DEEP DOWN - PS4 Exclusive, Random Dungeons+Monsters, Online Only play @ TGS

Oh wow. Surprised that it's an exclusive. The game looks good, has a seemingly interesting premise and an intriguing setting but that online-only...auuugh. I really hope it doesn't force you to engage in online co-op play-- if this was a SP offline RPG I'd snap it up in a heartbeat. Still, colour me intrigued. Will be keeping an eye on this to see what kind of online-only features are piled onto it.

Game doesn't look half as good as its original reveal. Shocking. Animations in particular look exceptionally underwhelming.

That's not to say I wont still be buying it. But blah, the dream is dead.

It looks cool. If the combat is really challenging and fun like the Soul Series, Capcom might have something special on their hands. Unfortunately, I can already see them screwing this game with a lot of microtransactions, like they did with SFvsTekken.

You keep saying you'll only pass judgement when the direct feed comes in, then proceed to pass judgement on these shitty youtube videos....

sorry kid i really should add IMO but to me isnt even close to what i seen in the first trailer (and im watching them both again and again)

at 0.10 i think is the moment where we have more polygons and the light is enough to judge something (always takng in consideration that isnt a direct feed) and to u it feel this next gen?

at 1.38 theres a clear example of the fire combustion...and its nothing of special (nothing similar to the first trailer) (we have the same at 3.40 in the dragon scene and is worst than the first)

really all is too dark to judge the graphics (i think they did on purpose) but seem nothing of special ..if u love the ps isnt from the games showed this go down kz,infamous ...maybe up driveclub and knack (im talking about graphics)...but nothing of special

i hope im SO WRONG..coz i would love to play this game with my friends...isteat to continue to play this type of multiplayer on pc

I thought we all knew that that was a tech demo?

In motion it's pretty different though.

of course, cinematic cutscenes (like the reveal trailer) will always look better than actual gameplay.

It looks amazing. It's way more inventive than I expected.

Capcom has still got it.

I think it looks awesome. Xbox One gets Dead Rising 3, PS4 gets Deep Down, both from Capcom.

I think this is a great deal for both systems. With Deep Down, you have a game that can appeal to the Monster Hunter, Demon Souls type crowd, Dead Rising 3 will appeal to Western Gamers probably more than Deep Down.

I am fired up for this game. It looked really good on that crappy, compressed, Ustream feed last night.

- AC series didn't invent "genetic memory", it's a very old concept

Genetic memory may not have been invented by Ubi but surely there can be little doubt that AC has influenced Deep Down.

Personally I have no issue with elements of this being set in the future, what I hate is when they lay futuristic looking HUDs over games set in antiquity. Talk about jarring.

Not a fan of the whole future flash back thing.

Randomly generated usually means horrible level design. I was hoping for a dragons dogma sequel and this is not it. I am very disappointed. I may cry :(

Trailer doesn't really show gameplay.

Don't know what to expect.

Random generation is good.

Always online is not.

Don't really have an opinion beyond this and don't know how anyone could.

What happened to the graphics from the first trailer? Did they have to be dumbed down now that there is no PC version?

They look good. That is what happened. Sure, it doesn't look like the trailer, exactly, but it looks pretty darn good. I think we have seen some other games get graphical downgrades as well, on both systems, so this is nothing new, and you know that.

WOW,
This looks utterly incredible (in every possible way)!

I don't see what's utterly incredible about Online Only, to be honest.

Online focused sure, it can be cool, online only means my game is worthless once they close the servers. It has to be REALLY good so the community will never drop the game, if it's "just pretty good" it has a chance of dying earlier than it should.

This game seems pretty weird to me - at first glance, it reminded me of Demon's Souls because of the gothic-inspired art design. Then, some monitors or displays pop up in the gaming world and I get awful Assassin's Creed vibes. I really don't know what to think of this title, especially since the combat in the gameplay demo didn't set the world on fire

well u posted the difference between a

"wtf WOW at this game" (second image) and a "ok is a new game with dragons" (first)
The camera angles and posed lighting are what makes the second shot more impressive. On a technical level the game seems fairly close to the reveal trailer but because it's randomly generated you won't get to have well placed lighting and some of the more intricate details in the environments. It's more the game's design holding things back than it is the engine or hardware.

I'm surprised more people aren't disappointed with how far the animation quality dropped from the first trailer. That's the real kicker for me.

You just buy offline only games then.

Awesome.

Choice.

Randomly generated dungeons? Online only? Eh? Welp. Seems like a cheapo game.

Looks all right, I'm not sure if it looks as good as the reveal.

The animation was always clearly BS for the trailer. Effects and lighting are very close to the reveal.

Fallen Xbot (cannot continue gaining levels in this class)

that was a great part of the wow next gen effect :( i always hope too much

anyway ...we will see ...isnt a direct video feed..and could be really to early in the developement to talk seriously about this one...

So this is pretty much like Demon's Souls except you have to be always online? Well, DS was only at its best when playing online anyway. I was afraid this would end up being close to a mmorpg but I can get behind this. Looks great.

The graphics are nowhere near as good as the February reveal showed but they are still a lot better than the teaser from a few weeks ago. Also I'm fine with online only and anything with Demon/Dark Souls vibes is always going to pique my interest. I tend to hate games with randomised environments and dungeons but if this game turns out to be a bit of a Diablo-style loot-fest in 3D, it might just work.

Most likely day one game, jizz over graphics, fun with friends.
Wow over nice dungeons and visuals, but when you seen it once, you seen it all.

There is no game-play mechanics for randomly generated dungeons. There is no back-story to random pendant, rubble, broken sword and hole in wall.
Of course I can be wrong and dungeon can have back-story with these elements, just randomly scattered around. You know, new innovative things that I can't imagine and my skepticism is in wrong place.

Exploiting level design or overcoming restrictions that DEV's put in place is like having a fight with DEV's themselves and winning/loosing. Sharing specific locations and discoveries with friends/community. Wiki for goat's sake.

Will pick it up, looks amazing, will have to have open mind, demon's/dark souls spoiled me :(
