Custom Cover Art - Minimalist, clean, or alternative box arts for your favorite games

crap, ofcourse when someone is actually gunna help me out it breaks, I reorganized the images and broke it, here ya go

edit: now that I am seeing it on my TV screen and not laptop, it doesnt look terrible full view

It's difficult to say whether it'd print acceptably, since everyone has a different tolerance for artifacts and other image quality issues. Personally I think I'd try and find different art at a better resolution.

I don't see the point of putting that black bar in the middle.

Remove that entirely and just have that image in the background, and have the halo 4 logo sitting on the spine.

I believe he's said that he wants all his Halo games to have uniform spines so they look like a set. Personally I think I'd agree with you, but each to his own. :p

Anyway, someone asked for Tokyo Jungle earlier (though I think the real cover is pretty great):

Thats exactly why, Clearly it isnt everyone's taste, but I am just really particular about organization and Im tired of my shelf looking like this

So I made these

edit: I highly doubt anyone will care, but if other people want them for their own use, I can always remove the bars

I wasn't digging the bars before, but I kinda like them now.

Also, MYST!

Also 2 things, 1.) the link for the DS template is dead and 2.) what is the size difference for PAL and NTSC 3DS covers? The template listed in the OP is for PAL but will they fit an NTSC case?

You're right, it's dead!

Here is the DS template I made for my own use.

I'm not sure what the PAL 3DS size is, but the NTSC 3DS template I made is 3239px x 1376px at 300DPI. (27.42cm by 11.65cm)

i've never printed a custom cover before and have a few questions.

i'd like to do a few of these "cassette tape" covers at my local Staples/Kinkos.

• Do I need to type in the actual dimensions of a cassette case at the printing station kiosk thing? or do I just simply print it at 100%? the resolution is 1625x1600.

• Do I bring the images on a thumb drive?

Thanks in advance.

edit: here's the link

That is GENIUS!

I currently have all my GBA games in an old VHS case with a cover I made from a GBA wallpaper I downloaded from Nintendo.co.uk.

I need to find me some old cassette cases now!

I also used to have hundreds of empty clear micro CD cases (little tiny jewel cases, perfect for Gamecube games). I'm gonna have to have a look to see if I have any left.

I've filled up 3 LAAARGE bookcases with games, and space is a premium. If I can get my all my games into smaller cases (jewel, micro jewel, etc) I'd be able to reclaim tons of space and just stick all my current game cases in the basement with all my DVD cases.

Those are great! I may have to do some cover modifications for those (at least when I continue to do more GB games).

Yes, if you take a thumb drive and have the image in an acceptable format, is should load them up fine. No guarantees though, because I have went to Office Depot, and the people there screwed up my resolution format for my prints that I've done in the past.

So just to clarify, all I need to do it print it at 100% and it'll fit perfectly?

I'm extremely insecure with how much f2p mobile games are encroaching on Nintendo
Looks great! Can we get a full size link?

Decided to make a few this morning

Bioshock 2:

Infinite Undiscovery:

(This unfortunately is pretty terribly upscaled. If you can find any higher res art for the game I'd be happy to make a different version)

Far Cry 2:

Glad you liked the Ace Attorney boxes so much. I'd love to see a picture of how they turned out when they were printed. :p

Looks like you might have copied the wrong link there. I don't see anything!

Personally, I'm of the opinion that ultimately you won't notice THAT much of difference in the quality when it's behind a piece of shiny plastic (So it's probably not worth buying a new printer for). If possible, however, you'd want to print the covers on glossy photo paper with an inkjet printer. The best results would probably be found at a store that specializes in printing.

Those look great! I think I agree with Hurzelein about the Wolverine one, though.

Yup, we've had a few, actually. One by kitsunisan, another by przmekszulim, and one by Ricky_R.

Excellent work on those, thanks again!!

Realized I kind of like the original Sleeping Dogs cover art. I cleaned it up a little bit and spread the art to the back. Then I added a version with a cleaner spine.

In the UK right now, was at a big hmv store there. They had Ps3 boxes with printed Ps4 covers as advertisments. The covers for Killzone, Infamous and third title I dont remember looked pretty "official". Sure they were printed out on a normal printer, you could see that if you watched closely. But they also had a pretty official looking backside and some box that said something like "Just for marketing purpose" etc.

Either Hmv made their own unofficial covers/printed it from the Internet or they got a template from Sony.

