Quite honestly, for the average gamer, there isn't going to be much of a difference. Don't get me wrong, I love my Vita with all it's OLED goodness, but most people won't even notice.
Oh my goodness. Now that is priceless. I like the bit about the OLED screen being the centerpiece of the PS Vita. Well bye bye centerpiece lol.But Sony told me that the OLED on Vita even influenced developers creatively.

Here's another image, which is totally representative of the quality of the new screen. You should base 100% of your purchasing decision on this:
That is called viewing angle, something lcd's are notoriously bad for.Is the brightness set really low?
I'm reserving judgement until I can see the new screen for myself. I doubt there's a dramatic difference in IQ, unless Sony chose to really cheap-out on the LCD in the new version. My biggest concern would be with motion blur, but though I love my FEB Vita's OLED screen, I'm no less happy with the screen on my iPhone, and even the 3DSXL's screen doesn't make my eyes bleed when I'm playing SMTIV, so maybe in the end it won't really matter to Joe Consumer and it will still come down to the games...
...and how exactly are you viewing these photos? You cannot judge the quality of the screens from photos due to both the camera used to snap the photo and the screen being used to view the photos. The advantage of OLED cannot be made visible on an LCD monitor, for instance.I'm liking the new model more and more, actually. The ROA screen is the only one that makes the image quality look like shit, the other pictures and videos make it look pretty comparable.
IPS panels are LCD too. That's an ips panel. Different than what "LCD" usually means in a product. LED is also LCD technically.
It's good enough for me in smartphones, it'll be good enough for me if I ever get one of these.
All they had to say to convince me was
'It's an IPS panel'
But they didn't, so I'm skeptical.

Look at how oled tv's retain the same color/brightness under extreme viewing angles....
Are the screen dimensions on the LCD one bigger than the OLED?
I like how people are basing the image quality of something that has been photographed under less than ideal conditions then compressed, then uploaded to the internet, then viewed on varying degrees of screen quality.
Wait until it's out.
Oh, and you're not alone. The masses continue to purchase LCD TVs in droves despite the fact that the technology is out of date. The high sales numbers and low manufacturing costs combined with failure of high-end displays in the marketplace have all contributed to the death of display innovation. People are OK with LCDs.I'm using the metric that my eyes did not bleed and roll from my sockets, obviously.
Look, I just don't think it's as big a deal as people are making it out to be. We'll see whenever these start popping up in stores, I guess.
Don't need a screenshot, just experience. It was bullshit when Apple claimed their fancy retina LCD was better than OLED and it's bullshit now when Sony claims it.
OLED costs more and looks better. Using LCD means you want to save some money, that's it.
Maybe I should buy a Vita now before the new model rolls out. Maybe it'll be like the OG PS3 that would sell for quite a bit on ebay because of its superiority to the later models.
This shot needs to die. How do we know the game isn't rendering different hue at different time while at title screen.
Do it! Its a fantastic screen and the design of the OG Vita is superior.Maybe I should buy a Vita now before the new model rolls out. Maybe it'll be like the OG PS3 that would sell for quite a bit on ebay because of its superiority to the later models.
Once you drop below a certain brightness threshold the accuracy goes out the toilet due to poor black levels. That's the problem (along with poor motion resolution). It's not quite the same in this case.
The iPhone uses an IPS panel with some of the most accurate color reproduction around. It's very good and I prefer it over AMOLED for phones.

The iPhone screen is not as well suited towards gaming.

I don't know what to believe anymore.

So you believe everything PR says? Assuming the picture quality actually isn't better than the OLED, what do you honestly expect PR to say?Well there it is guys can we stop arguing?
What was that?
No?
What why?
Oh, yea I forgot where I was at.
Link House those screens. He's delusional if he hasn't seen the huge difference between them.
I don't know what to believe anymore.
This is a funny one, people said in the other thread that the New LCD had a green tint and faded blacks, but it the otherway around, I expect the OLED to have better colour but that LCD looks really good.Another comparison:
