I've made these mock-ups to show how much worse the sun could have looked.

I call this one "The Bioware"

This one, I call "The Kubrick"

This one will be called "The DICE"

Here we have "The Abrams"
And Finally "The 70's"

If we had any of these, then you could complain :p

Haha, this is one of the best posts I have seen here on Neogaf.Maybe turn10 should provide some of these filters as easter eggs.

I'm holding out hope though. Shift 2, FRL, MotoGP (07 and 10/11 which ran at 60fps with cloudy/sun/ and rain/wet no less), SBK, PGR, RP, F1, etc. Can be done. Hope they have time/and or resources.
For years I've read your posts stating what a POS Monumental's MotoGP '10/'11 was and now it's brilliant because it features weather at 60fps with full grid of bikes when FM5 doesn't....what a hypocrite you are Jamesways 8-P

This will make the Holden/Ford bogans happy, can't see anyone else giving a crap to be honest.
You don't like Commonwhores and Foulcans? For shame BubbaMc. BTW, your post made me laugh 8) It appears PC players will be able to play the same circuit and car(s) in at least two PC sims with one of these sims coming to Xbox One and PS4 - it'll be interesting to see and feel the differences between the various versions of Bathurst.

Might have confused you there.

I meant I don't expect the full game any time soon.
well unless things have changed in the last 15-20 days, I've got news for you:
I talked on the phone with Aristoteli, the Greek guy that does the graphics in Kunos,
and he told me that they will DEFINITELY have the game out this year, and also bring out a meaty demo close to game's release.

so, as I said unless something changed, we are good for AC in the next 3-4 months 8)

Melbourne, Aus Forzagaffers might be interested in this.

I might have a chance at winning that if I can be bothered going on a 2+ hours drive to Melbourne.

Awesome that they've added this great track, but they need to tone it down with the constant super nova's.

Also, are they announcing something new without a vid to go with it yet again?

LOL

Good ol' Nib. Never satisfied with greatness.

That Holden looks NASTY. >3.

This game looks really great. I can't believe it's 1080p/60. Next gen will be a great era.

Wouldn't get used to it 90% of games won't be 1080 60.

Think this looks great .well apart from screenshot in the OP.
That looks no better then forza 4's graphics to be honest.

The terrain on the left hand side looks terrible. No arguments against that. And the trees are awful too. Sure it looks great in motion though.

But i have to agree with the terrible sun effect. Get rid of that shit. or tone it down a few hundred notches.

hmm.. most probably some 14year old with glasses that had been practicing the track/car 5hours/day since it was announced will beat you :D
but you can always drive it like you stole it until Melbourne and make the trip meaningful 8)

What do you suggest spending the money on, PS4 and Drive Club? £600+ on a PC upgrade?

Until the Fanatec issue is resolved, waiting seems to be the most sensible option. I know this will be almost impossible for people who absolutely, positively need FM5 as soon as it drops (even though we still don't actually know very much about the game) but £500+ is one hell of a gamble just to play one game.

There are other considerations, too. MS demonstrated hostility and arrogance towards consumers at the Xbone launch, then hastily u-turned in the overwhelming face of public opinion. Are those original policies just pushed to the side for the time being, only to be trickle-fed back at a later date? Is the Xbone being dangerously overclocked to attempt parity with PS4 hardware? I had five 360s red-ring on me, and will not tolerate a repeat. Will the PS4 have an online service as good as XBL? Will launch-console buyers be testers and guinea pigs for a whole raft of features? Are games for both consoles already being downgraded from what was originally shown running on PCs with 'target specs'? The full picture will only become clear a few months beyond launch.

A couple of years ago the wait for next-gen consoles was almost unbearable for me. We were promised a vision of FMV-quality graphics and unbridled power, with specs at least as powerful as high-end gaming PCs. Move forward two years and the reality is not quite as exciting as the promise. To be honest I'm completely underwhelmed by the hardware of both machines. Specs aren't even where PCs were two years ago, developers are already having to choose between eye candy and frame rate because the power isn't there to do both easily (the first person to talk about 'artistic choice' by the developers gets a smack - the fact is, Evolution are struggling to achieve their target 60fps on Driveclub with the IQ they want).

The argument for jumping to next-gen at launch isn't a convincing one. For years I thought FM5 would be the game to convince me, but then again I thought it would have variable TOD and weather, and I thought my expensive Fanatec cockpit would work. I thought Kinect would be an optional add-on and I thought the hardware would be one hell of a lot more powerful (and future-proof) than it is.

Is what we've seen of FM5 enough to make a half-grand gamble? Not for me it isn't. Not with so much about the hardware and about the game itself still unknown. Sure, Spa and Bathurst are exciting bits of news, but let's not get carried away. I've been playing both of those tracks for years now in GT5 and Shift, so the late inclusion here lessens the impact. I can still play them with my Fanatec, too.

