Combat looked pretty weird. Would like to see some more first person footage to see if they've toned things down. Nice effects abound though. Hopefully it makes it out of Japan and isn't just a claustrophobic version of Monster Hunter.

what happen to the graphics?!?!? the first trailer was cg so??

I am not sure how amazing your eyes are... but it was incredibly hard to deduce how the graphics looked from that offscreen 720p artifacting stream.

Even to my overly pretentious PC eyes... I saw lot of very impressive graphical techniques.

The graphics look almost exactly the same. Though shadowing seems a little rougher, models and textures are basically identical to the reveal. Most of the differences you're seeing are due to compression.

Where are all the people that was posting those blurry pictures, saying there was a downgrade? This game still looks incredible.

With Sony helping with development, it's most likely not leaving the PS4.

Yeah. I wish Sony had been able to do this with FFXV as well, as the rumors suggested, so that Nomura could go all out not having to worry about multiplatform and S-E could get help from Sony on the tech end to hopefully speed up development like what is presumably happening here.

maybe thats the deal to have it as timed exclusive. Depends on who owns the IP.
We help you to make the game and support you to optimize it for our console and you give us a year of exclusivity.

Has that ever happened before though ?

First party team helped out on a game to make it a timed exclusive.

-"Random dungeons and monsters" >>Wow
-"PS4 exclusive" >>Wow

-"Online only" >> WHY???

Also, should I laugh at Square because Sony opened their wallets for this game but not for FFXV? >.>

random dungeons MEH....they always suck compared to the legit designed ones with thought behind them

online only? AAAAND IM OUT

Regardless of whether it looked as good as the reveal trailer, visually it looked great. Gameplay seemed a bit underwhelming, with those weak monsters, but it's too soon to tell.

No need, Demon's Souls 2 already exists, it was called "Dark Souls".

And after this, I really don't think we'll be seeing Demon's Souls 2 anytime soon, if ever.

So it's always online like Titanfall.

the 3 most interesting next gen games:

Titanfall
The Division
Deep Down

are all online-only. a sign of the future. this gen was just a glimpse of it, next-gen online only will be an even bigger deal i imagine.

game looks incredible. dat fire effects.

hmmm, auto generated content, and traveling to memories(stages) have me pretty concerned for the game. But it makes sense as a sort of "tech demo" or proof of concept of a game for a new sophisticated and expensive engine. And having it all ready for launch window?

Instead of doing a massively designed world at that quality, with characters, story, etc.

Interested to see how it all shakes out.

Marvel

could never
Looks about the same visually as that crap quality short trailer they put out.

Jep, they should just axe the future part had hoped on an open world rpg.
Is it a 2014 game?
Well, PS4 isn't launching until 2014 in Japan. I guess it's not impossible that Capcom might launch elsewhere earlier, but I think they'd rather wait for Japanese launch and get that extra dev time.

Was never too excited for it but the sci-fi undertones pretty much ensure I'll never try this. Don't like playing a character that's playing a character

For the people not liking online only, keep in mind, that from the looks of the trailer at the end you can just play on your own. You might not be able to finish the harder quests or whatever and there might be no campaign but you can probably still play on your own if you prefer that for whatever reason.

Why does this need to take place in New York City?

Is anyone tired of that place? Anyone tired of American cities?

Why not somewhere in Russia, China, India, Europe.

Seriously... any place other than New York.
Of all the stupid things that are criticized in gaming, it bothers me that this goes so overlooked. I'm a red-blooded American, but fuck me, I'd be okay if no other game ever took place in NY.

The downgrade in visual quality compared to the reveal is clear but the game still looks gorgeous. Ugh, why did it have to be online-only :(

well didnt expect this to be exclusive, at least. I'll wait how the online only thing works in the game, but it looks like this'll be one fun game, copy of other games or no.

Randomized play spaces, online only? Those two things together don't seem like very good signs to me thus far.

Going to come down to what it looks and plays like once I get an even better video of the game in action, but for now it's iffy. It also seems like it could look good visually, but I don't know how anyone can possibly judge from the quality of that stream whether or not it matches the reveal.

Barring a pleasant surprise with better footage, I'm leaning towards giving this one a miss. It seemed a lot more interesting when I thought there was a chance of this one having some type of singleplayer.

Did you watch it?
Yes? Fire effects are great but not to the level of February. Dragon doesn't look as good either, but we could wait for a direct feed to really get a good look. Gameplay makes it clear the February stuff was a cut scene with a HUD overlay.

Sure it could be good, but the random generation stuff is a big caution sign for me. I want my levels designed by actual designers, not algorithms.

On top of that, the core gameplay, well, looks pretty much like a Demon Souls rip-off. So far, I'm not terribly impressed, but the game's got time yet.
