Yeah it'd be max 300KB per second. I'd assume driveclub will be in excess of 10GB so it'll take a while. I also assume there'll be day one patches for Killzone and probably for the console itself.

No, it's not. Those are just icons for the system level functions (shut down, notifications, settings). They also behave differently.
The game will be more than 10GB yea, but you don't need it all to download to start playing.
You should be able to background download whilst playing KZ:SF though.

I actually found it on accident, lol. I was looking for PS4 videos from Eurogamer and found an interface video I hadn't seen. Started it up, and was like "Uh oh" (I had just seen the gif he posted like five minutes earlier, lol).

I think the icons are just for aesthetic and familiarity purposes; the PS4 UI isn't the XMB as we know it, at least not function-wise. Mind you, what I'm saying is going by what ckohler has posted, as he's the one who's had hands-on time with it.
The XMB refers to the icon layout, one row of categories and one column of entries in the selected category. From what I can tell, the PS4 UI is one row of... well, commonly used functions at the top, and another row of games and apps and stuff.

Everyone console box should come with a handle, brehs. I don't trust plastic bags. PS4 packaging might slim enough that I can tuck it under my arm though.

Non the less, it's pretty evident that the row of icons along the top don't work like the Cross Media Bar. What's happening is that people are seeing those icons, which look similar to the XMB icons, and then just jumping to conclusions without taking into account the actual underlying functionality or the way you navigate them.
I explained it in more detail a few pages back.
Still ongoing. Pacific Time vs Yurop time stretches things out a bit.
Everything will come out in the wash.

Rushy said it's a test kit and test kits are near identical to the final retail models in terms of hardware specs, but test kits come with additional ports for testing and debugging purposes.