I dunno, I can post top 100 times on FM4 if I put enough effort into it.

if you are going to put some practicing down, do it, and maybe its worth the trip.
but if you just drive there one day to do the laps, you will not win.
its a 27" monitor, xbone and forza5 pack. not bad.

This will make the Holden/Ford bogans happy, can't see anyone else giving a crap to be honest.

The thing about Group C and Group A racing in the 70's and 80's, was that it was a well mixed field compared to today.

You had:

Ford escorts
Jaguar XJ's
Mazda RX3's and 7's
Toyota Corolla's
Volvo's
Datsun's
Camaro's..etc..as well as the Aussie Holden's and Ford's.

Forza has most of those cars so it will be a great experience for all racing fans, not just Aussies..

It certainly looks like Turn 10 has captured the summer weather of The Central Tablelands faithfully. I'm really looking forward to seeing it in action.

I could do with a new screen and that with an Xbone for free can't be passed up.

Probably trade in the FM5 and get the LCE though.

Sorry for chopping your post down mate, it's a good read and I feel your frustration too.

My situation isn't the same now as the Xbox is a gift for my boy, that in itself took away a lot of pressure. Originally the plan was to pick up a second console but I'm not that sold on everything shown so far even at £60, let alone £480.

I only joined up for ForzaGaf and it stings a bit to see the stupid decisions wrecking the fanbase.

Damn. Thank god you never raced with us, cuz you would have made it boring!

Underestimating what "enough effort" includes lol.

Quite a few hours just is learning the tracks finer points to maximise racing lines let alone learning the car :p

The good hotlappers can just go on a track and hit top 100 times within 10 laps D:

120 new cars?
24 online grid?

Don't know how accurate the translation is or whether this is true at all.

what ?

24 players online ? (20 offline maybe ? )
holy shit, where did amazon get those details ?

well, 120 cars are less than I think there will be.
t10 has talked for "hundreds", so if it is 120 then they play with words more than they should.
but more importantly, if you count the cars we have seen until now, thats around 50 cars. add/count the v8's, the open wheelers, some other special vehicles and you got around 50 cars left to cover ...everything.

I'm not saying its impossible, but I hold my reservations.

Have to visualise the win ;)
Only doing 1:31.5s on Bernese full at the moment. Could shave 1.5 off that at least, probably more.
I tried a quicky 10 minute test and I couldnt go below 1:32. the long straights after the turns though are there to trim seconds.
if you can go down to 1:30 as you say, then I'd say you've got a chance.

Mascot, you know you want to!

Mount Panorama without V8's?

Then again, we did have V8's without Mount Panorama in the past..

GT has Mt Panorama but no V8's*, as far as I know, it's a bit of a wasted opportunity.

Unless you count that one old arse Tickford Racing AU Falcon LOL

2 are.

Pretty sure it would be Ford and Holden.

Unsure on Nissan and Mercedes though. Likely find out later in the year when they have the bathurst demo at bathurst.

That's more than I expected, cool.

120 'new' cars.

whatever that means.

I don't think amazon is pulling details out of their asses though.

I clicked the amazon link. my french are very dusty, but what I can understand is: "HUNDREDS OF CARS REPRODUCED IN PERFECTION, WITH MORE THAN 120 NEW CARS AVAILABLE FROM THE START. TAKE THEM TO THE GARAGE AND HAVE BEAUTIFUL SEX WITH THEM, BEFORE HAVING SEX WITH THEM ON THE LEGENDARY CIRCUITS OF THE WORLD!"

you guys got me worried for a split second there :)

HYPE UNTOUCHED!

AND 24 PLAYERS ONLINE IN DEDICATED SERVERS => HYPE INCREASED! 8)
FORZAGAF BATTLES INCOMING!

Don't know if this has been said, but do U think we be able to race the 1000km's and have full pitstops?

You know, I'd be happy with 120 in total to be honest.

If they cut down on the amount of cars, but increased the number of tracks, then that would suffice!

I don't think it would be 120 in total but at least I wouldn't have my OCD car collecting getting in the way of enjoying the game. Saying that, we have open wheelers as well, so that can tot up the numbers by a good amount, without that, I'm struggling to think of what 120 'new' cars there could be.

The game still has tyre wear afaik, I don't know if it's real wear or just a slowly decreasing -1 to grip and if it can be accelerated for shorter races.

But endurance is apparently not a part of career mode, if you want to run the race it may have to be done in an online private race unless they've removed the option.

Wouldn't it be really funny if people realized the sun is bright, and that it's actually one of the really challenging things about track-racing?

So when they complain about the sunlight in screens like this:

It just looks silly on their part?

If the Game had dynamic weather then your point will actually make sense, but it doesn't.

If 24 cars is true, that definitely soothes some of the feeling of buying in to the new console and unpredictable possibly disappointing FM5.

24 cars and (if) tuning in lobbies even compensates for that sun.

I know very well what sort of effort is involved!

I consider myself fairly quick but am still not a top 100 times guy, even with a lot of practice with a certain car and track.
