That's not even Atlus though.
I know.

GungHo seems much more likely.
That would be cool. The GungHo CEO seems pretty cool.
Not to mention flush with cash. The Japanese version of Puzzle and Dragons makes 4 million dollars A DAY.

Would it be wise to quickly purchase some of the Atlus-published games that I missed out on over the past few years? Would this news even have an effect on their availability or is that an overreaction?
Goddamn that's a lot of money. Source?

10% of the population of Japan has an account. Its crazy.
The game is not terrible for a phone game. I tried it just to try it because the $$$$ numbers are so crazy
Road to Dragons is buggier, but I think it may end up being a better game.
GungHo currently indeed is rolling in dough but I doubt they will be interested in funding development of SMT and related spinoff games the way they are right now. And Atlus franchises in general are too niche for a console dev. to acquire them. The outcome of this entire situation is looking bleak to me.
RIP Atlus. DDS 1 and 2 were the best games Atlus games I experienced. A great melancholic story and excellent leveling up system.
Because they are a horrible publisher when it comes to localizing games.
Who can we pray to? There are only demons and fiends here.
Anyone suggesting Sega, I hope you like the idea of Tony Taka or another hentai artist working on a SMT game.
I hope Sony purchases Atlus, their titles have been aligned with Playstation for forever.
Where do you think it will end up?Don't hold your breath. I mean.... It doesn't matter who's going to buy them, I don't think it would be a PS3 game either way.

Best case would be Microsoft buying all this Index/Atlus stuff
You know why. Cuz I want to see GAF tears all over my lap.
it won't be just GAF tears
That's...good, I guess. That means that development hasn't been halted, right?
EDIT: Referring to the above Twitter screencap
Technically not a hentai artist.Devil Survivor.
Currently, Index Digital Media, Inc. and the ATLUS brand are unaffected by the Index Corporation proceedings in Japan. Were carrying on day-to-day activities, business as usual. Shin Megami Tensei IV and Dragons Crown are still releasing on July 16 and August 6 respectively, and were licensing and publishing third-party titles such as R.I.P.D: The Game and Daylight. We want to thank all of our fans for their outpouring of support.
As long as it's not Square Enix, I'm fine with that....
Or Capcom. Or Konami.
...
Namco Bandai? Tecmo Koei? Are those really the only options? Those are the only companies I'd trust to let Atlus keep their Japan-focused identity, but they are hardly in good positions to make acquisitions.
Marvellous AQL, NIS, Idea Factory/ Compile Heart or GungHo would all be possibilities as well.
Here's the statement from Atlus USA to Kotaku

I don't like the word "currently"
So shit can change. Please, MS, step in!

Ohh I think I just threw up a bit.
There is such a thing as a fate worse than death.Still better then being shuttered or bought by one of the console manufacturers.