The interesting thing was that the covers were stuffed in normal Ps3 Boxes, and they were too big for them. It was fitting perfectly, just on the upper side where the plastic of the Ps3 boxes the covers stuck out like 1cm, up till where the Ps3 box ended.

As we have seen on some mockups the Ps4 covers are bigger. Just my guess but I would think the Ps4 and Ps3 boxes are exactly the same size, it's just that the plastic behind which the covers lie go up all the way to the edge on the Ps4 boxes.

Toadofsky, that Metroid Prime cover is amazing.

The Binding of Isaac

I couldn't find a version of this cover or this image without the text on the front. Even if it is not perfectly minimalist, I really like this cover.

What do you guys think of this TF2 cover?

I can't really play too much around with the order, at least more than I already have. The original wallpaper I found for this had the TF2 logo on the bottom, so it is kind of stuck in position.

Hi guys, I'm kinda new to this so bare with me if I mess up the uploades or anything else =D
I kept the same spine-font for every cover because I just can't stand having a different font on each cover... It may be an OCD thing of me.

If you set it up like this

[ url= link to the HD version][ img]smaller image goes here[/ img][/ url]

This way it displays your smaller image and when you click the image, takes you directly to the HD download.

Great covers by the way! I really like the ZoE one, where did you get that original image?

Zajora should really just get a mod to add this to the OP, or start a new thread.

I plan to start a new thread when I get the off-site gallery working. I'm actually taking a class on web design right now, so that should probably help. It might be awhile before anything more happens with that, so I guess I could ask Demosthenes to add the link to the current thread.

I should write a bit of an explanation though. How about this?

Here is a link to the Dropbox backup I created. It contains all covers that I was able to download (that had working links) from both the Custom Cover Art thread and the original PS3 redesign thread.

To get to the full size covers, go to "Custom Covers/[System of your choice]/Large". The "Small" folders are for the 3D Box Previews. "Printed Covers" is for pictures people have taken of the covers from this thread that they've printed.

To download the full resolution of a cover, click the thumbnail/filename, then right click it and select "Download". Although Dropbox will display a scaled preview, the file you download will be full size.

It is possible to change the view between the thumbnail grid and detail view of filenames with this button:

jP52EX1k0xVpL.PNG

The detail view is useful to find particular games within the folder for systems with large numbers of covers, since you can use Ctrl+F to search for a particular games.

All covers in the Dropbox should be correctly named with their corresponding game, in JPEG format, and tagged with their author. If you notice a cover that has incorrect metadata or is a duplicate, please PM me, Zajora. If you notice a cover that was created by a member and posted in one of the threads but is not included in the Dropbox, please let me know. :)

Also: Please do not link directly to any covers in the Dropbox. I can't guarantee that I won't change the folder organization or the filename, which would lead to a broken link.

Getting a tad better at this. Not too proud of my Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 cover, the picture I used was naturally a low resolution. Some of these are already done by other people but I wanted to try my hand nevertheless

EDIT: Just realized that Fall of Cybertron is missing its spine art. Will fix and reupload
EDIT: Done.

Looks good.

Guys, I need help on Half-Life 1 and Half-Life 2 covers.

I get stuck on the creative level, I really don't know where to start. I also have problems finding high-resolution logos for the titles.

I did find this picture, which is perfect for the cover of HL2, but I don't know what to do for the back

Well, these are some of what I might use if I were making one:

Logos:

For HL1 I'd probably use this in combination with edited text from HL2's logo

Look up Half-Life and The Orange Box on a site called "The Cover Project."

Also, anyone have dimensions for the bulkier-size PC game boxes? Generally they're the same size as DVD cases but the spines are roughly twice as thick. You know what I'm talking about.

Sekundes

Could you do a clean version of this one? And, if not to much trouble add the actual logo font to the spine?

Here you go.
I've also updated my last post with an clean 3D Cover of graces, but I couldn't fit the original graces font in the spine... the logo is just too high for it to look good on the narrow spine.
Maybe if I find an other logo...

yey it worked, and thanks!

About the pic:
A guy on devArt named Andy made the Wallpaper, even in different variations.
I forgot to credit him.. I posted like 9 covers yesterday so I kinda got lazy on that part..

Eh, I'll take a crack at this, too.

Do you guys know of a resource to get clean images of cover logos? Especially the one's on the spine?

I absolutely fell in love with the front cover!
I can't stop looking at it- to the point where I'm probably going to have nightmares about it.

Great job! Please tell me you still have the front-cover picture on your computer or can at least link me to it... I can't seem to find it anywhere... not on google nor devArt.
