Window mode? Yuck!

more like yuck you

game has crazy input lag with v-sync and crazy tearing without it

windowed mode fixes both these things

not to mention it's way better to pay attention to what's going on a smaller screen in that game

I aint even Mexican, but I just think it's tiring at this point. LUCHADORES TALKING TACOS VIVA METROIDVANIA yaddayadda

Tropico is arguably more concerning, but at the same time I kinda dig that they get away with that shit and no one says anything about it

Any examples? I find the narrator has the most annoying pitch in his voice, so I always turn off/down the sound.

I posted this earlier in the thread, but Wasteland 2 is looking pretty awesome

inXile founder Brian Fargo pomised that choices really matter in Wasteland 2. It’s not just cosmetic reactivity, he said; that’s a “magician’s trick” where you end up “getting the same thing” whatever you choose.

“It’s not that. It’s a virtual impossibility for two people to have the exact same experience of the game,” he said.

Project lead Chris Keenan said inXile isn’t “shy” about “shutting off entire levels of gameplay”. “We really wanted to make that happen,” he said.

InXile president Matt Findley said these potentially shut off sequences are quite a substantial portion of the game’s content.

“We have so many sequences. About half the game, most people will never see,” he said.

“We’re not afraid at all to create content that’s off the critical path or can be closed off permanently.”

“You can shoot or kill anybody in the whole game. That in itself [is huge],” Fargo added.

“If someone joins your party, you can kick them out, kill them, whatever you want. There’s whole sequences you’re not gonna see later because you offed the guy. We just deal with it. There’s no replacement – no NPC that joins you and acts just like him functionally. He’s out. You’re just not gonna see it.

“On the biggest level, there will be areas that will be completely different. Gone, destroyed. There’s not one just like it to make up for it. It’s just gone.”

Wasteland 2 was recently delayed; it will go into beta in October, after which inXile will be able to set a new release date.

with Tropico?

it gets away with it cause it's satirical, but you're basically boiling down latin american nations to everyone talking like tony montana and being ruled by an evil power hungry dictator

*if you want and play it like that* wich is why I guess people dont really complain about it

to be fair it mocks intervetionism and kinda the racism itself, while raggin on pretty much every nation too

I dont know, I find it weird that it gets away with so much, it's kind of a fucked up subject

Batman: Arkham Origins will probably get a page/pre-purchase soon (registry). Lets hope for some good Steam news.

Guacamelee reminds me of the Black Velvetopia level from Psychonauts.

I love that level.
If it features El Odio then I want it.

Oh yeah? Then please tell me how did I manage to beat the whole game in fullscreen with Vsync on!

I'm an Hexagon master, that's how. Or I got lucky, I guess. Probably the latter.

Yeah, I listened to the voice long enough to figure out the persona was going to be flippant both during his narration and towards the player. Tony Montana angle is interesting, I'll have to give it a more thorough listen the next time I play.

As to the dictatorship, the game is mainly making satire of revolution era Cuba; I don't think it's trying to comment or generalize to the entirety of Latin America.

I think no one minds because the game doesn't take itself seriously. And the associations with actual geopolitical events is tenuous at best. The game more takes a theme from the events instead of actually trying to comment on them.

well, all of it is pretty close to Fidel/Che stuff, and their take on it is pretty straightforward and one-sided. But yeah I agree that the reason people dont care is because they clearly make an effort to show that they're purely satirical and have no 'agenda'

I actually think that brings MORE freedom within that defined gameworld rather than taking it away. It is like the hard choices in FTL I would be actually more inclined to just play the game to my liking without thinking about having to hit every note right so I get the top experience and open up every path.

Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.
Uruguay level of Guacamelee has you bringing yerba mate to soccer players stranded in the mountains.

I'm willing to freelance, Drinkbox.

Hey, that just means that a huge chunk of his Steam purchases will be redistributed to the rest of us. From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

WHERE'S MAH CASTLEVANIA, SALSA?!

I'm pretty interested in this "perceived racism in gaming" stuff.

I don't know, I'm Italian and this makes me get my fair share of stereotypes, and well, it may be because we're usually auto-ironic or because we joke about our own sterotypes ourselves, but I'm kinda used to them, so I'm hardly offended by anything.

Anyway, when I notice somethings like that, I usually toss'em aside as simply insensitive.
Living with a true feminist girlfriend made me realize that a lot of stuff I usually say uncaringly or unconsciously are heavily offensive against tons of people I just assume have my same sense of humor.

In hundreds of hours, I never had even a glimpse of a remote possibility that Tropico may be racist.
Or - as I haven't played Guacamelee - like, Velvetopia level in Psychonauts.
Or GTAs, or whatever.

In a lot of ways, I think that racism, generally speaking, is not an offense typical of videogames.
If I have to say a banality, one should feel more offended from how women are (largely) treated - although, thanks to a growth of the medium and sensible designers, things are going better and better every day.

I feel like The Lost Archive for ACR is "neat" in that "oh this is neat" but when you play it it's actually more like "I hate you so much developers, come here so I can punch you in the eye sockets repeatedly."

There's also achievements for "breaking the loop" and completing segments without failing and such.

My response to that is a big "Go fuck yourself, I'm never touching that shit again."
