The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons/Ages 3DS VC release |OT|

The codes are pretty much worth your while. They give you all sorts of things like
sword power-ups potentially all the way to L4, heart pieces so you can have 16 hearts instead of 14, and even a two-handed sword
.

Sounds cool, but why would I need that in my finished file of the other game?
Also, do you have to activate them in the tree? I went to one place in Seasons which I were told in Ages, but couldn't enter the code anywhere.

Just breezed through Jabu-Jabu's dungeon in Ages. I remembered it to be one of the toughest of the series, but aside from some confusing bits it's quite straightforward and short.

You give the code to the specific Seasons person you're told by the Ages character.
The Seasons person will give you an item and a new code in return (which is conveniently copied to a code list you will find with Farore in the Seasons Maku tree).
You then tell the new "return" code to Farore in the Ages Maku tree, and you will get the same item.

I don't know why you couldn't find the person in Seasons... As long as it's a Complete save, then the person will be there. Maybe you didn't look hard enough?

Just use the "add exact funds" option, no more issue with useless leftover money.

Oops forgot about that. True.

Edit: finished Dungeon 7 and got the last 2 heart containers. Also got maple's earlier by chance. Is there a good way to increase the odds of getting the container from Gasha Nuts? I have a few planted that have been there a while so I'll check those. Any mounds that may increase the chances?

If I have enough after downloading New Leaf tonight I plan to grab one of these now and the other later. Which one would you guys recommend to get first? If it helps at all my favorite 2d Zelda title is Link's Awakening.

I played Seasons first, it feels like Link's Awakening quite a bit.

I love the password system. It's fun! I didn't like changing seasons that much but I'm enjoying the puzzles in Ages. Just did the one to get to the 4th dungeon and I thought I was doing it all wrong... but I got it!

Is there a reason why buying stuff on eShop for 3DS is so much faster and easier than eShop on Wii U?

Anyways, Zeldas have been bought! So much Zelda on my SD card now.

I am going through seasons at the moment ( bought both) and have to say I am loving the game so much.

I hope Minish goes up eventually too at some point.

I'm supposed to play OoA and OoS at the same time? At what point will people start spitting codes at me for me to input into the other game?

1.) Play through either game in its entirety
2.) Get code to transfer progress to other game
3.) Play other game and people will give you codes to input back in first game. They'll give you return codes back to second game.
4.) Complete second game, finish linked story.

Basically. In other words, beginning in your second game (the 'linked' game) that's when you'll start getting codes to input back into your already completed first game. And of course you'll get a return code to bring back to your in-progress second game.

And the 3DS virtual console title swapping is not intrusive at all, very quick. Not a hassle in the slightest really.

Finished Seasons and started Ages last night! Onox was no where near as tough as I remember him. The only boss that gave me trouble was the one in Level 5.

First time having to use the note taking app....feels good!

Well I feel dumb now. I've been using my phone and it's a heck of a hassle because the note-taking app doesn't come with arrow characters.

Huh. Interesting.

Does the heart section expand to accommodate the extra hearts? I finished Seasons with 13.75 hearts. I needed the one from Maple and grinding was going nowhere, when I started Ages my password exchanging resulted in an extra heart which left me pretty confused.

Speaking of the password stuff, I'm trying to give the Mayor in Holodrum one but he wont accept it even though I've confirmed that it's correct. Any thoughts? The only thing I can think of is that I recently gave a password to someone else but they wanted me to complete some boring task before they'd reward me, so I didn't do it.

Not sure on this one. Only thing I can say it one of the symbols you might be mistaking for a similar one.

There's a password generator. Maybe you could use this if you want to "continue" from a game you beat long ago.

GameFAQs says there's
an Advance shop.
What's the significance? Would it be too much to ask of Nintendo to properly emulate this feature? (Maybe it already does???)

You get an extra random ring and a GBA exclusive ring (it doesn't do anything though, purely for collection). You can get it through password manipulation if you really care.

I need help! I'm playing a linked Seasons game. So, I've told some secrets to people in Ages and I've received extra stuff & now received a password to get that item in Seasons.

However, I don't know where Farore is - definitely not at Maku Tree. Where do I go in Seasons to use those passwords?

...INSIDE the Maku Tree?

Inside the tree.

So I love both Oracles - Ages more so - but Seasons is really rubbing me wrong. I've never noticed how easy it can get. Without an emphasis on puzzles, it just feels way too easy, with health drops seeming to be the majority of drops, as well as every single enemy, even ones that don't even hurt Link, giving him some. It's just silly that they would focus the game so much more so on the combat, but take away the challenge by making health too prevalent.

But I've already got like 2 essences, I think. I've got the Winter power for the Rod of Seasons. Do I need 3 essences?

Oh yeah, you're right - sorry. I think the 1st essence makes the tree grow bigger, the 2nd one even bigger, and the 3rd puts the cave to access Farore in the tree.

(The subsequent essences make the tree grow other interesting things, too.)

I spent the last three hours planting Gasha Seeds, racking an insane number of rings and progressing with the trade quest (Seasons here). Feels so good.
But I'm wondering how much can I progress in the trade quest before the seventh dungeon?
If I remember correctly I was at the point when
I traded the engine oil for the phonograph, I've got NO idea about what to do with it now but it was the same with the pot or the megaphone so I'll just have to search a little bit more mmh

I found the last couple of dungeons really challenging in seasons. I dunno if i wouldve finished it if it wasnt for save states.

Strange. Everytime I try to input the Holodrum code I got in Ages into a new file in Seasons I get my name changed from Link to Lino. And I'm pretty sure I'm not confusing any character or putting it in small case.

The Phonograph is the last item. You can find a deku scrub in the lost woods who gives you a hint. The hint is to go left as it gets warmer.

Yay I finally finished Seasons, in 25 hours compared to 15 hours of Link's Awakening. I guess there is more content or I just wandered a lot more.

Off to beat Ages now!

The last dungeon in Seasons (
Sword and Shield Maze
) is far too frustrating, as is Onox (
his dragon form, at least
).

I don't understand the dancing minigame in Ages. The instructions give you two actions, however in the minigame you apparently need 3? I thought one of them would simply be doing nothing (when the Goron kneels down or some shit) but then I lose immediately.

Not feeling lots of content between the dungeons here, they also just had to repeat that annoying forest maze for some reason... :/ I thought I was little burnt out at first, but Seasons was really just much more fun (And also had a better map design so far)

LA took me 22 and seasons took me 20. I think they're about the same. HLTB shows them both at around 15 hours so there you go.

I would have been tearing my hair out versing onox if it wasnt for save states haha. He's still tough even with them.

With Onox I disliked that you had to
use the rod on Din crystal. Also the spinning attack that I never used either, even forgot I had it.
I had to look online for these two, I wouldn't have figured otherwise. Also his
Dragon form
is much easier once you figure out to
face upwards for an easy spinning sword hit

Ages is just too damned good, guys. Just cleared level 3 and it's just so refreshing to play a Zelda again where you'll have more than one key on hand at a time. Dungeons with depth, Ninty please bring them back =\

I had a ring that prevented damage from electricity, so I just ignored Din. The first part of the fight was fine, it was just the dragon part that was frustrating (a lot of his attacks are difficult to avoid).
