like that which we can get... the better.

Don't volunteer yet, btw. I'm not ready to start cutting and pasting names yet. I will start this over the weekend.... it's really something that won't need to be done by the volunteers until monday or tuesday. Actually, since these may be harder to find.... I'll take foreign language volunteers now (PM me). If we get a bunch of those we can break it up like saying "gafferX and gafferY, you guys are in charge of spanish language sites - contact each other in PMs to decide who is contacting which sites." Stuff like that...

#PS4NoDRM #XboxOneDRM will be the two official tags of phase two unless there is an outpouring of anger (i suppose i should be open to such things :p). If you hate sony or microsoft you are, of course, allowed to tweet whatever you want.

I don't think we should give up on getting new media in here but I think we should concentrate on those that already have covered it first as they are probably more likely to be interested, i would assume.

There's more, that's just off the top of my head. We don't need to go nose to the grindstone yet.... and in fact will be enjoying a night or two of rest. But if people are itching for stuff to think about/do... here ya go :)

Sounds like a plan. If we're going to tweet press outlets who have already covered the story then im down for contacting some again for phase 2, hopefully all of them have twitter.

Hi everyone!

This is my first post on NeoGAF and I just wanted to say that this thread was the reason for me to sign up at this forum.

I've been a NeoGAF reader for years already, but I've never seen such an enthusiasm on a gaming site before! This thread combines the hope and the will to change the situation for the better and I wasn't expecting that these things still exist in this industry.

What a few big publishers are doing to the core of gamers for some time past is disgusting. They're ruining everything right now. Can't they remember anymore that it was us, who made them big? Are they too blind to see that it'll be us, who will help them to go even through the hardest time? Sometimes I get the feeling that we're in the midst of a downfall: The glorious days of gaming are over and the desk criminals started the looting already. “Burn everything down! They'll have to follow us into smart phone and tablet gaming” is what they are yelling. Après moi, le déluge.

The reveal of the XBox One was a slap in the face for almost everyone of us and I expected a cynical reaction from the hard core, but instead there was this thread. After all this years, NeoGAF was still able to rise gracefully and instead of nerd raging, Gaffers started this constructive campaign for a future, in which they will be respected. And that NeoGAF addressed this campaign to Sony was the well-deserved slap in the face for Microsoft.

I'm not a native speaker and so I have to apologize for false grammar and stuffy language, but I guess you get the point.

You guys are awesome and you should feel awesome! They sow the wind and reap the whirlwind!

You speak English better than me! :p

Oh and welcome to GAF, hope you enjoy it here!

I'd be happy with a system that let first time buyers be able to sell their game and the buyer would not have to pay an activation fee to play it.

or just take a cut of the money your GameStop's make etc make and leave people to sell on eBay or trade on forums.

Although I have no love for Microsoft after their Xbone reveal, I've tweeted to all the Microsoft guys from the OP. If for nothing else, then for the sake of the entire gaming industry and for all my fellow gamers that prefer Xbox.

This is my first post as well. I couldn't of said it better myself WICKED. I signed up to this site for the same reason. This thread impressed me so much that I decided to switch from being a lurker. This industry has so many problems, don't get me started. It doesn't matter if your a PlayStation, Xbox, PC or Nintendo guy, we are all Gamers and we can come together and fight for the future of everyone's favorite hobby. This is just awesome. :)

I... I can't believe it. I got my account validated Horray! ^_^
So, here is another First Post from a newcomer. Please, if i seem noobish in any way, tell me what i did wrong :) I want to stay and not get banned like that "Worst post" the other day.
OK, so, as the poster above, i joined NeoGAF because of this very thread. I read about it when you got your first media coverings and i've been following the thread since and tweeting.
First of all, as i already said in twitter (I'm @DamianLealClara ) Thank you all for your willingness to make change. To not let greedy companies destroy the gaming hobby and community.
I've been helping you in any way i've been able: Tweeting, telling my friends, Facebook... Even campaigning while playing White Knight Chronicles :)
And i'm eager to join the forum and be able to help a little more.
And, just as W!CKED, English is not my native language. It's Spanish :)

So, please, count me in for helping :)

OK, now, to find an avatar and everything...

Another new GAFer (GAFer or GAFfer?) here. I've been lurking for a while and followed the #PS4noDRM-campaign from the beginning. I don't do Twitter, but I'm probably going to register to help with the pre-E3 push. Really appreciate the awesome work you GAFers are doing. ;-)

New gaffers dont go hard in the paint fir your console of choice.

This was an crazy time for new users ti get in.... So many dudes won't make it past E3

Great effort up to this point from everyone who participated in that. Just a few days left and we will know for sure if it worked out for us. 5th July will be important though.

Now retrospectively, I guess we made our point clear to the press and to Sony. Microsoft has heard our voices, too. For our phase #1 it's up to them if they take notice of their customers. Phase #2 will set the tone and the pressure for E3 and will make it clear once again that we won't participate in their new pricing model. "We" as the "core" gamers. They absolutely know from what direction the shots have been fired.
Every developer, console maker and what have you that takes our threats serious and understands that the customer matters most will eventually have an advantage in the future over all the other companies that stick with DRM and no used games. Loyalty makes a big chunk of the market share.

Of course casual gamers make a big chunk, too but they don't buy as many games as we do. They will buy some of the games and use the console as a media hub. At least that's how most of my friends and colleagues, who are just casual gamers, used xbox360 and ps3 as well as wii.

I'm really excited to see how this turns out before, during and after E3.

If anyone would be so kind to 'banner' my avatar in a way that does not block the face of the magnificent Kaz™, I'd gladly participate.

Welcome to all the new gaffers

Miles, I'm quoting you for this thread as this development may reflect some of people's efforts here, and may warrant greater participation in the next phase push.

we should include microsoft in the big push on june 5th

Thanks. To add to this,

E3 seems to be the focal point where they'll talk more about this. A push on June 5th for both might just see this attempt to erode consumer rights on all sides shot down for the foreseeable future.

Interesting, Microsoft doing a statement before Sony? Let's hope it's good news for us.

Yeah interesting. Sony did say they would address it at E3 so im guessing we wont hear anything till then (make it a tiny part of the conference?) but as long as both MS and Sony listen that's what matters.

I'd gladly disconnect my console these days, but sadly, these are precisely the last days of White Knight Chronicles Online Mode (Closing June 18th) and i'm sure many of my friends will want to play like there's no tomorrow.

However, if we agree to do this (And i also think it's better to do this from June 1-5 till the new push) i'll play Call of Juarez offline.

BTW who made this? any clues? We could contact them and tell them it's better to do this before E3

Oh, and a thousand thanks, Krusenstern :)

No idea its just circulating on twitter. People are starting their own mini-movements everywhere and I guess this is one of them

I thought the same thing. Surely it should be before E3.

Agreed. If either/both don't address this head-on during their E3 conference or before, I'm assuming the worst. If we don't hear by the end of the convention, I doubt we'll hear anything until they're on store shelves and people start finding out the ugly truth the hard way.

God I think it would be stupid for them to ignore this beyond E3.

Honestly, it would annoy me even more if they left us in the dark even longer. Just come out and inform your customers.

They would be stupid if they didn't come out, show the #PS4NoDRM or #XBOXONENoDRM hashtag, reference it and say we listened and grant your wishes. PR gold mine

You da man, Krusenstern, thanks a bunch.

I've got a feeling Sony will wait a couple days before E3 and drop some info. Either that or some Pre-E3 "rumor" will wind up being more or less true, kinda like XBO conference.
